When I got there, I told them it was a surprise for my husband‘s 53rd birthday. I asked if the river view rooms were all the same. The hotel clerk said she would check if the room with the best view was available. She said it was available and she gave the room to us! It was amazing! The only thing blocking the view was a few pine trees. She also gave us two free drink and one appetizer voucher! The room was a semi suite with two queen beds. The beds were super comfortable with very clean bedding, plenty of pillows on each bed, and the covers were so fluffy and soft!! The room was on the second floor and the balcony faced the restaurant, which looked so romantic and the lighting on the restaurants outside patio seating was so tranquil to look at from our balcony! Our sliding glass door onto our balcony was basically one whole wall and when open you could listen to the river’s rapids or sit in the chairs on the balcony with the slider closed and enjoy it that way! The room was very clean, comfortable, romantic if you want romantic or fun if you want fun! I ordered food from the bar menu and the food was amazing and worth the price for me ?
I highly recommend this hotel!
By Lisa Sunshine Oviatt (2 months ago)The location is amazing. Being able to listen to the river is so wonderful. The tissues and toilet paper leave something to be desired. I personally didn’t find the bedding to be particularly comfortable, but everyone is different…I can be picky. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I liked the fridge/freezer combo. There was a microwave and coffee maker in the room too. There is a pool, though we didn’t come prepared this time. I’d return again.By Daedra Buntin (a month ago)Great place! Enjoyed the heated pool when we got in. It’s open to 10pm. The bar looked good. People were having a fun time. The restaurant was busy for dinner. It was a little bit pricy for us. We ended up eating at Olive Garden. Breakfast is available for an extra charge. The room is big and bed is very comfortable. The bathroom has a nice sized tub with a hot shower. There are two sinks. One is outside the bathroom for my wife. Nice sized refrigerator and large screened TV. We were on the first floor in the second building closest to the pool. It worked out perfectly for us. Since it was on the ground floor we had sliding doors to the outside. This made it easy for packing and unloading car. I would definitely recommend this Hotel for staying!By Bob Morris (3 months ago)This was a thoroughly average stay considering the price I paid for this stay. The room itself was high quality but the wood fire place left a strong odor. I had a lot of little problems with the room and it’s cleanliness such as: Netflix didn’t work, a few cable channels didn’t work, room thermostat remote did not work, lots of spider webs and bugs on the patio, found a long hair on the bed spread, poorly cleaned shower with dirt in the upper corners of the walls, clogged bathroom sink.
The best thing was probably just being by the river itself and the bed being super comfortable.
I called the front desk on the morning of my departure to let them know about all the problems but was responded to with a could care less attitude, no offers of apologies and no mention of any compensation on a $250/night room.
Overall, disappointing stay that all could have been great with an extra bit of care given by housekeeping, maintenance and the front desk.
By John Graham (3 months ago)We were over booked and arrived just before midnight – after driving 9hrs, just to be told that there wasn’t a room for us. The person who was working the night desk basically said it wasn’t there problem – the company also didn’t call us to let us know, and didn’t even try to find us accommodations somewhere else. It was nearly 2 by the time we were able to check in somewhere else.
The place looked nice but I don’t think the service matches the quality.By Craig Flexen (C. F.) (4 months ago)

We stayed for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice room on the river with lots of wildlife to observe. Room was perfect for us and our dogs. Enjoyed the sauna and pool too. It’s hard to find a good sauna even at luxury hotels these days. Love the affordable excellence? will definitely be back.By Sarah Cammaroto (6 months ago)Don’t forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any place. This website will compare hundreds of booking websites and normally will have rooms a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is the best rated in this area. I have been coming here for years. If you stay for a few days you definitely won’t be let down.
