5 Replies to Falmouth’s Best Kept Secrets: The Top 12 Beaches

  1. Lovely beach, car park right on the beach, really good cafe, nice food and shop. Perfect walk along the coast, great views, piece and quiet

  2. Lovely beach with a great cafe. Stunning views and not commercialised. No idea how busy it gets in high season, but quiet at present.

  3. Nice little beach, no lifeguard service but it is pretty sheltered and the beach shelves gently into the sea.

Cafe on the beach, lots of food, coffees and ice cream. They even do doggy ice cream for your 4 legged friend.

There is also a water sport rental place and public lavatories.

  4. A really lovely little beach, especially at low tide. Wonderful cafe which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at a reasonable price. Dog friendly beach. The car park is about £3 for the day. There’s a nice walk up the cliff and over to the next beach, takes 40-60 minutes each way. The road down to the beach is quite steep and narrow so just bear this in mind. We visited everyday on our holiday!

  5. Great little beach as always. We spend a lot of time here and it’s ideal for swimming and kayaking as it doesn’t get too rough. The beach cafe is great and not overly expensive. You can rent kayaks and sup boards from the lovely family that run it along with the safety gear and wetsuits. It costs £4 on the main beach or £5 across the road to park for the whole day. I recommend getting there early to get a space.

Parking would be free on the main road, which will be quite full during holiday periods.
Access is down wide, fairly steep concrete slope to the cafe and seating. There is a further slope or steps down to the beach. The beach is narrow but sandy. The sea floor slope off quite steeply from the shore so watch little ones. Not sure about loos?
The cafe has a very good range of beach side food and drinks.

    The best beach in Falmouth!
Castle beach is small but beautiful. Lovely for a swim, ideal for rockpooling at low tide. Very good for families with young kids, or if you’re looking to get away from busy Gylly beach.
Castle Beach Cafe always has lovely coffee, food, and super friendly staff.
There are also public toilets at the end of the beach which are usually clean and not very busy.
You’ll have to check the council restrictions for dogs on the sand in summer, but they are always allowed on the concrete walkway.

    Definitely recommend!

Beautiful beach with amazing rock pools. The sea does cover the beach at high tide so watch the tide times. Has toilets. There are a few little secluded spots off to one side above the rock pools. We had a lovely afternoon here.

This beach was absolutely lovely. The smell of the fresh sea air was beautiful. There was a nearby cafe and bakery where you could get a Mr.Whippy for just £3.00!

We went and enjoyed chicken salad which we bought ourselves while enjoying the sound of the seagulls and walking on the soft sandy shore.

We did paddle boarding and the staff were friendly, funny and very understanding when explaining what to do when paddling on the board.

When buying souvenirs the lady who was managing the beach store was very friendly and commented on my purse. I had a lovely time and would 100% recommend coming to this beach as it is easy to navigate and there is no hills to worry about if you have mobility issues.

DO NOT miss what this beach has to offer as it feels like your in a movie the minute you look at the sea!

Clean, everything close buy, amazing garden nearby, pebbly so will require hard footwear, really busy at peak times.

Totally well set up for visitors. Large sit in restaurant/café (top qual), takeaway snack/ice cream/drinks shack, toilet and water refills block. Fine stone beach good for kids but it’s not sand. Crystal clear waters and soft waves.

Secluded pebble beach, closest to Truro . Suitable for kayaking, rowing, puddling and small designated area for swimming. Car parking owned by unpleasant guy who put charge even for loading boats , £5 for launching. There is a lovely car park near the church on the top of the hill in the village with a splendid serenity views while walking down the beach. The car park charge is charitable recommended £2 and you could stay as long as you wish. God save us all.

Picturesque waterside area. Mostly shingle and rock. Lots of people sail and paddle board here.

No shops around other than a cafe which opens in certain time. Car parking charges £1.50 for a hour we could not able to stay more than 30 minutes.

This was our closest beach when staying at the Valley resort.
Small car park but we found parking despite it being the Summer holidays.
Lovely walk along the rocky shoreline.

Used to be my go to place for exploring Carrick Roads in my kayak. They’ve put the prices up to astronomical levels (£6.50 for eight hours!) Hey ho, that’s progress for you I guess. I’m sure there’ll be plenty of summer people with cash to burn. Wont be going back there again. Luckily I conducted a few recces and I’ve found a couple more free parking spots (no I aint sharing!).

Beautiful beach. Perfect for families and swimming. We went late afternoon and still enjoyed watching the kids swimming in a fairly chilly sea. The water is crystal clear and looks amazing (despite being an overcast day)There is also a nature reserve opposite and a pay and display car park. Beach was clean and is sand and shingle. Would definitely visit again.

Love this beach, pebbly but runs to sand as tide falls. Steep to start then levels out so there is plenty of safe paddling at low/half tide. Paddle board and kayak hire is cheaper than Gillyvase beach round the corner and you can go to a hidden beach and caves to the left of the bay. Cafe on the beach is popular. There’s a posh fish restaurant on the rocks above, Hooked on the Beach. They have a separate trailer that sells beers/light bites and cocktails. Great for post beach stop off before waking home.

Swanpool Beach is an absolutely beautiful small beach in Cornwall. It’s so picture perfect with crystal clear water and so many fun activities to do there. You almost feel as if you’re abroad if it’s a really sunny and clear sky day. The food section has a huge selection of ice creams, drinks and hot food at very affordable prices. You can take paddle boarding classes, there’s a swimming club, kayaking and many more activities. It’s a great day out for kids and families. Opposite the beach is a mini golf course and you can see yourself being in that area for hours and hours.
Take a walk through the south west coast path and enjoy the the fresh ocean breeze as you approach the next beach called Gyllyngvase Beach (a 10 minute walk or less). There you’ll find a bigger beach with more space and even more food options like their famous pizza. You will be tempted to take a lot of pictures and videos of the vast ocean view and the scenery all around you.

Cloudy day in February, ideal conditions for a leisurely walk over the rocks, at low tide from Gyllyngvase beach beach to Swanpool beach. Soft sand, glorious views of the protected beach, that invited several divers, swimmers and kayakers to enter the calm water

Beautiful beach, people are nice and there is an ice cream place with some great choices.
