This was our first escape room experience and it was so much fun. The puzzles weren’t so hard they were impossible but they definitely made you think. The staff was very friendly and made the experience even better. The 4 stars is only because the price was a little steep. But if you have some extra spending cash and you’re looking for something fun to do with friends or family it’s a great time. You can have up to 7 people in the room we did but we only had 2 people and still were seconds away from escaping when the time ran out, so it’s possible with just 2!By Brittany H (2 months ago)Great family activity. Our family played Clue and enjoyed the challenge. Very interactive game with lots of twists and surprises. Our game master Molly was awesome. She helped us understand the game without giving things away but gave us the hints we needed when we all agreed to ask for them. We can’t wait to visit again.By chris collins (a month ago)Breakout Games is awesome! I have done a couple of their rooms, all in different cities, and the experience has always been great. The staff is very friendly and the rooms have really cool themes and puzzles. They also give you as many clues as you want so it’s great for all kinds of groups, whether you just want to kind of chill and have fun or want a real challenge. Today we did the Undercover Alley room and had Keegan as our game master. Both were great! Super friendly, funny and helpful. We couldn’t have escaped without him! 😂 We’re excited to come back and do the Submarine Survival room later today… Wish us luck!
Update: We somehow managed to escape Submarine Survival by the skin of our teeth! Another awesome room and Alex was a great game master!

We did the kidnapping room which involved handcuffs and I have some sensory issues when things are tight on my wrists or ankles and he was really nice and understanding about leaving my handcuffs looser. Anyway, we escaped the room and it was really fun! Really great first escape room experience. Really enjoyed the hilarity of moments and the different types of clues! Wow! What a beautiful park. I went just before sundown to hike and catch the sunset on the beach. Then as I was exiting I saw the full moon rise as well — such a treat! There were quite a few people there to witness the sunset when I was there and it’s understandable why. Lovely colors and view of Chicago on the horizon. The dunes were gorgeous as well. I truly enjoyed the hike to the beach and around. There are a lot of stairs, both up and down, whichever direction you decide to complete the loop, but worth the views if stairs would typically deter you. So grateful to have seen this area and had the chance to explore.By Kai Cimmino (5 months ago)I decided to go here because of the close proximity to Chicago and because it’s another national park off the list.
I would recommend stopping at the visitor center and grabbing a map and a pass $25. (I got lost at first and I believe if I didn’t get a map the park would’ve been mediocre.)After that, I would head to West Beach and explore the dunes etc. around there. Then I would continue down the highway/shore and stop at every significant location marked. Around dinner time I would stop in Michigan City, which is about ten minutes outside the park. The city offers so many food options and you can see the lighthouse there. After dinner head back in to one of the beaches to witness the sunset. West Beach allows views of the Chicago skyline.
I would say this park offers amazing views of unique ecosystems and nature. However, I thought the views of human pollution and human industry took away from some of the delight (there was a steel mill and coal smoke stack visible all times). The hikes were challenging and also prepare for sand everywhere. The beaches were clean and the water was clear too. Please be careful as the park takes you into Gary and some places are not safe.
Overall, this park was a nice day visit for me. The park satisfied my thirst for nature and beautiful scenery. I would come back again for a day trip that’s about it.By Ryan Sutter (5 months ago)The park itself was nice and clean. It is definitely an “urban” National Park. Being a family that lives 40 miles from Lake Erie and has spent a lot of time there, on various parts of its coast, Lake Michigan was so much nicer and appeared cleaner. We stayed a few hours and enjoyed the change of scenery from the Utah deserts we came from. We try to hike at least one trail at every National Park and we hiked the Dune Succession Trail here, which had over 200 steps and went through forest-like parts of the park. Kind of surprising it was more than just a beach park. It changed elevation often. At it highest points, you can see all the huge sand dunes and Lake Michigan. When you aren’t on a boardwalk or steps, the trail is deep, dry sand which makes it difficult to hike on. Definitely a work out fighting that sand!Lastly, they do not take the National Park Pass, you have to pay that entrance fee. Keep that in mind when you come here as well.