This hotel had amazing room qualities. There was a fireplace, a hot tub in the room, a back porch, a small countertop, refrigerator, microwave, 3 different sinks and the most comfortable bed I’ve slept in in such a long time. Truly enjoyed my stay and truly recommend for anyone close by
By Eddie Garcia (a month ago)The room was spacious. Location was great if you have dogs. The grounds were beautiful. Service? Does that include room cleanliness? It’s really bad when you check in and find a huge bag of garbage and dirty towels and sheets sitting at the entrance of your room. Even worse when you enter the room and the floor is super dirty with dog fur and debris everywhere. *sigh* We had to request a vacuum and WE vacuumed our floor when we checked in. I managed to still enjoy my stay, despite the disgusting appearance of the room when we checked in.By Chuck Shaw (3 months ago)Our room is spacious and a curious mix of updates (wood floor laminate and a gas fireplace) and dated decorations and kitchen area. The best part is that it looks right on the Deschutes River! The young woman at the front desk was courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. But maintenance appears way behind needed upkeep and painting. The price was right midweek, though!By Christine Bierman (4 months ago)The room was very spacious which was perfect for our 2 babies and 2 travel cribs. The room had a kitchen which was a nice plus too, the room was a bit dated but worked. However it was supposed to have 2 queen beds, instead it had 1 bed and 1 couch pullout bed. The couch bed was so uncomfortable I had to fold it back up and just sleep on the couch. There were no signs to find the ice machine, walked all around until giving up and going to the office to ask. The one he instructed us too had the door locked, we found one on the floor above us but it was not working.By Chelsea Hopewell (5 months ago)

I used to work here years ago when it was under a different name, and the new owners have changed it a little bit but it’s for the better. They have fantastic food and a great atmosphere and fantastic service! Especially the restaurant kitchen supervisor, Bobbi Fisher… She was extremely helpful and great about accommodating my little dog, in a dining area of the restaurant that wasn’t being used at the time, because it was a hot day and I didn’t want to leave him outside in the pickup. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone whether you’re single, couples or have a family. It’s well worth the drive to come and experience the atmosphere, food and service!By Darren Byers (3 months ago)Clean accommodations with a fantastic patio area with severally hot tubs and pools. Also, balconies that faced the forest were a real treat!
The reason for the 3 stars and not 5:
No pool towels at the pool.
The men’s locker room smells strong of urine and the changing room floor was coated in grime and stains that smelled like, you guessed it, urine. Looked like those facilities hadn’t been cleaned in weeks even though staff was seen several times inspecting the area…
Bleach ain’t that expensive, y’all 😉
By Alex Swicegood (5 months ago)Our room was very clean, spacious, and functional and had a nice balcony with a view. Playground and pools were great with the kids. Nice low impact biking trail nearby. Not too far from town or other attractions. Restaurant was fine. The shop with souvenirs/outdoor gear had friendly staff and normal retail prices. We were really happy to have chosen 7th mountain for our 3-night stay.By Mike Clarke (3 months ago)Updating my review… because we were in room 1525 which was nice and had Air Conditioning. Now in room 521 and it is muggy and smells and the furniture is outdated and the Air conditioner does not work and the ceiling is making funny noises. So many fun amenities… from mini golf, to swimming, to volleyball, hiking. Wonderful location in the forest. Rooms have smaller fridges than most world marks, and they also don’t have the standard oven, so keep this in mind when at the grocery store. Additionally, the laundry is not located in the rooms, but in the buildings. Still wonderful amenities, just different than other world marks we have stayed at. Also please update the disgusting plastic spatulas. DO NOT BUY FREEZER FOOD!!! The mini golf course needs some improvements. Also the water pressure is very poor.By Stephanie Lynn (5 months ago)I booked a “hotel room” which did not look at all like the “hotel room” photo on their site. I try to book 3 star lodging but this room was maybe 2 star. The room hasn’t been updated in 20 years, especially the carpet seemed dirty and in very old condition and furniture cheap and broken cabinet. Bathroom small & old. On the other hand the grounds, lodge and activities are nice. I usually don’t bother to write a review but we were disappointed in the quality of the room, especially the worn carpet.By Estella Vanardenne (2 months ago)

A wonderful and private motel experience. The room was just what we needed, comfortable and clean. The motel has a small dog park, perfect for pets and smokers who want a secluded location without bothering other guests. The location is a 5 minute drive from most of the restaurants and breweries in town. A pool and hot tub make it a great choice for families as well.By Andrew Nichols (Seattleandrew) (5 months ago)Stayed for an extended stay. Beware this hotel will not respect your privacy if you stay longer than 3 days. During my stay my family has requested our room be left alone; it wasn’t. That had happened multiple times (when we left on a trip as well). They have questionable cleaning staff (one of them looks like a drug user and doesn’t appear very clean or hygienic). After they lost most of their staff [walkout, don’t know the details] a middle aged Mexican lady had accused my family of breaking things like the window screen (already broken upon check in so we moved it to prevent further damage). This same Mexican lady was rude more often than not. If they had a more professional staff it’d be worth the stay.
