The Abbey changed my life. The staff members are all amazing, wonderful people who truly care about you as a person, your family and your recovery. The programming is informative and taught by highly qualified addiction and mental health professionals. The building and grounds are gorgeous and have such a healing energy all on their own. And don’t even get me started on the food!!! 🙂 The meals are DELICIOUS, healthy and abundant. I would recommend this place without hesitation to anyone who needs them.

The Abbey center is the best inpatient treatment center in Iowa all the staff is amazing I had no problem with any of them and yes you can smoke while your there it’s a beautiful place. The Abbey saved my life if I hadn’t went there I would not be here today, I thank god every day for sending me to the abbey. The director Karen is the most kind, patience and sweetest person you will ever meet. Was the absolute worst Care Facility that I have ever seen. I was there before Xmas of 2020, contacted COVID-19, had two different patients crawl into my my private room, one looking for a bathroom, the other, his car keys, both times it took close to 15 minutes for any help was received. The food was horrid, cold and soggy being the only thing consistent. Totally inept and understaffed.

Treats everyone who walks through the door like family. Food is amazing, fun activities are held daily and the new therapy room is built perfectly with brand new equipment. Therapy staff makes getting stronger fun and is willing to work with anyone in the community. I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for long term care or rehab.

I have been working in the Nursing Home field for over 20 years, and Fort Dodge Health and Rehab is by far the best I have ever worked in. This place was out dated and dark and dirty. The room window shade would covered up the air conditioner if you pulled it down. I moved the recliner in the room and found what looked like old bacon strips balled up!!! The bed mattress was hard as a rock and lumpy and the controls for raising or lowering the bed would still have the bed moving after you released the button. The call for help button was not working so my mom was without help all night long!!! Unacceptable!!! The Administrator said it was the maker of the call button fault! Take responsibility for your staff and out dated equipment. Never use this place!

While at St. Gregory’s in 2018, I first heard of SMART Recovery and have loved utilizing this type of recovery support.
This is an amazing and supportive place to be. The staff was super friendly and respectful. The food was great! I loved going to the gym as well. The program was a perfect mix of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, the 7 Virtues and faith-based support.
I have continued to say that my experience at St. Gregory’s was one of my top 5 life experiences.
Still going strong and approaching 4 years of sobriety!

This was a great option for me to go to for when I struggled with alcohol. I found it through my family and was able to get in quickly. The staff was kinda and polite and understanding. The atmosphere is relaxed and movement around the facility is freeing. There are classes everyday, a personal counselor assigned to you, and a therapist assigned to you as well. Food is available most of the day and a stocked kitchen

They saved my life!! I was at my lowest when I called and Jimmy answered…. he got my butt there and the rest is history!! Almost 8 and a half months sober Thanks to St. G’s and I also did IOP and attend alumni meetings regularly. I live by the virtues they taught us and yes…. the food is AMAZING! Love the salad bar!! St. Gregory’s was the perfect fit for myself in my journey. From Day 1 all the staff and clients were so kind and welcoming. The counselors along with Dr. Angel helped me realize what was causing me to turn to alcohol to numb my pain.
St. Gregory’s makes you dig deep to deal with the issues beneath. It does not focus on alcohol as “evil” but rather helps you to cope with life from all aspects.
I was very skeptical to go to inpatient. But very glad I did. I found myself that had been lost for a long time and can finally genuinely smile again.
I would highly recommend St. Gregory’s to anyone who is struggling with any form of substance abuse. It was definitely a life changing decision for me.

I had a wonderful experience at St. Gregory in Bayard. I ended up going back a few times but , that is all on me and my will to stop drinking. I however learned a little more each time. The staff is amazing and the friends I made there are now my family. Such a great team. I also love the opportunity to do online zoom meetings 2x a week. I recommend St. Gregory’s to anyone struggling with addiction. I am now in recovery 5 months 17 days!

I saw a therapist here for a month for anxiety and stopped going after he pretty much implied he couldn’t help me.

Their billing department are scumbags who will try to get you to pay double for services that are already paid for. They don’t answer their phone ever. They don’t return messages ever. They throw away any documentation sent to them in the mail and just continue sending out bills every month. They’re hoping enough people aren’t paying attention and pay twice (or more) for their services. It’s very dishonest and unprofessional.

I think it’s a good idea to be seen in person not through a video call. Providers only provided me with something not friendly enough to make it something. It should change if it hasn’t. The in person experience is one worth walking away from not first waving you goodbye for another. It was bogus.

Prairie Ridge is an incredible place. The staff is wonderful, including the counselors. They really care about the patients. They have a great holistic approach to treatment – much broader than just a 12 step focus, but including that as an option. There’s a pharmacy on site to get you meds if you need them. The food is pretty great (and there’s a lot of it). There’s a ton to do on the unit, plus trips to the YMCA, church, celebrate recovery, etc. There’s an outdoor track so you can get fresh air. And a gym. This is the place to go to get healthy, both physically and mentally.
