This place was awesome! Was so impressed with how much information and how many bikes they had. Does a great job of truly portraying the history of Harley Davidson. Any fan of motorcycles, history, or even if you simply have some time to kill, the place is well worth it and the restaurant across the way isn’t half bad eitherBy Daniel Oot (6 months ago)Being a huge fan and considering these motorcycles world’s most sophisticated and beautiful, visiting this museum was the top reason for our day trip from Chicago.
I found the entry fee slightly over 20$ reasonable for exhibition spreading on 2 floors and top vault.
Museum is well organized. The first floor (where you enter) starts with founding explanations, first models produced, HD role in WWI and WWII as well in almost all public services.

Unexpectedly huge place. So much history, original blue prints interactive media that will allow you to understand the combustion process, the difference between the twin motors….. amazing. And bar drinks and food were also pretty good.

Chalk full of informative and well thought out displays, you could easily spend hours touring the museum. The entire Harley-Davidson campus is easy to navigate and parking is available on site. I t was quite a while ago I was able to spend some time and check out this beautiful one of a kind structure! While visiting for work. The wings open at around 10am with the museum, and flap at noontime, then close when the museum closes. Worth seeing!
In side the museum there is lots of space with views of the lake and lots of nice art.

It offers something for everyone whether your particular favorite art expression is Impressionism, Modern, Renaissance, Folk, and much more. We spent close to three hours and did not see it all. If you are in the Milwaukee area I highly recommend a visit to this museum. You won’t be disappointed! We arrived about 10:30 and the underground parking garage was mostly empty. I’ve grown up attending various events at the art museum and also just coming on my own time, but this particular event that happens annually is worth the trip. There is so much to see we could have come back a second time. The children loved the art studio where they could create a work of art. Don’t miss the Georgia O’Keeffe collection. The Discourse Coffeehouse in the lower level has the most delicious handcrafted drinks as well as sandwiches and bakery items. I recommend the Parisian matcha drink, it truly is a work of culinary art. I highly recommend visiting this art museum. The architecture of the building itself is a piece of art. Check timing for the wings. They open in the morning close in the evening and flap at 12 o’clock weather permitting. There are a few interactive workshops to check out as you’re going through. All in all it’s a good visit. It was listed as the number one thing to do in Milwaukee. Awesome! I have visited numerous museums in the US and around the world. This one stands out as one of the best collections and experiences I have ever had. You can spend an entire day at the museum and still not have seen everything they have to offer. One of the best exhibits is the butterfly sanctuary. Here you fully engage in nature and history. This is a must see for everyone! Please note that the museum will be be moving to a new facility in 2026, in order to house their collection of 4 million and growing.By Gretchen Schwartz (4 months ago)Very informative History Museum. The employees are very friendly, and always willing to help if asked. Love how much information is tied to each exhibit. This is not a museum that you can do quickly, as even walking through it would take you several hours. I think honestly to interact and read everything it would take you multiple trips. We’ve been here numerous times over the years, and I continue to learn new information when going. We did take our school-age children here, and after spending several hours, they did get tired towards the end. Although we’re ones to really read through things.
The museum itself is multi-leveled, there are escalators, stairs and elevators to access the various levels. You do get a map when entering , as well as there are various places throughout the museum that has maps. On the ground floor there is a Cafe and a Coffee House with traditional Museum prices. They do have kid friendly options, as well as warm food and snack type items. However, with very good reason, food and drink are not allowed in the exhibit area.
The planetarium is very cool! We saw the stargazing in Wisconsin presentation, and it was both informational and wonderful to see. Definitely not something you should do if you have motion sickness though.
Also a big fan of the butterfly exhibit. Love that this is part of the museum. We saw hundreds of butterflies and even had a few land on us in the 20 minutes we spend in here.
There is a parking garage attached to the museum. You can pay when you’re leaving, or at the kiosk prior to getting in your car.
Bonus, I’m always surprised how clean it is as well! Kudos to the cleaning staff.
By J. Garty (4 months ago)Very cool museum with a lot to view. You can spend a good 3+ hours in there. There are three floors with escalator/elevators so it’s easily accessible by wheel chair. There is a small coffee shop/cafe for food and snacks.Everything is beautifully display and there are employees stationed around the museum for questions/demonstration.

