  1. The place is amazing. How it’s been transformed from an airline terminal into a hotel is top notch. The history of the building is something every aspiring architect should visit. If you’re an aviation fanatic or a history buff. Definitely visit this place. My only complaint is that they can definitely improve the service. The people are really nice, it just seems to lack the foundation of what true service means in the hospitality industry. However, don’t let that stop you in visiting.

  2. Hotel was very cool and interesting, very well decorated and in theme, but rather expensive for the size of the rooms. You also have to pay for access to some of the amenities like the rooftop pool and bar which is a bit of a bummer when the cheapest room is over $400. The rooftop pool was very cool with a view of the runway to watch planes come into the airport. Definitely a fun niche blast to the past but with a high price tag… Very convenient to the airport though if you need a quick in and out and don’t care about the price.

  3. The entrance to the hotel from the Air Train is disappointing. The evergreen shrubs are littered with trash. It’s not a great first impression. Signage is awful. The architecture is incredible and it’s worth spending a long layover here, rather than in the airport. However, it’s overpriced and beginning to show it’s wear and tear in a brief time. The shaded in the room are incredible noisy, poorly fitted and work improperly. They are not calibrated so one of the three panels may be shorter or longer than the others. Wires are visible hanging from the ceiling. You will want to put the shades down because the windows are not Tinted and people on the outside can see right in. It takes a long time for hot water to come out of the shower (total waste of water). The towels are excellent. They are big and plush. The room design and lighting Is great but there are only two hangers and four hooks. There is in closet and no safe. The doors are really heavy but do not offer much sound insulation from the typical socially inept fellow guest who screams down the hallway at 4am or slams his door. In my room, every time someone opened or closed a nearby door, mine would rattle. I solved this by placed a damp towel at the base. There is no trash can in the main room. Just a sort of placemat on the desk with two sides. Recyclable and trash – gross. Service in non existent. They do not answer the phone.

  4. This place is a gem right out of the 60s and I think as a hotel, it has a lot of potential. The architecture is stunning and the hidden exhibit rooms are really cool! The rooftop pool is a great spot, too, but they did try to charge us for just being up there which we figured out was to prevent crowding.

Service could be better. The staff looked pretty jaded about being there and I would have liked to see a little enthusiasm and smiles, especially for such a groovy place!

The rooms were nice, too and had great views of the runway. The overall polish of the building could be improved upon too. A bit more cleaning around the vents and nooks, plus sending the sparrows that lived in the building back outside. They were cute birds, but not what you want to see in an indoor hotel.

  5. This was the coolest hotel I’ve stayed at hands down. I missed my over night flight out of New York so needed a close hotel so this was the best option for me as you can shuttle here. Paid nearly $400 for a night (ouch). The room was was super clean and comfortable. I didn’t take any pics of the room cause I forgot. But just everything about this hotel was everything! The food/dining area is open 24/7 and has amazing options! I would 10/10 recommend it here.

The staff here is amazing! They were so accommodating and gave us a wonderful room during our stay. I believe it was Nicole and Erin that assisted us at the front desk and they were lovely! Our room was clean, spacious, and overlooked the Coliseum. We stayed here for a concert at Jones Beach Amphitheater and it was conveniently located to the highway and not too far from the venue!

We met a sweet young man at the front desk, Sat, Aug 20th approx 1030pm. The joint was JUMPING. He was a sweetheart and I’m sorry for not remembering his name. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming and I have never seen so many stewardesses in one space, but it was interesting & entertaining. Our room was exactly what we needed just a place to sleep but the bathroom can use a bit of a face-lift. Mot horrible & WE LOVED the property and will def stay there again. We checked out 730 8/21 again lovely young woman checked us out & I’m so sorry for not getting her name. We just appreciated the warm welcome and hospitality we felt from these 2 people so kudos!! Best. Trish

Stayed here for a concert at Jones Beach Theater. It’s also ideal if you’re going to the coliseum Easy to get to as it’s right off the highway. Plenty of parking. Nice big lobby with a bar snack center and seating available. Check in was easy and the staff was friendly and attentive. Our room was clean and quiet. It also has event/meeting rooms. Very good experience and will definitely stay here again.

Higher hopes for a full service Marriott. The lobby and bar are renovated and nice. The location and convenience to the coliseum is great.

I was not given a room until 10:15pm. When attempting to check in at 6pm there were no rooms available. After dinner we called around 9pm and still no available rooms.

The rooms are very outdated. Linens and towels were torn and showed significant use. The pillows and bed needed to be replaced.

