My husband and I stopped here after the Louisville Slugger tour. Great local restaurant. We started off with the Dates in a Blanket – name could be better (doesn’t do it justice), sauce I was unsure of when seeing it – but it was fantastic. The cheese wasn’t over powering like some I’ve had elsewhere. My husband had the bacon burger on a pretzel bun with truffle fries he loved it! I had the pork short rib grilled cheese – so yummy!! Make sure to try the Lemonade cocktail with strawberry!
Our server was amazing as well!
By Pam J (7 months ago)My wife and I just had an amazing meal tonight at this restaurant. We had only ever been here once before and extremely happy that we revisited a handful of years later. What’s not to love?Mussels? Yeah.
Burgers? Yeah.
Beer and bourbon? Hell yeah! Our server, Casey, was absolutely wonderful and they are lucky to have her as an employee. Prompt service, refilling of drinks, easy to talk with, excellent suggestions on what to order, a wonderful gem.
We started with the Curry Cream Mussels and pleasantly surprised at how delicious they were. My wife ordered the Spanish Blue burger and I had the CEO burger which was equally as delicious. For my meal, it came with steak truffle fries, which, turned out to be giant delicious Jo-Jo fries. I kid you not, each one was 1/4 of a potato! In hindsight, I would recommend to cut those one more time for more crispy edges 😊.
At the end of the day, we recommend you head on over, buy both mussels and a burger, grab a drink, and hope you get the wonderful Casey as a server!
By Brett Thornsberry (6 months ago)Mussel & Burger Bar is a great, elevated bar food restaurant.
On my visit, I had 3 different dishes…
Started with the Sweet and Spicy Calamari. The flavor was nice but it just tasted kinda mushy and smothered in sauce. Would of liked it too be crispier. Next was The Local Burger. The meat was cooked perfectly, nicely chared just a bit, and had great, fresh meaty taste. The bacon and cheese complimented it nicely too. Finally, the carrot cake was awesome. It had good balance of sweetness.
Service was also very attentive and friendly. Overall a great first experience here and I’ll for sure come back and try other dishes.By Jose Valencia (8 months ago)Great dinning experience and location. The dates in a blanket from the starters section were delicious. Perfect mix of sweet and savory. Nice selection of options for the muscles, I had the Blue cheese beer pancetta which I highly recommend. service was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. The smoked pineapple dipping sauce for the burger and fries didn’t quite work for me, seemed to clash and would recommend sending it with another sauce alongside.By Bill Johnson (7 months ago)This place is always good and never disappoints. The burgers are excellent with many options to choose from and interesting taste combinations. This time I opted for the Philly sandwich and it was really good. The short rib grilled cheese is worth trying as well. If you’re in the mood for a burger then get yourself here ASAP.By Justin Shircliff (4 months ago)

Good burger and customer service . Food is fairly priced. French fries seasoned great . Wish the Ollie burger was bigger or maybe they could have a double olllieBy Greg Naves II (3 months ago)I’ve enjoyed an Ollie burger with cheese and extra sauce & a small fry since I was a wee little youngen! Just thinking about this place makes me hungry. We rarely get the pleasure to eat an Ollie Burger, so when we do make it to Louisville and we are close by, we stop and load up on Ollie Burgers to eat then and later!! I’ve tried to talk the owner into selling me a franchise, but she just won’t do it!! NOM NOM NOM, Get in my Belly!!By Mandi Hall (6 months ago)Food was fresh and fast. Service was good! Can’t wait to go back.By Brandy Kaelin (6 months ago)A Louisville icon that I shared with my daughter recently. Can’t go wrong with Ollie’s seasoned fries!!By Amy M. (2 months ago)Fries are really good, but it’s basically BYO ketchup. The burgers remind me of a step above the burger you’d get in an average middle school though. Cash only for the consumer isn’t fun nowadays. They’re pretty fast though once you place your order.By Seth Martin (a month ago)

When you go to Bards Burger Just know it’s gonna be delicious.
I highly recommend the Deluxe Burger as its just a Great burger. The Mushroom Love Burger is also excellent and loaded with grilled mushrooms and onions on a tasty toasted bun so your bun doesn’t get soggy at all. The Hand cut fries are tasty and crisp. Their chili is Cincinnati style and lean beef so it’s fine and not oily. THE CHEESE CURDS….you gotta get a full order or you’ll kick yourself… so crispy and lightly salty… and a breading that’s so thin and crisp it’s more like batter coated yet not…. They are just so good…
There is public parking near by too.
We will definitely visit again.By Joe Bush (8 months ago)This place is fantastic!!! The poutine, the fried cheese curds and fried pickles, the delicious fresh off the grill burger flavor, the homemade 5 way and the DONUT BREAD pudding. Thank goodness this place is so out of the way for me otherwise I’d gain 30 lbs a month 😂By Christina Kanaris (3 months ago)The poutine was very delicious. The fries are homemade and it makes a difference in the poutine. The burgers are really good and I highly recommend trying the fried cheese curds. If you want to try the bread pudding, get there early, it sells out fast.By Shannon Henderson (3 months ago)Food was awesome! Definitely get your fries with cheese sauce as they are a bit dry without.
AND YOU HAVE TO TRY THE DEEP FRIED TWINKIE!By sara baughman (8 months ago)I would highly recommend you try this. It is a dive joint but the food was AMAZING! We had cheeseburgers, which were homemade and awesome steak cut fries with cheese. I can tell you, those fries would’ve been just as good without the cheese. I ordered my burger medium well and it was done perfectly! The taste was well seasoned and the toppings were all fresh. I would highly recommend it!By Marla Niebling (a month ago)

