Colorful and stunning views! Nice area to hike for the day and take awesome pictures. The hiking trails were pretty easy and not busy, weather was perfect. There are short walks and longer walks. A nice public restroom next to parking lot 2. The visitor center is awesome! They have a nice little gift shop and you can pick up a map there. We spent hours enjoying the sights and could have easily spent longer. There are many trails. Animals to watch for. The restrooms are very well maintained, as is the whole park. Dog, kid friendly. The park is easy to drive in and through. The actual area is at the foot of the mountains and not in the mountains. The terrain is easy to walk. I has areas for you to walk and many, many people do that. It has areas to bike ride and it also has places to horse ride. The are separated places so you can enjoy whatever you are choosing to do. You can drive through the area and it is a nine mile trip, I was told. You can take a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery. The trails are wide and well worn so that anyone can walk them. There is a lot of traffic but it is worth the effort and be ready to take pictures. You could definitely spend a day just walking and riding. Loved it. It’s free and it’s so big that there is so much to see and so many beautiful photos to be taken. It’s a great place for kids and adventures with lots of parking areas to see a bunch of different sights within the park. I believe they said it’s 7 miles total. The Denver Zoo is one of the best zoos I’ve been to. I would give it third place – behind only San Diego & the National Zoo. It’s a very big zoo for being right in the city, with easy access from downtown and 25. Admission is incredibly reasonable and is a better deal than the aquarium. The enclosures are great and the animals seem very well cared for. We did a “behind the scenes” with birds of pretty and it was excellent! Tons of great information the keepers were amazing and clearly loved the animals they work with.

This zoo is much better than the Birmingham Zoo. I would rate the zoo five star, but several exhibits are closed for renovations. The elephant show was great. We were able to see one tiger. The other one was sleeping on a platform and only partially visible. We saw some lions, seals and sea lions. Our time was limited, so we did not see much else. There was a queue at the ticket kiosk so buy your ticket in advance. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes. There are lots of benches to rest along the way. Also, they have water fountains and misters. I love how they spread out different themes throughout the park ie: makes it look like you’re walking through the ocean and another part like you’re walking through the jungle. Over 1 million lights! Getting the glow pass and the zoo it all pass are great additions! The glow pass gives you 3-D glasses that are VERY fun & unique to view all the lights! That pass also gives you a nice insulated souvenir cup. The Zoo it all pass gives you unlimited rides on the train, carousel and 4-D show which is perfect for families of all ages. It’s all about mountains!! Breathtaking views and chilly weather almost throughout the year. We experienced snowfall in May last week. Plan your trip ahead and make sure the weather is comfortable to you. Do visit the bear lake and the scenic drive to the top. You will see plenty of trails and historic markers throughout this park so make sure to stop and read some and hike some of these beautiful trails. We set up camp in Moraine campground and glad we did. Waking up to the stunning views of the mountains and wildlife was so worth it. This National Park is a MUST!By Analicia Perez (3 months ago)Bear Creek was beautiful. We did the hike to Nymph lake. It was gorgeous. The walk there is all uphill. There are lots of big boulders to sit on and rest along the way. The trail around the lake was nice to do as well. We saw some deer and some little chipmunk like animals too. Overall in the park we saw several elk at maybe four different locations. The park is absolutely beautiful. Driving up to the Alpine region gives you a completely different experience. I really do not like those restrooms that are not hard plumbed, oh well maybe someday the park will upgrade. That is the only negative thing I can say. I strongly strongly recommend this park. You do have to make reservations for different things so please take care to do that on the website.By Kim Reid (4 months ago)I’m still on a Rocky Mountain high! ⛰😌We started the day off at 4 a.m. to not worry about the timed entry. Waking up early and not stressing if we would be able to find a parking spot was well worth it. We used our headlamps for light until the sun came up.
Our first day there we hiked the Sky Pond Trail via Glacier Gorge Trail. Along the way we stopped at a couple of other lakes including Loch and Glass Lake. The hike totaled ~10 miles and took 7 hrs with the time basking in the views. Each stop provided a unique setting to take in the breathtaking surroundings. Being out on nature nourishes my soul and resets my wandering mind into the present moment.
