  1. A pretty beach with unique views, but it was a little small and crowded. The sand felt great, but it descends sharply into the surf and creates a strong current going back out into the cove – so watch your kids closely! We went mid-week, just before the season really got going and it was hard to get photos without including the crowd along the beach, but it was enjoyable nonetheless!

  2. Amazing beach. It’ll be crowded and the water will be freezing but a beautiful view and some of the best waves. Fun climbing spot on the right as well. Parking will be a nightmare so have patience when heading in or prepare for a longer walk.

  3. Only beach in acadia national forest. Great place to enjoy the warm sun and cold waters of the atlantic. The sand here is unique because 70% of it is ground sea shells. Small beach and usually pretty crowded. It has a overlookpoint on the right for which you need to get through some rocks. Getting a place to park can be a challenge during busy weekends. The parking lot is usually full and people park along the park loop road as well and walk down to the beach. There are restrooms and changing rooms here as well. Must visit spot in acadia.

  4. Best combination of white sand, beautiful rock formations and pine trees!! ❤️ we went in August and it’s crowded and water is freezzziinnggg! We enjoyed it nevertheless! The parking lot is full so we have to find parking in the side of the street, even the street is so full we have to park like a mile away, the views were beautiful and not so bad of a trek. So you can combine nature hike then end in the beach 🏖

  5. This is the beautiful beach next to Beehive summit trail, we can relax at this beach after hike, it’s always crowded.

Great beach wasn’t too crowded. Soft sand for a good bit of it, down near the water was a bit rocky, there was also large beautiful rocks to climb and tide pools to explore. Will definitely go back. Parking was a little confusing to me at first and it was great that there is a public bathroom that was not an outhouse! but it was small a little dirty the time we went.

Great local public beach. The.dog community is great. It’s beautiful there. Great walking trails.

Best dog allowed beach I ever went
My baby loved it and bet she wants to go back
I will definitely go back with other dogs

I came because of the comments about the friendliness of the area and the people with the dogs… I found this and the opposite of friendly people. If you don’t like dogs you don’t have to be rude to say things

Beautiful beach, bad “compromise” on dog rules. Previously in the off season this beach was off leash all day, but as of Nov 25th, dogs must be leashed from 10am-3pm, Oct 1st-April 30th. A woman was there photographing people without their permission for having their dogs off leash today.

    ****UPDATE*****
The anti-dog lobby has gained ground. Beach now nearly unusable for off-leash time. Any pretense of “sharing” with dog owners can be discarded, I think. New photos reflect the extensive rules as of July 27, 2022. Police and rangers walking the beach to enforce. YAY!! So fun!! Never going back.

Amazing beach. We travel a lot and we compare this one to Mayflower Beach in Cape Cod. Of course, water is cold so ocean water activities are limited, but this is Maine, so not subtracting one star for that. Absolutely bring inflatable for kids or teens to go up and down the river.

When tide is going in, the river water is flowing in and kids can ride all the way from mouth of the river at ocean, under bridge, to sand flats, get out in right, then walk through parking lots back. When tide is going our, the flow reverses and they can ride back from last the bridge into the ocean. It’s a lot of fun for them!

The beach is HUGE when tide is out. Almost too large haha looooong walk to the ocean, but gorgeous!

Be there by 9 AM to find parking. We were on a cool not hot day, Saturday, partly clouded, but Labor Day weekend and we took one of the last 5 remaining spots at 9:20 AM. Beach is wonderful. Bring inflatables for the River.

Subtracting one star as it is not possible to get out on main road after you are done with the beach. There are multiple converging roads and no street light. Traffic is at stand still and some have stop sight and others don’t, however, people ignore stop sign because otherwise they will never get out, and that intersection looks like the worst one I have ever seen with all cars in the middle of it congested driving in different directions.

Enjoy the breeze, beach and wildlife along sandy shore. The Ogunquit community has quaint shops, friendly merchants and hospitality.

Amazing beach. We visited this place on a sunday on our drive back from acadia. The beach was crowded but no issues finding parking. Great place to take a dip in the atlantic during the summer. The water was chilly but good. Highly recommend visiting this place if you are visiting Maine.

    Very beautiful beach.
We went on Saturday and it was packed.
Unfortunately the restaurant was close 😕, so only ice-cream and shakes are available.
Rest rooms were clean and housekeeping staff was cleaning the rest rooms regularly.
We really appreciate there hard work.
Parking fee is 25 dollars for whole day.
I think Parking is close after 9 pm.
Country side area around the beach is beautiful.
Water on this beach is very cold.
Overall our day was fantastic there.
Hopefully we will be back soon.

Amazing beach for long walks, hanging out at the beach, and we recently came on a day with big swells coming in. It is a state park, no dogs in season (April-September), and fees per person apply. Can be very packed in the summer with a line of cars to enter. Worth making a whole day of it!

I love walking for miles here during low tide. We discovered this place when my boys were very young and loved watching them play for hours in the tide pools. My boys are much older now and they still love walking around in each tide pools. Make sure you go there when you can experience the low tides.

What an awesome beach!! Took a road trip out east and this was one of my stops. Not many people on the beach that day and we could walk for miles. Amazing. Can’t wait to go back!!

Beautiful wide open beach soft sand, very clean with bathroom and showers.

Beautiful beach. They do limit the amount of people going in due to lifeguards understaffed. This became a huge problem for my friend and I who traveled 2 different cars at different times. I arrived later around 12 just to find all outside parking was taken and we weren’t allowed to enter even if we parked somewhere else. There was no phone reception. We couldn’t communicate with our friends who were already inside. We waited at least 40 minutes for them to reopen the parking lot to let people in.

There are multiple picnic tables, small charcoal BBQs, and the smallest stretch of beach I’ve ever seen. It should be called “Peacock hill to the water”. They also asked for $2 a child and $3 an adult. The only reason I gave 2 stars rather than one is I had a good laugh.

Great place to watch beautiful sunsets. Take the kids swimming, has Porta potty, not a big beach front but does have an area to enter water to swim. You can picnic here just sit by the water whatever your heart contents.

As my 5 year old says: “There are no peacocks. There is no beach. The water is mucky. I don’t want to go there.”
    By SheMightBeAnna (5 months ago)
Town charges 3 dollars at the gate. Cash only. This is a gravel bottom pond with pretty views and picnic tables, grills and toilets all available on the compact site. There are better places to swim but this is a nice site for a family picnic or bbq.

Great place to swim and picnic. The swimming areas are small but there is a perfect blend of shade and sun. There are picnic tables as well both in sun, shade under trees and under little pavilions. There are charcoal grills. There is a decent hill to walk down to get to the beach and picnic areas. There is an old style outhouse, basically a shed with a pit. This is a great place to go if you’re looking to swim or picnic without all of the tourists. Because this is a town park, there is a fee for entrance.
