We spent almost two hundred dollars on our visit. I asked for a bag of ice and I was told we had to purchase something. My husband had to go back to the pro shop to let them know – two Gatorades was purchased. Mind you I renewed a membership card as well. You would have thought this would’ve been part of the amenities – free ice nonetheless. Main concern is in the men’s restroom there are showers but not separated one big open space. Also beach is very rocky at the main area, a little down deeper is super soft exfoliating sand. Beach is a nice size with plenty of space. Playground seems nice as well. Great for families! Easy to access with ample paid parking. You can also consider parking for free near by but just pay attention to street signs. The water is shallow and is perfect for families with young children. The first beach I ever visited where I felt comfortable letting my 3 and 4 year old play in the water without me hovering over them. True moment of relaxation 😌. This is certainly my new spot moving forward. The biggest downside is that you have to pay to gain access. The price is higher than I would have liked (25 per adult for Non calvert County residents) but i guess that cost helps to keep the place from being over crowded. I’m sure we will be back 😀By Turner C (5 months ago)We’re here as a family (2 young kids) on a weekday in October, it’s 70 out, and no one else is really on the beach. It’s a small beach area but has a fun playground (see photo). Nearby are plenty of places to grab coffee, ice cream, and food so this is a super easy day with our kids. FYI there’s no info on the website about after season, but after labor day you don’t have to pay to visit (otherwise it would’ve been $60). The two hour parking right on Bay st isn’t enforced (staff told us), so overall we’ve had a great experience for a 1h day trip to the beach!By Kelsey Bryant Starr (3 months ago)Best experience. This is a great spot for a day trip. Especially during the week if you want to just enjoy the sun and lay out. During school months, it’s usually moms with kids under 5.. my son loved it, water is still a little cold in May, but great for the hot days we get closer to June. it’s clean, well kept. There’s a playground and a shower house. It definitely gets packed in the summer. But it’s still a nice little spot to get a beach type day in without traveling to OC.
It’s not bad for a day trip, although I probably wouldn’t go back myself. Nothing wrong with it though. It’s a long enough beach that you can find a spot if you walk far enough. Lots of kids. Few places to clean off your feet after. $5 per person to get in.
A good place to spend some quality time with family and friends during a sunny day. Ample parking is available,but you have to check availability. During weekends it will be full before 11 am. The water is not so clean to dive for and you also need to be careful with jelly fish. The view of the bay bridge is just mesmerizing. Visit once and enjoy the beach.
Beautiful clean State Park with views of the Bay Bridge. Trails for walking and many scenic views. Picnic areas to grill and have a family picnic. Playground, basketball court, showers, bathroom. A great place to enjoy your day.
I’ve seen Sandy Point many times while crossing the Bay Bridge and finally had an opportunity to visit. My only disappointment was I had waited so long to go to this excellent site.
The beach was huge and it wasn’t crowded. There is space for fishing, swimming, and just chilling by the water. There is also a wonderful trail system and spaces for camping etc. During the peak season, it appears there is a good & rental option but they weren’t opened when I came.
The views are also gorgeous here. Definitely stop at Sandy Point