One popular feature is their butterfly exhibit, with hundreds of live butterflies.Also they have a great exhibit on the third floor about ancient Egypt, Israel and Babylonia. Plus a great exhibit on old Milwaukee.
Would be nice if they can add some new exhibits for those of us that come back every year.
By Moshe Rapoport (7 months ago)I try to make it to the Milwaukee Public Museum any time it’s affordable. They offer free dates for Milwaukee residents. You do have to reserve tickets online for these free dates, so be sure to do that- it can get busy.I visited in January 2022, and the small candy shop in the Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit was closed. It makes sense because of COVID, but it still was a bit sad as it’s always a favorite spot. They offer the candy sold in the regular museum gift shop, though!
Staff is always very pleasant, too.

Flowers and cactus were amazing. I took so many pictures of trees and plants I’ve never seen before from all over the world.
My favorite had to be the sausage tree along with the goldfish plant, lobster claw and living baseball
Definitely a great place to take the family for a lovely afternoon.
Masks are required at this time.

As a plant enthusiast, it’s a lot of fun to read about all the different plants and their climates. The three domes were very cool. School groups would do well here if they’re doing research on plants that wouldn’t typically be native to the area.There’s a small fee to enter the domes and you’ll be able to see all three. It’s definitely warm inside since all of the plants require a moderate climate. Dress appropriately or layer clothing so you can shed some once inside.
By Corey Mitchell (2 months ago)Delightful experience. It’s a beautiful place to visit within 1-2 hours on a weekend. There are 3 domes – Tropical, Desert and Floral. Every single dome is rich in varied plant species which are beautifully arranged and labelled. Each dome is not too big or small. So, you can explore a lot of plants without getting tired. There are beautiful spots to take pictures, specially in the floral dome. The whole compound gives you a peaceful vibe.
They have a gift shop and like any other gift shop items are a bit costly. They have a small entry fee discount for Milwaukee county residents. The current fairy garden exhibit is amazing and so colorful! The staff is always very friendly and everything is always super clean.

First free day of the year. Check website for other monthly free days. There is no free parking on Blue mound Rd, only on side streets, meaning it’s a hike back to the zoo entrance. Parking is $15.00. Basically, you grab a map & walk the zoo grounds. Lots of exercise & fresh air. Very few animals on display except in the buildings; bats, fish,& monkeys. Bathrooms open throughout the zoo, & the main cafeteria is open. Zoo gift shop is open. Not many people/families visiting. ? are required. Because there weren’t many people there, you are able to get close to the informational signs by the animal enclosures and really read them& learn some interesting information.
Super fun day with family with kids. The animals look very clean and healthy! The zookeepers looked very responsible and kind when handling the animals. We saw feeding around 4pm, near closing at 5pm.
Fortunately they are renovating and improving a lot of the exhibits. But it looks a little empty in many areas of the zoo, with lots of the display cases not functioning either. There are paper print outs with information which made it look quite sketchy. But in a few months or so I’m sure it’ll look beautiful!

I’ve been going to the Milwaukee County Zoo since I was a kid, and this was my first time here in many, many moons. My, how it has changed! And definitely for the better! The new hippo exhibit is just spectacular, as is the otter playground. It was lovely to see Poppy, the newest addition to the giraffe group, and as always the grounds are clean and very welcoming. We did not partake in any food or beverage but there was plenty to choose from on the day we were there. I commented to my youngest son how absolutely gorgeous the environs are, and with all of the well-maintained trees and walkways. Full and total props to the roaming peacocks ?
The price and a parking fee was outrageous- even higher than the Phoenix, AZ, but all that being said…they have an awesome diversity of animals. And the fact that you can be up close and personal with some of them makes it all the more fun! It did take me 4 hours to get through, but we wanted to make sure we looked in every building and enjoyed every animal. It’s not a stop for the budget conscious trip as it is $$$ but if you have the dough it is a real treat!
A lay back and easy going zoo that has everything you expect to see in a normal zoo. I’m a fish person and they do have some fish stuff so pretty good compared to other zoos.
Plenty of sitting here so it’s a great place for picnic. They do have a picnic area which is great.
Closes at 4:30pm so get there early!!! We missed some spots because they started to close down places at around 4:20pm.