My family had stayed about 2 months. During the first month with the staff that quit there were no problems, the room was cleaned and no problems were reported to us. Then after staff change we spent one week in the room and suddenly the middle aged Mexican lady had made it sound like we destroyed the room. She’s better off in the back cleaning sheets and away from people. She’s not professional and she’s the main problem we had during our stay. Aside from lack of privacy and being accused of damages.
By Punky Smith (4 months ago)We made our reservation over a month before we were to arrive. Four hours prior to our arrival and 1/2 way to our destination, we received a call letting us know that they had sold our room to someone else. They could accommodate us in a non-ADA room. i explained that an ADA room was required as it was needed to toilet and shower a handicapped traveler. I reminded them we made the reservation over a month ago. They didn’t care. They had already sold it to someone who arrive prior to that day. They could of given us days notice. Instead, they sure know how to lose longtime customers.By Teresa Potter (2 weeks ago)We got in quite late and were told we could have a late checkout since we had work to do before we got on the road. We were told to call the front desk in the morning. We went by and the front desk fellow was not friendly and said “No, we aren’t doing late checkouts” He said we could have an extra 30 minutes. The room itself was “remodeled” but the quality of the work was clearly not by a professional and the floor tile chosen was slip-n-slide grade frictionless when wet. The TV remote didn’t work, the back was missing and one of two batteries as well. The lighting, both outside and in the room, was uniformly interrogation level bright blue-white. Overall it could have been worse but at the price I certainly expected better.By scott burdette (2 months ago)Great stay at this location. Rooms are okay, looks like they are working on revamping them though. Love the pool and hot tub! Was a great price and location was close to everything. Would definitely stay here again.By Catherine Tenison (2 months ago)

This is one of the more interesting McMenamins locations in Oregon. It echoes the common themes from all of their locations around the northwest, with weird quirky artwork, dark interior themes, and an atmosphere that is hard to place.
The school proper has guest rooms, bars, outdoor patios, ample choice of where you want to eat and drink.
Across the street there is an annex including a cigar bar, more outdoor patio space, and more guest rooms in a three-story building that is accessible to bar-goers during the evening hours. If you’re smart enough to figure it out, you can make it to the broom closet bar on the top floor of the building.
Other secrets can be discovered if you explore.
My wife and had limited time and limited funds for our anniversary. The Old St. Francis School was perfect. Lots to do on sight, a Movie Theater, Mineral Spa, Restaurant, multiple Bars including a Cigar Bar, Hiden Rooms that can be found in the multiple buildings and fire pits throughout the vast outdoor seating areas.
Our room was called the Rambler, the head board was a painting of an old Rambler grill, there was also matching artwork. I was probably more excited about the Rambler room than my wife.
That staff was wonderful, the service was a 10 out 10. The drinks were great. The food was typical McMenamins “passable”, breakfast was a surprise, Wow, I had the best biscuits gravy of my life.
Overall it was a great experience, my wife and I very grateful the McMenamins and their staff for providing such a wonderful experience for anniversary.
This was our first stay at a McMenamins property. It won’t be our last! We stayed almost a full week and our front desk person steered us to a cozy and spacious room. The location is great – a short walk to downtown, the Old Mill District, the Deschutes River, and a ton of breweries, but also sort of on the periphery of a residential area so a bit quieter. We didn’t get to the movie theater, but we did hit the restaurants and bars, mineral pool, and speakeasy. We had a terrific stay at the Old St Francis School and we will be back.
Had a great time in the family suite! If anyone plans on the couches as being a sleeping option they need to like a very firm mattress and make arrangements for additional bedding. I didn’t make those plans, my friend made them for me, I still love him. I need a chiropractor, it’s a comfortable couch for sitting on. The two bathrooms are in each bedroom. There’s a mini fridge with no freezer space, there’s a coffee make without coffee but there’s fresh coffee served in the halls every morning along with tea bag choices, hot water, half n half, sugar, sugar substitute. The room had plenty of plates, bowls, utensils. It truly is a wonderful place to gather!
My husband and I stayed for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary! The soaking pool was our favorite part of our stay! The temperature was perfect! Our room was cute and funky but the pillows were super flat and uncomfortable! It was fun being right in downtown so we were able to walk everywhere! We had great service at the restaurant and would recommend the hot apple cider with cinnamon whisky!