Worst of all, I had no running hot water. When I informed the front desk I was told it takes a while to heat up and that the hotel was at capacity.

Fair to say that the property needs a full renovation to be classified as a Marriott IMO.

If there was a way to give less then one star I would. I am a Marriott Bonvoy Elite member and was treated horribly. After the front desk staff and two managers refused to check me in and accused my young son and I of trying to fraudulently check in (reservation had my husbands name on it) I finally was given my room keys after over an hour and a long phone call with the Marriott elite customer service reps. Once in the room the heat was broken and wouldn’t turn off. It was in the 90s. I went down right away and asked for a different room. The manager once again refused said she would send up a service man to try to fix it. I told her it was so hot and wouldn’t cool down fast enough and I wanted a different room. I explained we were staying at the hotel because my son needed to be up early the next day for a sporting event and I needed him to get to sleep. She ripped the keys from my hand and told me she was checking me out of the hotel and I had to find another hotel to stay in. I explained I already spoke to corporate once about my check in experience and would call again to which she put her hand in my face and told me she was going to have me escorted off the property by security. Security was there and refused to do so. I begged him to help me and he said she was manager and he couldn’t help with her or room. I called my husband who was again horrified and called corporate again. They booked me a new room at another property down the road and we had no issues. When I checked in to new hotel and told manager what happened he suggested I read the reviews of that hotel and said he would never stay there because it is so bad. After reading these reviews I’m upset I didn’t do so before booking. Jackie the manager was an uneducated nasty rude women who has no business working in the service industry. Please do not stay here worst experience ever at a hotel. Also, rooms are tired and dated.

A true resort experience. We were there midweek in September so it was very quiet. The beach was great. We most liked the fact that there were lots of restaurants and some stores nearby. We never got in the car. The beach bar was closed and it took awhile to figure out how to get someone to put out lounge chairs and umbrellas. I think that was because almost no one was on the beach. The water temperature was great and moderate waves.

Amazing location. Great town. Perfect quick getaway from the city.

The resort is pet-friendly, which was great. The outdoor seating area (equipped with awesome fire pits) and lobby are fantastic. The beach and town are great too.

The rooms were… Eh. Decent size, nice views from balcony, and pretty comfortable beds. Shower didn’t drain. Door locks were broken. TV was fuzzy. Things kept falling down/falling off the wall in the bathroom. Small stains on carpet. Safe didn’t work. Bed sheets/covers were scratchy and uncomfortable. However, none of these issues were terrible. Just inconvenient and an eye sore at worst.

The pool was… Fine. Not terrible, but pretty small and the pool area was underwhelming. Disappointed that most of the day, the pool bar was close and there wasn’t really service at the pool for drinks.

The main issue was the service. Everybody was super nice… But took us over 2 hours for lunch with multiple mistakes. Would take me 45 mins to get a drink at the bar even with just 5 or 6 patrons sitting there. They were missing many ingredients, blenders and other items behind the bar were not working. The servers/bartenders were VERY inexperienced and seemed pretty over their heads and incapable of performing the simplest tasks/requests. Watched one bartender spend nearly 15 minutes at the computer trying to ring in an order with just two drinks.

Overall, enjoyed our stay and plan to go back again… But rooms definitely need upgrades and service staff needs MAJOR overhaul and training.

This review is based on the event services, we worked with Sara! She did a great job in coordinated our child’s birthday event on the beach! Food was made on sight and they were able to accomodate dietary restrictions. The beach venue is clean and absolutely stunning with the ocean in the back! Our guests loved the food and ambiance as well as being able to go in the ocean! Would recommend!

Our event could not have been nicer. The staff took care of my family including some last-minute items that came up. The food was perhaps the best I’ve had at any event I’ve hosted. The view of the beach and ocean was unmatched. Sara made planning easy.

We had nothing but compliments. Not one complaint.

The view was magnificent to see the fireworks show. My Housekeeper Carmen was extremely attentive and professional anytime we interacted. My 4 year old Granddaughter loves the pool and I love the hot tub. There are so many food choices. I’ve been there 3 times within the last year and I have nothing bad to say. I’m already booked for August with 15 of my family and friends.

My organization hosted a staff retreat at the Allegria Hotel in July 2022. All of the planning up to the event was amazing. I worked with Jessie and Geraldine and they assisted with all of the coordination and specific details. They were very accommodating and provided great customer service.

The retreat was awesome! All attendees loved their room and how accessible the beach was. They were also more than satisfied with the food options. We opted for two different breakfast combinations which were delicious and filling. Dinner was plated and each option provided a healthy serving. We are lucky enough to have the same server both nights, Michelle and she was extremely personable and helpful. I would also like to note that Enriques, Kirk ad Sam went above and beyond to ensure that our group was happy and satisfied.

