Nice spot to get your seafood grub on. The views are amazing. For those with disabilities; please note there is a bit of a walk and there are steps to conquer, to gain access. Parking is ample and is free.
The prices are great and portion size is perfect! There are lunch specials. I have tried this spot a few times and I have to say, the dinner kitchen crew makes the better tasting orders, but lunch was still okay. I definitely will go back at night!By CC Of VA (a year ago)Great service, great food, great views!
Oyster Rockefeller with crab meat was absolutely delicious!
The ghost pepper wings were good as well… hot but not unbearable. I’ve posted their newest menu of 2022 below. You’re welcome! (Tips hat).By Q. L. (11 months ago)What a fun little spot for a large group dinner. Food was well prepared, our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu with great suggestions and accommodating for some Gluten-free options as well. Walking distance from our stay at the Renaissance Hotel.By Scorpio67 Photography (8 months ago)The food and staff were excellent! We went there for lunch after spending time walking downtown and we were really happy to find out they had an all day happy hour. We ordered a dozen wings and oysters to start with. The wings were delicious but the oyster were mediocre, they had live baby crabs inside them. We did order spicy bloody Marys and they were on point.By Abdo Abla (11 months ago)Delicious seafood! I had the “Crabasaurus Rex” (I recommend!) and “Fresh Oysters” Great set up and nice view to the water if you sit by the windows. Ashleigh was my server, she was very nice.By Rachel C (6 months ago)

The food and service was really great. The place really needs a facelift though. I had the Tuna Bites for appetizer and the 1/2 pound shrimp for my main course meal. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and was so juicy and fresh. The Tuna Bites were really great also. The steamed broccoli for a side was awesome. It was just enough to not feel bloated but filling. The waitress was very polite and kind and made sure to keep the beverage refilled. The decor was really out dated and needs some TLC. It is really open and has that cafeteria feeling.By Martin Carr (2 months ago)This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in my life, Here is why:
1 The ambiance of the restaurant was quaint and it was also clean.
2. The service was outstanding! My drink didn’t get half way empty before refilling.
3. The food was fresh and delicious— the portions are generous, to say the least.
4. The value for the money is well worth it.
By Nicholas Parisi (a year ago)Food was good and so was the service, but when I got the bill they added 18% gratuity to our party of 5. The menu says they add 18% for parties of 7 or more so it was a surprise to see 18% on my bill. I didn’t argue because the server was good, but I did feel like they pulled a fast one on me . Check your bills when going here!By Kellie B (a month ago)Our waitress Jess was fabulous. We had our DC girlfriends Christmas Luncheon for Toys for Tots! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great & we all donated a gift to Toys for Tots. Connie Stanton was gracious enough to deliver the toy’s & filled the empty basket. We will be back to Surf Rider in January to enjoy some more great food and service!! Thank Ya’ll so much for everything ❤By Debbie Mccuiston (2 months ago)My wife and I had a fantastic meal here. The calamari and she crab soup started dinner and both were very good. My wife had the Crab cake and shrimp dinner and she absolutely LOVED the crab cake. It was all huge lump crab meat and looked amazing. We will absolutely be back. If you are looking for a delicious seafood dinner in Hampton roads check out Surf Rider.By Chris Marois (7 months ago)

I got the Buffalo wings and she crab soup here. 0/2 for a good crab soup in Norfolk at this place. The chicken wings were decent. Sauce was pretty basic and they were fried well. Whole place looks like it came out of the eighties and hadn’t been updated. If you’re looking for a good local restaurant with good food is suggest looking elsewhere.
I attended a luncheon for one of my co-workers, the service was very slow, but the staff was nice. I had the California salad without the craisins; my order was accurate and the salad was pretty good. The restaurant seemed short on staff, as a lot of places are. It took a while to get drinks (water) refilled and I finished my meal before some of the people at my (7 of us) table received their meal. I’ve been here 4 times and only returned because my co-worker wanted to come here. I’d never come here as a personal choice.
Not pictured: cheese curds which were delicious! I had never had a batter on cheese curds like theirs before. Reviewing 4 stars because 2 burgers were ordered the exact same way (medium), but one came out very pink. The fries were delicious along with the mashed potatoes!
Rodger Brown- known for the name perhaps, makes people wonder about this establishment. It’s nothing spectacular, took about 7 minutes or more to be seated, no one to greet you when you walk in, those that do walk by just look as if you’re invisible. No, they weren’t busy. Our waitress was friendly, food was just okay. I ordered a mushroom and swiss burger, bun was hard & cold as if toasted and waited for burger 🤦🏾♀️. The meat was seasoned good though, I had to wait additional time for mayo. The steak quesadilla was bland and jasmine rice, hard- unknown additional $2 for a side that he didn’t even eat. Always heard of Rodger Brown restaurant/bar, well it’s okay; something different to do, go to but could be better.
I just love this place. I used to work here and the food still is awesome and the atmosphere is so relaxing and it is such a nice family setting. I went with my family just to have some dinner and two hours surprise there was a live band playing my baby girl had her first concert she’s 3 and she had a blast. Food was delicious drinks are always great.
