Beautiful pebble beach and clean water. Toilets readily available, superb fish and chip shops on the sea front and has a very safe feeling to the area, great for families. Don’t forget to take some change for the arcade as well! Car parks fill up quickly but usually find a spot without too much trouble and parking is reasonable cost for the day.By Ne C-B (a month ago)Visited Herne bay for the first time with the family today. We all loved the day !!
From crabbing on the pier, the gorgeous fish chips for lunch and all the monies spent in both the Arcades. We only spent roughly 5 hours here but could easily of spent longer. We will be returning. Great family day out.By david johnson (3 months ago)A shingle beach, old fashioned feel to it, which is fine by me!
Very popular with swimmers and families. Some parts of the beach shelve quite steeply in places, others nice and flat – easy to see when the tide is out.
Lots of activities around the beach area – arcades, crazy golf, gardens, play areas, and fish and chips, of course!
A lovely pier (which is where Google have taken their photo from).
My photos are looking back towards the pier after two days out with the family there.
Definitely worth a visit if you want to enjoy a classic, east Kent seaside town.By Kay G (a week ago)1. Pebble beach

There are part of the beach you can swim but water was too cold today, so didn’t have a swim. There is sea front paid car parking for up to 4 hours, but you should find free ones further away from the sea. Cafe and Toilet near the west side of the beach where you can get coffee and tea and ice cream.By e tradecom (e-tradecom) (a year ago)

This is one of my favourite beaches in Kent. Easily reachable, parking every time available. Facilities: toilets, shower, a small cafe with snacks and ice cream on the beach. A protective lifeguard is present. In sunny summer weather can be crowded. Be aware of cheeky seagulls. The water is shallow and warmish.By Patrik Krizek (4 months ago)I went to the Joss beach and it was just needed. The beach is very intimate, clean and perfectly sandy. I rate the beach a good 4 stars because the toilets when I went in was absolutely unhygienic. Nobody aimed to clean the mess. I couldn’t physically go in there due to it. There was pads scattered on the cubicle. So I pretty much held my bowels for the entire day. The people seemed lovely but also some of the staff were just rude. Minus that, the beach was scenic, refreshing and beautiful. I’m so thankful for visiting something new and not so typical.By Humaira Islam (4 months ago)Such a lovely beach! It was clean of rubbish and so inviting. I loved going for a dip in the sea yesterday and can’t wait to come back to Broadstairs! It was not overcrowded but still had a good number of people. All were having fun. Great place!By Austin Young (4 months ago)Beautiful beach, not as busy as some of the other beaches close by. Clean with ample car parking. Toilets available and a small cafe though not many food optionsBy Arpit Jain (3 months ago)Joss Bay is so beautiful such a nice view not overcrowded either , great facilities, no problem finding a parking space, also the cafe down at the beach has everything you need and is very modern too. The seagulls were entertaining 🤣 I would say there are a few many than preffered but if you cover your things and scare them away then your fine.
Perfect beach for any age.
Make sure you look at the signals to wether you can use floats on the water as I couldn’t see them.and the lifeguard warned me.that I shouldn’t be on my sup board right now due to the current. The lifeguards were very protective of the people in the water which gives you a sense of confidence whilst in the water.By Abi Moss (5 months ago)

Really nice sandy beach with lots to offer for a lovely family day out. Toilets, cafes and a beach bar style restaurant are just off the beach. Then you have a promenade full of arcades and a outside play area.
The photos were took just as it started to rain.By david johnson (3 months ago)Nice sandy beach. Very nice promenade and lots of eatries and entertainment options around the beach. Ample parking space as well. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, only on promenade. Not very crowded as well.By Amit Kumar (4 months ago)Probably the nicest beach on Sheerness island. It’s not that great compared with Brighton or Eastbourne but has its own little charm. There are a few beach shops along the prom and a lifeguard on duty at peak times. The beach is a mixture of sand and pebbles with a vast expanse of sandy mud stretching out to sea at low tide.By Chris Gledhill (a year ago)Top seaside action, good selection of arcades with games and fruit machines.
Plenty of parking.By bertie malco (3 months ago)Come as a family for a few days, kids absolutely loved it here, beach, park, amusements and ice creams, my kids have asked to come againBy zoe walker (4 months ago)

Lovely beach, with plenty of space. Very nice to walk on the long footpath. From the top of the hill there are several benches, where you can appreciate the amazing views.By Sónia Martins (6 months ago)Very peaceful place. It was a great day trip. Nice little town with a colourful atmosphere. Only thing we missed is we couldn’t go for boat trip, it was close.By Redwanur Rahman (7 months ago)Lovely beach and great promenade for cycling, running, walking.
This part of the beach is watched by life guards so its safer to swim here.
By Vlad Ka (3 months ago)A concrete promenade runs along the beach between Tankerton and Whitstable. Colourful beach huts overlook the sea which must be nice to sit in on sunny days. The beach is separated by groynes to prevent sand and shingle migrating along the shore, and these provide shelter from the wind on blustery days. The promenade leads into Whitstable harbour where you can enjoy refreshments after your walk. Showers are provided on the beach to wash off salty sea water. Look out for silent bike riders zooming past you as you walk. A great place to exercise! Out to sea are wind farms, and Maunsell forts from the second world war on the horizon.By Leslie Jones (2 months ago)Beautiful day during visit. Cafe (card machine broken on day so was cash only), toilets nearby. Lot’s of benches to sit and take it all in. Walk on top or down the slopes and both have hard footpath. Entertainment on day with food tents so a bonus.By Amrik Seehra (a year ago)

This place was on my list to visit for a long time. It takes more then 2 hours drive from London, depending on the traffic. But it was worth the trip definitely. You can park off the road, there are easy steps to get there. There are public toilets to use. There is a food and beverage stand on the beach and they had cold drinks, coffee, ice cream and nice food 😋. The beach is nice, clean with fine sand, you can stay in the sun or take the shade. Lots of space to put your towel. The scenery is just amazing and it’s worth visiting. Keep an eye on the tide. You can follow on line. When tide is low you can walk along the lines.
It’s beautiful beach and the main attraction is the Chalk like Cliffs, it’s beautiful to watch. The interesting this it’s not too crowded like Bournemouth beach. Near to the Botany bay you don’t have any restaurant so if you are visiting then it’s better carry some food. Parking is the other challenge they have very small parking place. Some how we managed to park the cark in Road. If you want to relax for a day without any disturbance then it’s a best beach ⛱️🏖️.
Gorgeous beach with stunning views of the cliffs. Only down side there is no cafe/restaurant and parking is horrendous. I saw around 4 car accidents where people were trying to park or leave on a narrow residential road. I was there on a heatwave weekend.
One of the best beaches in East England. Around 2 hours journey by car, from London. White Chalk cliffs, worth seeing. Sandy beach, good place for family outing, in Summer. If you have a plan to drive, the best time to visit is early mornings as very limited place for car parking.
Excellent place to visit with family. Sand beach, nice public walkways, excellent landscape. Not really crowded. You can hardly find such a nice sand beach in Kent areas, absolutely better than the pebble beaches you find in other famous beaches in Kent.
