The dryers will work maybe half the time. My dryer at home stopped working a couple of weeks ago so after I wash them at home I come here to dry my clothes. Normally the ladies are super nice and the place is pretty clean and kept up. A couple of days ago I walked in at 8:25 pm to dry a small load of towels that will take 15 minutes to dry. They close at 9 p.m. so I had plenty of time to dry my towels in 15 minutes. I put my clothes in the dryer and was walking to use the restroom when the lady who works here looks at me and says “we’re closed” I looked over at the clock that read 8:31 and said “don’t you close at 9? She said “yes, do you have clothes here already? I said “no, I’m just drying a load of laundry that I just put in” she said “oh okay, sorry” and walked away. I get that people want to go home on time but she absolutely could have handled that a little kinder and more professional like maybe saying hello first and then “Just wanted to let you know that we close at 9 so if you’re starting a wash you probably won’t have time to finish”. My load of laundry was finished by like 8:45 p.m., I took them out and walked over to the counter and before I had a chance to fold them she said “you all done” “no” I said “I need to fold them real quick”. She was on my heels as I walked out the door at 8:50 p.m.. And she quickly locked the doors. I got into my car and a man pulled up and walked up to the door, she signaled for him to go around to the side door and I could see her letting him in around the side of the building. Where do I start. We had a large group who purchased rooms. Fire violations of no batteries in the smoke detectors, human fences on the toilets that did not flush appropriately, outlets that did not have power, 1 out of 4 bulbs worked in the bathrooms, heaters when turned on smelled heavily of smoke and burned rubber, black mold in the bathrooms, bathroom fans hanging just from the wires and detached from ceiling, stained sheets, and dirty floors in bathroom. We were charged over $130 per room.
This is unacceptable and the place needs to be shut down by the health and fire department before anything horrible happens. Super 8 headquarters he notified with supporting pictures.
The hotel is reasonably clean. Breakfast decent. The staff is what stands out. I forgot my orthopedic pillow there and I live 2 hours away. Heather was very helpful to work with me to mail the pillow to me. She even drove it to the UPS store for me! Thank you so much Heather. I really appreciate your help. You’re a kind person.
The best thing about this place was the food at the restaurant next door! The Overland Express restaurant.
The room smelled like bleach/chlorine (but no pool here) when I got into it, but in the morning after my shower, the whole room smelled like urine. The sink had at least five different hairs in/around it. The shower had a few hairs in it as well. The floor in the bathroom was peeling up.
The morning of checkout, the breakfast area had no plates and just a few cups. The toaster was on the fritz. The juice machine kept spitting out water instead of OJ.
Just not the greatest start to a day.
Where to start? It was one of the coldest days in Montana in 30 years. Went to Helena for a job, ended up having to stay because I didn’t have my glasses and my eyesight was too poor to drive safely in winter weather. So it was kind of an emergency situation, being diabetic with poor circulation and all. So I booked a room with Super 8 by Wyndham. Once I arrived, I found that I could not find my ID anywhere. So I entered the establishment with every document and credit/debit card I had with me. Well, Mr Front Desk was having none of it. Wouldn’t even consider looking at anything else but my government ID. At first he said he would take any picture ID, but when I produced my work ID, he changed his mind. Defeated, I went back out to my vehicle to search for my ID. He sat in his little chair and watched. Finally, I gave up. It was shortly after 12am. My check in window had expired, according to Mr Night Watch, and I could no longer cancel. Fine, a heads up would have been nice. I’ve worked in customer service my whole life, and I’ve also worked hospitality a good few years. And I know that the bear minimum is NOT good customer service. And not even pretending to have some empathy is deplorable. And I understand that policy is policy, but I also know that the front desk is in charge at night, and has the power to be a human being, show some empathy, and allow a customer arriving with an established reservation on a cold bitter night, with all sorts of proof of whom he is, to check in and get some rest. It is the holidays, after all. But this man was cold and inconsiderate. And he even had the thought to tell me that no place will allow me to check in without ID. How helpful. Well guess what? I did! Because some people have hearts. I could have froze to death this night, if it wasn’t for the kind heart at a competing establishment. So, perhaps this winter you should remember this story if you find yourself in Helena, and give your hard earned money to an establishment that cares. Because this place doesn’t appear to share the decency and morals that we possess here in Big Sky Country.
The room had such a bad odor of chemical that it instantly gave my husband a asthma attack. We lost all of our money for 2 nights as we booked through a third party.
The bed covering had white stains on it.
The floor was so dirty I wouldn’t even take my shoes off.
We spent a total of 5 minutes in that room – left and turned in the key. There was no way we were putting any of our belongings on the bed.
Absolutely disgusting.
