What an incredible experience. Always wanted to go but a friend who just went highly recommended it. We went as a family of four and got to meet an actual world or to Gunner. Being able to talk to him and listen to the stories was worth the visit by itself. One of the most interactive museums I’ve ever been to including the 4D theater. I highly recommend that if you are on the fence and interested in the history you must go! This one is much more interactive and tells amazing stories.
The staff were kind and extremely helpful. The layout made the museum the most accessible ♿ from any that I experienced. The cost of the tickets were fair and you’ll spend enough time to make it worth it.

So much to see that spending 6 to 8 hours is reasonable, so if able, make multiple trips. Recommend getting the dog tag of a true life participant so you can follow their journey. Clever info stations are available throughout. This place gives a fitting tribute to all of the people who helped and sacrificed, each in their own ways. Each room is vibrantly detailed that I feel like I’m a part of the action. There’s a wonderful balance between historical footage, and text panels. You’re immersed from the start because you’re given a “dog tag” ID where you can collect digital artifacts and follow a real soldier along their historical path. Such a wonderful place with so many great activities all together in a vast space. My wife and kids loved it. The willow trees are beautiful. Can have some nice coffee in the park as well. Take the time out to go here. There is a street car going there from the canal street. The park is wide spread, a good cafe there and a few hundred years old oak tree. There were some ducks and birds around too. Park benches, live oaks, water features, and of course the must-see art museum. You can also enjoy Cafe Du Monde, with a large patio seating area. The park is HUGE, so we did not see it all. However, we were in the area of the Singing Oak and the lake. The park was lovely, with a variety of plant life. The walking/biking trail was clean and fairly well maintained. There was one low spot between the road leading to the Art Museum and the trail that had water over it. It has rained every day this week, so that my be unusual? We saw one piece of trash.
People were walking/biking/skateboarding on the path. People were friendly. Wheeled travelers kept to the right (as instructed by signage) and there was no drama or issues that we saw. The whole experience was pleasant (except for when I thought I could paddle a swan boat for an hour, but that was my fault and a different review. 😁
By Brooke Zeno (5 months ago)Kids had an excellent time. There is a small amusement park here called carousel park. Very affordable. ~$20/person. My kids absolutely loved it! Several fun rides very similar to a stationary state fair, except so the rides were included with admission. I do wish New Orleans took better care of the place and maybe subsidized it considering a big part of the park is city owned (outside the amusement park). It looks a tad aged, but even so it was totally worth the visit. They should advertise it more and clean up and make it a better known tourist attraction. Seems like a missed opportunity for New Orleans. The French quarters was fun and interesting for adults, but this place was a far better child friendly experience. They even had an additional “story park” that cost a little extra but is for toddlers and a little older who need parents to ride the rides. This is more jungle gym climbing and small cute houses that you read short stories at.This place could do very well if hailed as a tourist hotspot for people with children. Come on New Orleans, get it together. It’s an excellent investment that could aid in excellent returns.

Stunning view of the oak lined boardwalk. We did the tour of the big house and highly recommend it. Anthony was our guide and was full of interesting facts. He did a great job telling all about the house; his original accent really added to the experience. As good as the tour was, the highlight is walking the grounds. We got there for the earliest tour in the morning and it was just perfect because we had the time to enjoy the beautiful 200 years old oaks and the alley before it got crowdier. We loved the house, it was so well preserved! The tour guide was very nice and she answered to all our questions. Maybe the tour was a little bit too fast (we would have liked to have more time to read about the history of the place, about the artifacts, but while we were doing that the tour guide was already talking in another room so we had to rush). Also, you can’t take pictures on the inside which we would have loved to, but at least we could take pictures on the balcony and it’s definitely a view worth taking pictures of! It was very nice to visit also the slave houses and learn more about the history and evolution of the plantation, it made the whole visit more grounded in the reality. It’s an hour from New Orleans, but if you have the chance, absolutely go and visit it, it’s worth it!By Ruth Cornea (4 months ago)It is an amazing plantation, rich in cultural history, incredible architecture, and an intriguing life story behind it! The land around the main home is breathtaking!! The huge trees, and fields as far as you can see. Staff here are so genuinely friendly and helpful. We went in the little store and there are such an interesting variety of gifts, or souvenirs. I enjoyed every moment of this tour!! They also have a bar outside that offers you authentic drinks from the time period this was a working plantation. Mint julep was one!! It’s a lot of fun!!By Elizabeth Frazier (2 months ago)Oak Alley Plantation is a very beautiful place to visit. The home was built in the 1840s and is beautiful on the inside. They do not allow pictures to be taken inside the big house. You can take all the pictures and videos of the outside and of the slave quarters. The trees on the premises are over 200 years old. I highly recommend if your in the area to stop by and see it! They do charge admission and offer military discounts. Not sure why but you can’t take pictures inside the main house. I really would have liked to so I could have different pictures than the website.
Other than the main house the rest is self guided and you can take pictures.
There are signs throughout to explain what you are looking at.

SUCH AN AMAZING PARK!! Amazing walkway around the park, very beautiful oak trees with hanging moss and vines, and a nice golf course nearby as well. Went here on a splendid day with perfect weather and really enjoyed the nature. The moss hanging from the tree added a sense of peace. It was such a sweet event.
There is plenty of room for lots of guest to be seated around the tree in a beautiful semi-circle.

The lush greenery, coupled with the sound of the water fountain makes this park a dream. The lane designations allowed walkers to stroll gingerly and bikes to ride, without colliding or infringing upon each others space. I enjoyed a cup of coffee in front of the water and later went for a walk. Very nice & clean area! So much beauty in just the scenery & landscaping. Definitely a beautiful spot for touristy type photos. The atmosphere is upbeat and friendly! If you’re in the area, DEFINITELY walk through, it will leave you feeling refreshed & renewed!
Always a great place to come to for relaxation and peacefulness. Great place of historic land right here in my backyard. If you are willing to open your eyes while you are here you can find a plethora of things to do other than just site see. It was beautiful and clean during my visit.
Very beautiful place, the lane is so beautiful. Tourist spot and nicely maintained. Must go and visit this particular spot, picturesque and has so many eateries all around the place. It is the most fun place to be in New Orleans. Must visit in the evening time, french quarter is walkable and is so amazing to enjoy. For bright pictures and photography visit in morning hours on weekdays, not many people around and good time for photoshoot.
So fun to walk around and be entertained, buy art, MEET the artists, get your palm read, or just relax. Definitely a tourist MUST. Great way to spend some time and get a feel for how much New Orleans loves its art. What talent in the square! So many pieces I would love to own if I had a few extra thousand to spend.
This has probably been my favorite place in New Orleans. The shops and boutiques surrounding the square are enjoyable with helpful, welcoming staff. Street performers were awesome! Impressive artists had their work on display and for sale, bought a few pieces. I highly recommend bringing cash cause you will want to tip the performers and buy some art. Love the culture of the area!
