Best zoo I’ve ever been to! The animal enclosures are large with shade and running water. You get to interact with the animals not just stare at them from a distance. Feeding the giraffes was amazing! My kids were excited to stand right next to penguins, wallaby and feed tropical birds. The best part is that the zoo has a timed entry which really helps control the crowd size, we went on Memorial weekend and had zero lines.By Terri A (5 months ago)Believe the hype! This is probably one of the best and well-thought-out zoos we have ever been to. Each exhibit is truly unique and you really don’t feel bad for any of the animals. They seemed to be well taken care of and overall content with the zoo life. Some of the animals like the baby kangaroos and peacocks were just out and about. Our kid had a blast with them. After coming here, we didn’t even bother with the Denver Zoo. The gift shop selections could’ve been a bit better, but I’m not going to take points off for that. Bring a solid pair of walking shoes, as this park is in the side of a mountain and you’ll have some decent elevation changes to take on. Just WOW to the people that trained the Grizzly bears. They are so trained and is so fun to watch. I felt like a kid watching that. Besides that organization in the zoo is perfect. The water fans are amazing for this summer season. The feeding experiences are with it. Highly recommendBy Cristhian C (3 months ago)Good Zoo. Lots of up hill walking so wear good shoes. It’s windy on the mountain so a jacket might be good to. There is coffee at the Cozy Goat. The “Loft” has reptiles, I thought it was a restaurant from the outside. There is a lot to see but can be done in a few hours. Look at the website for scheduled feedings and animal encounters before you go. Like wolf feeding at 11:00 penguin feeding at 3:15.
The morning is less crowded. There is is another attraction to see while you are at the Zoo! The Shrine of the Sun is located above the Zoo, your Zoo ticket includes admission to the Shrine of the Sun. Shrine closes at 4pm so you will want to make sure you leave time for this. Or go before you go into the Zoo. There is a drive up gate to the left of the main Zoo entrance and you drive to the little shack and show your Zoo ticket. Then you can drive up to the Shrine through the Zoo. This is the only way to get there. The Zoo doesn’t advertise this at all. Also your Zoo ticket is good for 2 weeks for the Shrine. If you have 4 people in the car you need to show 4 Zoo tickets, and i believe if you are a member of the zoo your annual pass works for the Shrine too.By Brandy Mitchell (6 months ago)This is one of the best zoos I’ve ever been to and I consider myself a zoo enthusiast as I usually take a day to visit the zoo anywhere I go. This zoo is a special place nestled into the mountains it’s one of the highest zoos in the world and you can hand feed one of the largest beards of giraffe in North America. You can even take a ski lift up the mountain to whiteness an amazing view and glide over the top of some exhibits for a unique view into the enclosures. I really enjoyed the cave tour. Anna was an enthusiastic and fun tour guide, and the cave itself was interesting. It was a steady paced 1 hour, and although there were many sets of stairs, it was not a difficult walk.
The view from the terrace at the entrance was glorious, and it’s worth the drive just for the view.
I also did the “zip line” which is more of a zippy ski lift. The 2 minute ride was not quite worth the $15 price tag, but Paul, the operator was such a kind and interesting young gentleman.

We did the discovery tour and it was very easy to operate for anyone who may have anxiety/ claustrophobia. Our tour guide was Gale, who was absolutely amazing!!! She is extremely knowledgeable, hilarious, and brought my friends and i much joy. If you are looking for a cave to explore this is the tour! The tour lasted about 45 minutes. $26. Our tour guide was Maddie, and she was amazing! She is full of jokes. There are a lot of stairs and a few tight spaces but it was a great experience. There are a number of observation spots for you to take in the view. The souvenir shop was fantastic with such a favorite of gems, cups, clothing, carvings, etc. The tour guide was very well educated and the customer service was a compliment to the field of hospitality. A truly unique experience. Visitors have the freedom to touch and crawl through nearly all areas of the dwellings. Interesting descriptions are posted throughout. The gift shop is large and full of interesting finds. This would probably be about a two maybe three hour adventure if sometime is bent in the gift shop. The on-site museum is small but interesting and adds to the educational component. Cliff Dwellings, museum and gift shop have all together the perfect size for a lovely day trip! The Cliff Dwellings are great and we loved to explore all rooms and read the info. There isn’t too much text and it was informative. The museum is beautiful and has many different pieces of art and offers an unexpected and loving composition. The timeline about the Cliff Dwellings inside the museum is so cool! The gift shop is outstanding and has so many things to explore too. The literature collection is great! The cliff dwellings were surely something for us to experience. The temperature near the dwellings was so nice and cool. It was very hot on the day we visited. I was fascinated by the way the dwellings sit nestled on the mountain side. I was fascinated by the plants and appreciated the signs. It’s 100 percent worth going to! It’s not huge, exploring the dwellings and museum took about an hour. To see this place in person was astounding. To see how these native Indians carved out there homes out of a mountain side was mind blowing. You get to walk through the homes also. Which was awesome.

Loved this hike! Red rocks were gorgeous and the lakes we passed were stunning! There are multiple paths you can take. Some are easier some are more advanced. I’m 24 weeks pregnant and didn’t have any troubles on the paths I took (mostly intermediate). I saw a couple of people with young baby’s even a stroller. The only thing wrong about this trail is it is not well maintained, dog poop bags everywhere on the trail. The map were teared off along the trail. This is always one of the best places to hike, view in awe, and just soak in. Landscapes are a dime a dozen here, but the feeling you get is priceless. From the entrance sign to the pullover spots, it’s really a scenic experience all over.
Bring your pets but adhere to the paths. Plenty of trails to spend your day stretching out those legs, and many informative plaques to keep you up to date with what you’re viewing.
Overall this park is small but packs a punch. Get there early and enjoy the sounds.
I came here to do a bit of hiking with my wife. The trails were extremely well maintained in the central loop area and the formations and views were beautiful. The upper ridge trail was a bit more technical but absolutely worth the effort. Would absolutely recommend as it was all free and a wonderful time.
Colorful and stunning views! Nice area to hike for the day and take awesome pictures. The hiking trails were pretty easy and not busy, weather was perfect. You can totally do the park in one day, I highly recommend stopping by if you are visiting Colorado springs it is worth it.
Absolutely amazing place to venture. We spent hours enjoying the sights and could have easily spent longer. There are many trails. Animals to watch for. The restrooms are very well maintained, as is the whole park. Dog, kid friendly. There are areas that are not mobility friendly for wheelchair access and strollers, but there are plenty of other areas to explore that are.
Such an amazing experience! There are short walks and longer walks. A nice public restroom next to parking lot 2. The visitor center is awesome! They have a nice little gift shop and you can pick up a map there. It also has some amazing views too! It also has a little cafe if you want to grab coffee or snacks before going hiking.
