Very nice Historic walkway with a few restaurants. The waterfalls along the path are super nice especially on a warm sunny day! There isn’t much to do here except a few restaurants, it says there is retail shopping, but there isn’t. We asked and there is 1 store, so if you are planning to shop that will not happen here. The old buildings are well preserved and nicely done. It took about 20 minutes to walk it. And with all the shops nearby it is a great place to get something to eat. A very nice example of reconversion of an industrial wasteland. You can walk there but also eat and drink. The place also hosts events (baseball) and music festivals.

What an awesome spot! This was our first time coming to this park. It’s about an hour drive for us, but it was worth it!
The park itself is easy enough to get to. As for parking, there are very limited spots- especially on the weekends when we went. If you’re going, make sure to plan ahead, get there early to get a parking spot, and to avoid the crowds.
There are many trails located here. We decided on the Cox Mountain Trail. It has a decent length of about 4 miles round trip, views of the river, a suspension bridge, as well as an old cabin! The trail was easy to follow. There are plenty of signs pointing the way for you to go, as well as marks on the trees. Super easy going and you never have to wonder if you went the right way.
The route was easy enough, as trails go. We stopped a few times so the kids could play in the water and search for Crayfish.
We’re definitely coming back here to check out the other trails. I hear the Quarry is cool!

Check their calendar for events and activities. It’s also great for camping and facilities are also reservable. We went to the Cox Mountain trail, where there was plenty of parking, picnic benches, and a trail head that went to the cool suspension bridge over the river. The trails beyond the picnic benches are not paved and may be less accessible to those that do not have sure footing.By Michelle Fearon Scales (2 months ago)It was a perfect fall Saturday Morning we decided to go on hike and had been wanting to check out Eno river state park. It was very easy to get to, we were trying to get to Holden Trail, but the google maps takes you to a private residence, so avoid that. Luckily we were very close to buckquarter creek trail. We found parking easily on the side of the road as the lot was full.The trail was very easy and scenic, a big creek with a good bit of folks there just for the creek itself and not a hike. It took roughly 30-40 minutes to complete. There was a path to go to Holden once we were 15 minutes in, but we decided to save for next time.

Had great seats and ran into some friends as well. Acoustics are great and the venue is small enough to see very well without a Jumbotron.

Interesting downtown type of park place, though, not really a park, but has a few park elements. Stuff for kids to climb on, a big slide, a pixel wall, a bridge over a creek… My 4-year-old had fun there playing in the creek although we were wondering the whole time how clean or contaminated the water was. Trash and bottles were all around the area. The coolest thing there is the colored-peg pixel wall next to the apartments where kids can experiment with posting colored pegs and write something or draw a picture. Plenty of fresh produce, flowers, pastries and breads from local shops, eggs, cheeses, meats…and a little bit of everything else. Great little diversion on a Saturday morning.
I know they sometimes have other events here as well but I mainly patronize the Farmers’ Market.
Hot tip: there’s a big parking lot off Morris St right around the corner….a very short walk away and much easier than hunting for street parking right next to it.

Bring your lawn chairs and be prepared for an entertaining evening of live bands. Each concert ends in the crowd-pleasing Electric Slide. The night I attended, a Soul Train Line capped off the evening with a DJ spinning tunes from the 70s to current hip hop. Something for everyone. Diverse crowd. Racially diverse and people of all ages. Safe environment. Just a wholesome, good time. Mark your calendar for next summer’s Friday concerts. If you go, bring some lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. The food options were plentiful and delicious. You could even bring your own picnic if you prefer. Finding good parking can be challenging but not impossible. I think these events are the first Friday evening of each month during the summer. We had a nice time with friends and family. One of my favorite gardens! So beautiful and much bigger than I anticipated. I loved the educational section on growing produce/farming for children. If I lived in Durham, I’d come here all the time to read, picnic, and take a stroll. And it’s free! (Just $2/hr for parking). Photos were taken 10/31/21, so some of the flowers weren’t blooming. Would visit again in the Spring.
It’s absolutely stunning, and it’s a fantastic spot for a scenic stroll and photography. There’s a lot to see, so you’ll probably need to come back a couple of times depending on your mood for a long, long walk. A beautiful body of water with this adorable red bridge is only a small part of the scenic beauty that this park has to offer. It’s also completely free. ( Parking is only $2/hr) unfortunately gift shop was closed because of private even.
This botanical garden took me by surprise! It looks small from the road but it is quite large with plenty of walking paths. Even though it was moderately busy when i went it didn’t feel like it since there’s so much space to walk around in!
All the flowers, bushes, and other plants are meticulously maintained and it truly is one of the most beautiful botanical gardens I’ve ever been to.

It’s most famous for its natural light and scenery views for capturing your beautiful memories of any events or occasions? better carry strollers if you going with kids or toddlers as the walk can be easy with it instead of carrying them all the time.definitely makes you feel good and worth visiting this place.
As part of a day of celebration for my daughter’s birthday, my family and I decided to visit the Sarah P. Duke Gardens.
There is no cost to visit these gardens; however, there is a parking fee of $2.00/hr. There is parking available at the main garden entrance area as well as a designated overflow area. Parking could be a bit limited so carpooling is a great idea, and the bus also runs there
These gardens provide a serene atmosphere, beautiful sceneries, a peaceful and relaxing environment, and the opportunity to see some wildlife. There are also great areas for a picnic. I would recommend that you give yourself at least 2 to 3 hours to explore all of the grounds as it is huge and requires a lot of walking.
We had a marvelous time and will visit again. What a great way to start a birthday celebration!
