This was a great hike and fun place to visit. It did not take long to complete the trail. There is no fee for any of it. The trail itself is well marked. Watch out for slick areas and some steep ups and downs. The end is well worth the trouble. Make sure to go all the way down to the lowest part of the falls, where you can walk along the river.
Theres room for swimming though the water is very cold. We went on July 4th and there were quite a number of people, but we didn’t have a problem finding parking.

Wonderful hiking up to the falls. So many mushrooms to be found and eve one fellow forager!
Once you are past the campgrounds on the lower elevation, you pull away from kids on bikes and families and joggers and wind up just with hikers in the occasional person with the dog.
Note that once you get to the top, you wind up encountering people who are just there to see the top of the falls. They’ve driven up there and parked. We got lots of questions about the mushrooms we were carrying!
By Zachary Stafford (3 months ago)First Google maps takes you to an entrance near the falls which has only the most limited parking for perhaps six cars. And you’ll see in a sign in the photo I posted the better entrance is from Jamaica Park. For about half an hour a mile on either side of the trail entrance to the falls there are “no parking” signs listed.
The trailhead itself is a bit misleading since it starts off as a gentle easy down slope. It becomes steeper as you approach the falls and, if the weather has been wet, very slippery on the rocks. I’d recommend trekking poles to help get close to the falls.By Larry P (3 months ago)Parking is EXTREMELY limited during the winter, basically non-existent. Driving there through all the snow-covered trees was a lot of fun, it felt like we were truly in a winter wonderland! The falls itself was more of a stream, but I can imagine how gushing it must be in the spring. The trail is unmarked, so we used our ears to pinpoint which direction to walk towards it. Since we went on off hours we had to park further away which added about 3 miles total to our hike. Not the best weather on the day that we went but still a beautiful view from the dam even with the clouds and wind. It was a decent climb to get to the falls but definitely worth it. We come here a lot to just chill. It’s really pretty, usually nobody is there, and there’s a small trail to walk on. Use caution, it’s not a safe place. I wouldn’t bring children here, careful with dogs, and wear good shoes if you plan on the trail!By Ellie Carrassi (4 years ago)Don’t go to upper gorge for swimming. It’s looks can be deceiving. My friends and I frequently are at the lower area. It gets crowded with the 420 and college folks in the peak of summer. Lots of people bringing music, dogs etc. Wear sandals or water shoes where you can because occasionally the off fishing hook or piece of glass might come your way. This place is incredibly beautiful. From the falls to the Mountain Views. The trails were nicely marked and well taken care of. Great swimming hole or if you just want to sit by and watch the cascades of water. THEY TOW!! We made the mistake of parking on the side of the road alongside others, only to come back to find my car towed. IT GETS WORSE!! There is NO SINAGE WITH A NUMBER TO CALL AND NO CELL RECEPTION IF YOU FOUND ONE TO CALL. We do not live in this state, we do not have anyone to call to pick us up in the middle of nowhere. We have to hitchhike to the tow place only to be told you have to pay $150 CASH to get your car BUT they have NO ATM!! So we have to hitchhike with another kind soul to drive us to a store and back. This is not right to do to people 😢 Very stressful!! I WAS TOLD BY THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER, THEY PULL EVERYONE’S CAR..ALL DAY, EVERYDAY!!They will ruin your day for Money!!!

This is a great place for people of all ages to come and swim. Parking is limited, so carpool or get there early. When the water is high enough it is a great place to play. There are very deep pools that are deep enough to dive into, and there are several levels of the Cascades that people can move between. The rocks can be slippery. But as long as you are careful it’s easy to move around and enjoy the river. There are many parts that are quite shallow and good for kids to play in.
Iconic, and a great way to spend an afternoon. Has some spots where you can cliff dive into ~10ft deep pools carved by the gorgeous waterfalls, which is a lot of fun.
Great place to wade in clear water. Parking is limited so be prepared to challenge the suspension on your car. It was helpful to have water shoes. People were jumping into the water but downstream there were fewer people, more shallow spots, and no jumping. We saw some fish. People had cigars which smelled prominent.
It’s lovely. If it is hot out on the weekend, this place is filled with people. Everyone tends to be relaxed and respectful.
Beautiful views of the falls, easy walking trails. Fall is a great time of year to visit as foliage adds to the beauty of the area.