The conference space we booked was beautiful and each day was nicely recovered.

All in all, I enjoyed my stay at the Allegria and we plan to have our retreat there next year.

I didn’t stay at the hotel itself yet just went to the restaurant inside of it. The atmosphere is gorgeous my wife and I loved it. They got a bar separately if you just want to relax and drink. Then they have tables to eat the steak was amazing. Try it out for yourselves you won’t be disappointed. Summer time you have a beautiful view of the ocean and its right by a board walk.

I’ve been coming to The Allegria Hotel for year’s now. It’s time for an uplift with this hotel. The rooms can be a lot cleaner. Surface cleaning isn’t enough they need to do deep cleaning with the rooms. The staff are really sweet and the location is golden this is why I keep coming back. The beach is right there so that’s a plus. If you stay at the hotel you don’t have to pay for the beach. The restaurant and bar is nice. The rooftop pool is nice as well.

Although the hotel was quite nice. There was a lot left to be desired. If you are lucky you can get someone at the front desk who is nice and smiles. But usually not. They also do not answer the phone. When I went to the front desk, because they didn’t answer the phone to ask for my room to be serviced they told me then they don’t service everyday. I was never told. Then I asked for additional bathroom towels, twice. Both times having to go to the front desk because they did not answer the phone. The guy never apologized or even cared. I interrupted him reading. When they towels finally showed up. They were beach towels and 1 bathroom towel. Neither valet or housekeeping pick up
Either. For the cost of those rooms at least be courteous and say they will not be serviced. Let’s not even talk about the kid throwing pizza crust off the rooftop bar.

I Recently had a Birthday and graduation party for my son. Jessie Whitman coordinated everything with me and gave me great customer
service and sound advice. The service team was excellent during the party. The Bartender Jerry was excellent, provided great customer service even to the kids by preparing their non alcoholic drink with a cherry on top! Everyone can not stop talking about the party. The ocean view was really nice. I would definitely go back and would refer others.

We decided to do two small stay-cations this year as flight prices were high for a family of 4 and tried this hotel. It feels luxurious when walking in and everything is pristine!!! My kids commented that “this is a fancy place!!!”. The rooms are large and spacious and just as beautiful as the reception area. The location is perfect too as you can walk 2 blocks to a slew of restaurants and small shops. The LIRR is right across the street if you needed to take a trip to the city as well. Pool was great for my kids and my husband enjoyed the workout area.

Staff are all friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff kept our rooms neat throughout our stay. Checking in/out are also very quick and efficient.

We did not go to the restaurant as my kids are picky eaters but plan on doing another adult only trip to try it out.

The staff is wonderful, capped off by Anthony (Tony) at the front desk. The common areas are wonderfully clean, with staff walking the space throughout the day. We were in the pool and witnessed a staff member walk the gym and pool area, then minutes later another staff member came down to mop some shoe prints on the pool deck. Great team work was evident throughout our stay, and housekeeping was attentive, remembered that we had children with us, and quietly knocked as to not disturb them. well deserving of our tip! Don’t forget to tip, the team deserves it.

We recently stayed overnight to celebrate a birthday and Amy Butkiewicz, Reservations Manager, could not be more accommodating and hospitable. From the moment we arrived, their top bellman was there to greet us, along with the rest of the staff and made us feel right at home. The room accommodations were out of this world!! Clean, cozy, and everything we hoped for with our room. We dined in the Red Salt Room where once again…were treated like royalty!! The dining room is timeless and exquisite…and the menu is top shelf across the board!! We will certainly be back again. Thank you to the entire staff at The Garden City Hotel!!! 5 Stars!!!

We stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Our room was ready early and we had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us . The room was very spacious and it was very clean ! King Standard . We then went down to the Spa and had a couples message that was amazing beautiful space and friendly service. I had an amazing massage (my husband wasn’t as thrilled with his because he would have liked more pressure and did ask but they did not comply, but mine was amazing she listen to everything I said about spots that were sensitive and where I had pain and even gave me some recommendations when she was done . I Wish I could remember her name She was great ! ) it was to early for dinner so we had a cheese board sent up to the room which hit the spot perfectly! Finally diner at the King Bar , the food was amazing and the service was even better . It was a Tuesday night so it was quiet . The bed was comfy a little hard for my taste but my husband liked it. It definitely felt like a romantic spot I imagine a wedding here would be PERFECT !