Second day we decided to wake up early again but do a shorter more relaxing hike. We trekked to the Emerald lake trail and scrambled up a few rocks to catch the beautiful sunrise. On our way back, we enjoyed Dream Lake while sharing about our dreams which left us inspired. Nymph Lake left us feeling magical as we gazed at the bright yellow blooming lotus. We saved Bear Lake for last which was a nice and easy stroll to reminisce about our hikes and plan for our next adventure. We hiked ~4 miles in 2.5 hours. Until next time Rocky Mountain!

Best zoo I’ve ever been to! The animal enclosures are large with shade and running water. You get to interact with the animals not just stare at them from a distance. Feeding the giraffes was amazing! My kids were excited to stand right next to penguins, wallaby and feed tropical birds. The best part is that the zoo has a timed entry which really helps control the crowd size, we went on Memorial weekend and had zero lines.By Terri A (7 months ago)Amazing zoo experience. Just WOW to the people that trained the Grizzly bears. They are so trained and is so fun to watch. I felt like a kid watching that. Besides that organization in the zoo is perfect. It’s windy on the mountain so a jacket might be good to. There is coffee at the Cozy Goat. The “Loft” has reptiles, I thought it was a restaurant from the outside. There is a lot to see but can be done in a few hours. Look at the website for scheduled feedings and animal encounters before you go. Like wolf feeding at 11:00 penguin feeding at 3:15.
The morning is less crowded. There is is another attraction to see while you are at the Zoo! The Shrine of the Sun is located above the Zoo, your Zoo ticket includes admission to the Shrine of the Sun. Shrine closes at 4pm so you will want to make sure you leave time for this. Or go before you go into the Zoo. There is a drive up gate to the left of the main Zoo entrance and you drive to the little shack and show your Zoo ticket. Then you can drive up to the Shrine through the Zoo. This is the only way to get there. The Zoo doesn’t advertise this at all. Also your Zoo ticket is good for 2 weeks for the Shrine. If you have 4 people in the car you need to show 4 Zoo tickets, and i believe if you are a member of the zoo your annual pass works for the Shrine too.By Brandy Mitchell (7 months ago)This is one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to and I consider myself a zoo enthusiast as I usually take a day to visit the zoo anywhere I go. This zoo is a special place nestled into the mountains it’s one of the highest zoos in the world and you can hand feed one of the largest beards of giraffe in North America. You can even take a ski lift up the mountain to whiteness an amazing view and glide over the top of some exhibits for a unique view into the enclosures. Wow what a location. It’s now on my bucket list of places to see a concert. With stunning views and fantastic trails for hiking. Really enjoyed watching the people exercising at the amphitheater. This place has had the the who’s who in music play to the masses. Can’t wait to go back.
This review is strictly from a hiking and outdoors perspective, not from a music perspective. We absolutely love this park, the hiking trails are nice and well maintained. The area is absolutely spectacular with not just the amphitheater, and surrounding area. The Red Rocks Amphitheater is also amazing, you have to climb the stairs at least once, it is harder than it looks. The trading post is also worth a stop. If you see one thing, explore the amphitheater. If you have more time try out some of the hiking trails for a more in depth and serene activity. Visiting after snow is also an amazing experience.
I’m not much of a concert goer, but coming here literally had me in tears it’s so beautiful. You can come in for free when no concerts or events are happening and we got lucky enough to come in on a beautiful day when the concert that evening was doing a free run through and got to experience the magnificence of this amphitheater.
All I can say is, it was borderline life changing. I will go back to a formal event here and I don’t know if any other performance venue can ever compete with this place.
Also, lots of great trails around that are amazing as well. A must see!
Such a great experience. The Red Rocks look like they were just put there. Lots of walking…pretty good hike to get your steps in for sure. It is all outdoors. You want to enter from the top and go down to your seats. Most of it is Gen admission so come early to get seats. Good sound from anywhere in there. Dress for the weather and be prepared for change in weather. I would come back.
First concert at this venue and I was absolutely blown away. The beauty of the sun rising over Denver in the background, the way the music carried through the rocks, the energy of the crowd…it was all spectacular. Food, beverages and bathrooms were all on point. Be sure you’re prepared to climb steps to get from the parking lot to the venue and again to your seats…we forgot a blanket, so remember to bring one for fall shows, it was pretty cold once the sunset. Overall an amazing experience and we’ll be back.
