We really enjoyed our visit here. Everyone was so friendly and informative. The grounds were well kept. The home, church, and chapel experiences were so neat. I came here about 30 years ago as a child and I obviously appreciated it more this time as an adult. To see where Elvis was born and where his family lived and where they came from was a really neat experience.By Nikki Appleton (9 months ago)I didn’t make it to town in time for an official inside tour so I went after hours and I think it may have been better. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I’m glad no one was around cause I think I got some great pics. I was able to take my time and really take in the awe-Inspiring beauty of it all. I played a little Elvis on my phone as I walked around the grounds and it was perfection.By kat (6 months ago)Awesome place. It was great to see where Elvis was born and lived. His dad Vernon built the little house by hand. There’s so many things inside which belonged to Elvis and the gift shop is full. I enjoyed the walk around the grounds. They are fixed so nice. As a huge Elvis fan, I truly enjoyed the experience.By Patricia L (4 months ago)It’s a must do for your bucket list! Just don’t plan to spend the entire day there. It’s a cute little place, easy to get too with a nice setting.
We didn’t take the tours, but had a chance to peak into the church and the house. The tours would have been nice so that you can hear the stories.
You don’t need to buy any passes to walk around the buildings or park.
There is a visitor centre and a nice park area for you to stroll around and enjoy.
If you are coming from out of town and plan to spend a couple of days, there are plenty of places downtown Tupelo with a lot of great restaurants near by to make it with your while.
By Marshall Azar (5 months ago)It is a lovely place. The grounds are designed very nicely. The people who work there are doing their best. But while we were there they had a difficult time with the AV equipment in the chapel. A little TLC to the grounds and attractions is needed here.By Harper Voyages (4 months ago)

Not the biggest zoo by any means. But what they do have is a nice zoo. The animals seemed to be well taken care of. Every enclosure had a fan blowing towards the animals to help cool them off. They had plenty of food and water & none seemed to be distressed.
The admission price is very fair as well the train ride tickets.
Free parking with shade is readily available. It’s easy to get in and out of. All of the staff we encountered seemed to be in good spirits.By Outdoors With Shawn (6 months ago)All of the animal enclosures were very clean and the animals were obviously well cared for. They have fans all through the zoo and they put up umbrellas on the sunny walkways for extra shade these 2 things really help with the heat. My kids loved the rope course and getting to pet the goats in the petting zoo. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will go again one day.By Quillan Smith (7 months ago)Absolutely loved the Lights of the Wild light display at the Hattiesburg Zoo. This is the first year I have attended the light display at this particular zoo. They did an amazing job. Elsa, Anna, & Olaf were there to take pictures with the kids. There were stations setup to purchase popcorn, hot coco, and other treats. The line for the train ride was long but it moved relatively fast in my opinion. I would recommend and attend again!By Linda Shelton (a year ago)Not a huge zoo but a very fun one with a decent variety of animals and very reasonable prices. It is well laid out so you don’t spend tons of time just walking without seeing any exhibits. I definitely recommend it.By Chip Campbell (11 months ago)I grew up going to the old Hattiesburg Zoo and hadn’t been back in 30+ years. I was delighted to see the changes they have made but at the same time, they have honored some old standards. The original carousel is still there and still a joy to ride. The giant snail you can get inside was one of my favorite things as a kid. It was so Dr. Doolittle and one of my fondest memories. I am so glad to see they’ve survived time and change.
The whole experience is inexpensive family fun at its finest. I can’t wait to go back!By Shari Felker (5 months ago)

That’s it for our list of the best things to do in Mississippi! If you have any arguments or additional information, please leave a comment. We love to hear from our readers too!
My family got up very early this morning to beat the heat. When we got checked in at the first visitor site on Gulf Islands National Seashore this security guard was amazing! Very informative, very friendly, gave advice on the best set up sites in the park! I sure wish we had that great customer service everywhere! Thank you Nick Smith for getting our day started off well! You keep being your awesome self.
Beautiful seashore, quite beaches, amazing fort to walk thru and learn some of the history! Highly recommend if you are in the area.
Great water/electric sites. Most sites are pretty good and have good space and views. We were in site 9 and the pavement was older and not level. I would recommend other sites before 9 but it still wasn’t bad.
If you like the outdoors then this is the place for you! The front gate entrance drive has been completely redone and is very nice. Perfect for running or biking along. The campgrounds looked well maintained as well. The walking trails aren’t super long but there is enough to do where you can spend an afternoon here. Most of the places you can walk to which is a plus.
A beautiful campground right in the bayou. Very recently paved, including all roads and site pads, level, but our site (#10) was awkward to back into, being on the passenger side. Nice easy access hook ups (water and electric). Visitor center was very nice and a ranger at the desk was very informative. Nice displays. Clean bathrooms and showers in the campground. Rangers and/or camp hosts (very friendly pair!) patrol often, so very safe feeling. As a birder, this place was great (even in December); had Clapper Rails calling in the marsh right behind us, and one day a Great Horned Owl spent all day roosting in a tree about 50 feet behind our trailer. The boat ramp area is also good birding.
This is a great place to visit for some interesting history about the gulf islands and the native wildlife and vegetation. The staff are friendly and the facilities are clean. There is an assortment of furs for kids to touch and examine at the front desk. Currently, there is a section of the walkway leading to a lookout that is blocked off and it’s been that way for at least 6 months.