Anytime I am on my travels, I am always looking for some exotic foods. I love to try and eat meats that are hard to fine and this place are exactly what I was looking for. Their entire menu has all kinds of gamy items that are not easy to find, but the rarest of all was the kangaroo!
Certainly not something I can manage to eat all the time, but as a once in a while I don’t it was amazing. I had a rabbit meatball on the side and was very happy with my meal.
The kangaroo burger was delicious and the sauce on it was fantastic. It was a pretty good size and I left the restaurant relatively full. I will say that the side items of sweet potatoes was small so I’d recommend going for the basket instead if you are hungry.
Not only was the meal good, but the service is pretty great as well. Isaac was great with the server and very helpful on my touristy Kentucky questions. I would highly recommend trying this place out!
By Anthony Messina (4 months ago)Go to Game and sit at the bar. They have interesting seasonal burgers along with their standard menu. I went with the Wild Boar ($15), added some Brussels sprouts on the side, and had a key lime pie sour. The roasted bone marrow ($14) was delicious but a bit hard to conquer solo. The staff is super friendly. I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu.By Shelbi Svoboda (2 weeks ago)If you are a meat lover this is the place for you. I will highly recommend the bone marrow easily one of the best bone marrow I’ve ever had. Plenty of exotic meat to try I got the meatballs, and I recommend getting the meatballs at a medium to medium rare as my meatballs were a little bit overcooked in my opinion but still very good. Great little cabin vibes while you enjoy a beer as well.By Anthony Arizpe (8 months ago)An amazing treat if you enjoy wild foods! We absolutely loved it! I would like to return once a month to try a new burger each time until I have tried each! It was delicious! We had the wild boar and wagyu and it was amazing!By Nicholas Applegate (a month ago)Great fun idea but pricey to find out you don’t like something. Kangaroo was definitely a fan favorite. Bone Marrow was great but super rich. I wouldn’t come regularly but a fun experience I recommend trying.By Susan Roberts (3 months ago)

Thank you for reading! If you have any additional information on the best burger restaurant in Kentucky, please leave a comment below. We would love to hear from you!
Ate here for the first time yesterday, and it far exceeded expectation! I think it’s up there with the burger greats of the city, and at the top of the list for affordable, humble, good quality burgers. We ordered way too much: 2 double cheese burgers dressed, tots, chili cheese fries, and two chili dogs. Everything was perfect in what you want out of good simple diner style burgers. Thin patties, excellent chili, tots were cooked perfectly. The price point was amazing for how satisfied we were when we left. We got home stuffed and happy….then two hours later, shared our leftover chili dog and tots.
Loved the ease of ordering when you first go in (if paying with card) otherwise you order at the counter. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Burgers were absolutely delicious. Onion rings and Cajun fries were really fresh and crispy. Vanilla chocolate eclair was delectable. We will definitely be back. Dining area was spacious, very clean and inviting.
I had their cheeseburger, cajun fries and the eclairs. Everything was delicious. The patty tasted fresh and fries were well seasoned. I’m glad I went back to order the neapolitan eclair because it was the perfect compliment to the meal as it was not too sweet and the chocolate cream melted in my mouth. So good!
Cant believe it took me this long to find this gem! I used to eat brunch at the business there before Weekend Burgers but never thought to stop here until this weekend. I was missing out! We ate here both Saturday and Sunday and both experiences were amazing. The smashed burger style is my absolute favorite and here it is served so fresh and cooked to perfection. The Cajun fries were also delicious. We were served and enjoying Our food in under 10 mins. 10/10 for me and so glad to have found a new and addicting burger spot.
Let me preface this review by telling you all I’ve never posted a food review ever. However this needs to be said. One of the best patty melts I’ve ever had. The patty itself was hot and juicy, cheeses were melted to perfection, topped off with a fried egg. Cajun Fries seasoned just right with many options to customize and add the toppings you’re craving. The milkshakes are made to near perfection and they allow you as many flavor possibilities you want. I had a mixture of vanilla, banana, strawberry (real strawberry bits), whipped cream, caramel drizzle. Milkshake didn’t even make it home it was so good. Delicious food and awesome service.
