Visiting Panama City from Atlanta and this place is one of the few that stays open past 9 P.M. Not sure if it is a result of the pandemic, but we were hard pressed to even find a pizza spot open after 9 – we didn’t. Stopped in at this place and was seated immediately. The waitress was friendly and our order was taken quickly. They had specialty drinks on the menu and a full bar. I had Jack and Coke that was just right. My fiance had Texas Margarita he enjoyed. We ordered Oyster Rockefeller and Shrimp, Lobster Grits. Our food came out quickly even though there was a crowd. This place has a neighborhood feel and a live band was playing. Anyways, the grits were good and the oysters were amazing. It was just what we needed before heading back to the hotel for the night. I would definitely eat here again.By Tiffany Banks (11 months ago)Dat Cajun Place was a new addition to our list of places to eat and come back to! I will say the chicken from here is unbelievable! Maybe the best I have ever eaten and it doesn’t matter what kind of chicken you get just get it. If it’s on the menu then it’s great and I don’t come to the beach for chicken. The fried chicken may have a slight edge over all the other chicken but you can’t go wrong regardless! Thanks to Dat Cajun Place for a wonderful family meal!!!!By Robert Lemons (8 months ago)Yum! This was a great place to stop for lunch.we sat outside on the porch and ordered a variety of things, which all had great flavor. The alligator bites were the best we’ve had, tasty and juicy, instead of most places where they’re chewy. The cajun chicken pasta was delicious and had a great kick. I’d recommend trying their Rangoon appetizer as it’s a great mixture of spicy and sweet with their strawberry dip.By Erin Bacher (9 months ago)Dat was good stuff! What a nice place for dinner reasonable and delicious! Great service, delicious food and such great prices. Nice size everything and did I mention the great prices. Be prepared to Wait over an hour at anytime!By Joel Zaidspiner (7 months ago)Had a great meal. Food was great and the service was friendly. It was very busy and we had to wait for a table which was not a problem. We would have liked to sit near enough to watch the performers but the only table available for us was on the side near the bar. A bit disappointing but still a great meal.By William Poisson (a year ago)

I should preface this review with the fact that I have never had any oysters of any kind, ever.
I was able to enjoy the cheese covered oysters first. These are cooked and there was nothing terribly fishy or weird about the texture to these. For someone who again has never seen an oyster I have to comment and say, I had no idea they were as big as they are! But that’s the unique part of here. Hunt’s oyster bar has generously sized oysters and seafood which makes this restaurant an excellent place to come and eat. Wait times can be upwards of an hour or more unless you’re there first thing, but it is very much worth the wait.
The fried shrimp was very tasty. The fries are seasoned well and the baby potatoes were another great choice to choose as a side.
I finished off with key lime pie and was very satisfied with the entirety of my meal!
The two hush puppies I had were the only things that could have been seasoned better.
Overall 5 stars! Would love to come back if I’m ever in the area!
By Alain Bucio (8 months ago)Arrived at about 530pm and waited about 45 minutes to be seated. As other reviews stated, small place. Enjoyed a cold beverage from the bar outside while we waited. We ordered an app of the Smoked Tuna Dip, it was absolutely not what we thought it was, but it was AWESOME….
My wife ordered the Buffalo Shrimp Tacos with fries and okra…. They were loaded with shrimp and slaw, I helped with fries and okra, still didn’t finish. She said they were the best for the week. I had Jalapeño Baked Oysters. They were really good, however there were few that were very small… Beer was cold and reasonable, sweet Tea was sweet and good! Service was great considering how busy they were.
My only complaint is there are people walking around with no smiles waiting for you to finish, to rush you out. One gentleman picked up my platter before I was finished eating. He quickly realized he screwed up an placed it back down. No apology, nothing… Stay out of your customers space unless they tell you that you can have their plate. This really made us feel uncomfortable. This took a star from you. Would’ve been 5 stars.
Overall, the food was excellent and I would recommend! Get the Tuna Dip! Don’t rush folks!
By Jason Lane (5 months ago)The vibe of this restaurant was so awesome! The staff was so welcoming and friendly, and it was a treat to see them enjoying their work and embrace a strong camaraderie. The presentation of the crab claws appetizer was unique and very flavorful… probably my favorite dish that I ordered.
Also, this was my first dining experience where I had oysters shucked right in front of me… an experience I dining at the bar. It was awesome!
By Natalie (5 months ago)Hunt’s rocks! A local’s favorite place and certainly no tourist trap. A simple eatery that excels with fun and fast service that offers delicious food.We sat at the bar and were served and entertained by the Shucking Team. Our appetizers of oysters on the half shell were shucked and served in no time: they were clean and salty- yum! Our entree came quick – fried grouper/oyster plate. It was hot and delicious!
Tip of the day: arrive 30 minutes prior to opening. They do not take reservations but arriving early should get you a seat.
By Billy Crews (7 months ago)Locals recommended we try this small seafood 🦞 spot in historic St Andrew’s area of Panama City Beach. We went for lunch. The wait was short. The seafood 🦞 was fresh & delicious. Oyster 🦪 & Flounder were our choices for lunch. Corn 🌽 on cob, fries, fresh coleslaw, & fresh made hush puppies. Their southern ice tea was perfect. So many seafood choices on the menu. Desserts looked amazing but we were too full to try. We will be back another trip. Enjoy!!By Lagene Lee (5 months ago)

Great boiled shrimp. Wish they were offered hot, but only grilled or fried options for hot. Mahi tacos were excellent. Gouda grits tasted great but were warm/room temperature. Fish spread was fantastic, but tortilla chips are not ideal. Made it a little Salty.
We stopped here for dinner on a Sunday evening. Estimated wait time was an hour, but it only took thirty minutes and they texted us as soon as our table was ready. The entire place was packed, but that didn’t hinder any of the wait staff from giving a wonderful experience. Food came quickly, perfectly cooked, and well seasoned. There is also a private beach for the restaurant. I’d highly recommend visiting.
Our first time here and it was pretty good. Our food was about in about 20 minutes. They were pretty busy but our waiter was very kind and kept us updated. The shrimp was cooked very well and crispy. The Buffalo shrimp appetizer was really good. It was sweet and spicy. Along side, I ordered a side of grits which were a little cold but still very flavorful with the smoked cheeses. The view is absolutely beautiful. After we were done with our food, we walked out to the beach.
Great Food with reasonable prices. The service was excellent as well. When we went it was busy and there was a wait, but they got us seated in half the time we was told.
I would totally go back and hangout because they have a great selection of drinks.
My first time experiencing Schooners and want be the last! I had the Blackened Grouper and was delicious! I also had as an appetizer Mahi Bites that taste amazing, must try with jalapeno ranch sauce. To finish off a great meal the key lime pie is a must! Definitely recommend stopping by and try out this amazing beach front location!