By Lauren Delgado (a year ago)This place is amazing. We initially went to the town instead of to the dunes and we were disappointed because we thought we had miscalculated. As it turns out we found the dunes and the state park. Pro tip. Enter through the free entrance which is just down from the park entrance. The park entrance cost seven dollars. There is a Pavilion and nice clean restrooms. The people are extremely friendly. It says dogs are prohibited however we brought our dog out there because everyone else had their dog out there. It seemed as though as long as the dog was on a leash nobody minded. The parking was free. The beach has the softest Sand you’ve ever felt on your feet. The water was cold. You can see the skyline of Chicago off in the sunset. The most beautiful night!By torie quismundo (8 months ago)It’s my first time visiting and it was definitely worth it. This park is huge and has very well managed trails. You will get sand in your shoes and the wind off Lake Michigan can be strong. The view was clear enough at the West Beach we could see the Chicago skyline. Just double check where the bathrooms are located and make sure they are open, hard to enjoy a hike if you have to go and you’ve seen signs letting you know there’s cameras keeping watch to make sure people don’t go off trail and damage the delicate environment.By Sunday Morrow (9 months ago)

One of my favorite zoos I’ve been too. Definitely try and time it for an animal showing, SOOO worth it! The trainers are experts with their species and the show is phenomenal and short enough that you won’t get bored or tired. The exhibits are spacious and considerate for each species, try and time it for an overcast day so the animals are more active. Definitely bring water or money for a vending machine. The bird rooms are also one of the best stops, for sure check it out after you stop to feed the giraffes! Lots of interactive opportunities and a great variety of species. Definitely worth the drive from Purdue!
We love the zoo! Our youngest kids hadn’t got to go so we decided to go spend the day yesterday and we had a great time! The only part that wasn’t so great was the forest, the only animals out were the birds. We know it was probably due to the new exhibit coming so no big deal. We will still be back! It was completely packed but we still got through in good time! Our kids loved the monkey and the elephants! We got to see all our favorite animals and everyone really enjoyed it! It’s worth the money you spend to have the fun with the family!
I really loved my day that I spent here. They did very well with handling the interactions and also respecting the animals as well. Most of the enclosures had happy active animals, the only one I thought was questionable was the lions enclosure.
Greatly enjoyed the dolphin meet and greet, feeding the flamingos/giraffes and taking the sky track ride around the orangutans exhibit.
Definitely worth the trip from Kentucky.
Lots to do in such a little space. If you don’t do rides or shows you could walk the entire zoo in two hours. We loved seeing the elephants and how well kept they were. The Safari area was cool and the animals looked like they had plenty of room. The budgie cage was great to have all those birds free flying around. The orangutans look like they would be fun to watch if you get then at the right moment. Plan your path around the dolphin show and make sure to get there 10 minutes early. They do close the doors 5 minutes before show time. All in all it was a good zoo and one that doesn’t take all day.
Nice. Not overwhelming huge..but big enough…about 3 to 4 hours to see everything….
Lots of parking…and handicap spaces..
Lots of helpful friendly employees.
Loved the dolphin show..
And a demonstration of macaws..beautiful birds..
Lots of big animals…elephants, giraffe, zebra, tiger, lion, cheetah…
Variety of colorful birds…and reptiles..
Very nicely laid out..use a map….lots of restrooms…very clean and maintained..
Several choices of getting something to eat or drink stands..and outdoor tables with umbrellas..some inside eating too.
Not included in your entrance price..is a mini roller coaster.
A gondola ride over the orangutan outdoor enclosure…also fantastic view of the city skyline..its quite a high ride..but goes slowly.
And a train around the zoo…(my opinion…i wouldn’t waste my extra $$ to to ride it…just went by the back lot..zoo maintenance..weeds….didn’t see any animals..just a train ride)
And a carousel for the kids..
Overall..quite an enjoyable day..
And gift shop..
