The most incredible treatment facility ever! They offer a holistic approach centered in therapy, science, and female empowerment. Eric, Sarah, Jonas, Katie, and all of the other staff offer a level of compassion that I’ve never seen before in any treatment facility. And that says a lot coming from a child of two addicts who have been in and out of facilities my entire life. They are always available and respond quickly to any questions or discussions you may bring up. The family groups were amazing and I miss them every week. They truly care and believe that recovery is possible for all. They showed my mother how to practice self-care, love, nutrition, and so much more. I am eternally thankful for the Hammocks on The Edisto. My only complaint is that she couldn’t stay longer (6 months+). I have so much love for this place and I am so glad that we found the Hammocks for my mom. They are truly one of a kind and offer a level of care that I don’t think exists anywhere else.

I stayed at the Hammocks in the spring of 2022. I can’t say enough wonderful things about my time there. I came into the Hammocks in a very low place but left feeling empowered, motivated and ready to start my life in sobriety. The staff and administration are fantastic, and the house and grounds are gorgeous. I felt more like a welcomed guest rather than a patient. (Also Michelle and Margaret’s food is fantastic). The therapists were attentive, experienced, caring, and wonderful at leading both group and individual sessions. They challenged me to be open, mindful, and vulnerable in facing the difficult topics that I needed to explore. I also had the opportunity to do multiple family sessions with my spouse and parents that were extremely helpful. Feedback from the administration was welcomed and acted upon. It was truly a bittersweet day for me when I left. I will always consider it a home, and I am forever grateful for the life changing experience I had there.

My wife spent a month at the Hammocks and I have nothing but incredible things to say about the facility. The help and therapy she received has truly been life changing for our family. From the day I called to discuss admission, Jonas, the director, made himself immediately available to any questions or concerns I had. Throughout her stay, I participated in multiple family sessions a week with Sarah or Eric who were both excellent. They were kind and accepting, but also thought-provoking and challenging. Not to mention, the whole facility is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend the Hammocks to any family in need of a recovery center.

Struggling with drug and alcohol addiction 17 years I had lost all hope of ever pulling out of it. I’m incredibly blessed that I finally landed at the doors of the Charleston Recovery Center. My own life changing transformation and those I see over and over again in residents here are nothing short of miraculous. I was treated like family here as opposed to just another patient or dollar sign. The staff refused to give up on me even when I had given up on myself. They made it very clear what the problem was and guided me step by step to a solution that works. This wonderful community reached me when no one else could and without a doubt saved my life. I have struggled with drug addiction and alcoholism for almost 25 years. It wasn’t until my addiction beat me into submission and I found my way to Ashley Hope when things changed for me. Desperate for help, I was willing to do anything I was told to do for a chance to live.

I was told that I would have a chance to recover if I had maintained a positive attitude, did everything I was told to do and put an emphasis on helping the others. It wasn’t an easy thing to do but I did it and, by the grace of God, I’m still sober today.

Having eight plus years in law enforcement/addiction treatment, the Charleston Recovery Center is a organization that deserves well deserved appreciation. Having a family member who has struggled with addiction for most of his adolescence and early adulthood, it was only when he entered Charleston’s program where he has made a drastic change for the better. Not only do they clearly show the care for their participants and their families, but have consistently met and exceeded my expectations in their relentless dedication to the overall level of improvement in the quality of life for the participants in their program. All recovery programs should take a page or two from the Charleston Recovery Center, because they are without a doubt in it for all of the right reasons.

So me being an atheist and knowing AA is a nonreligious sect that was my first expectation. Well during my short stay there jesus was brought up in every meeting first strike. Second strike pay more get better living conditions and more “attention” kind of bs for “recovery”. I digress to strike three, the food do not be fooled it is cooked by the people partaking in the program, there is no dietician hence leading to a definite defict in a great amount of necessary vitamins. Also they had a budget for the 60 some odd people there of 2200 a week, 3 meals a day… I will let you do the math. Also one of the “staff”, just some guy that got “saved by jesus” and went through their very skewed version of AA/program, told me that because I was having an adverse side effect to my antidepressants was because “I haven’t accepted God (ie their perception Jesus) and gone through the steps.” I didnt see any exercise classes either lol so before you send your whoever here please read this. Also I just left today, so this is not a recollection, this is a very very fresh memory. The hospital helped me infinitely more in the 4 days there than the 3-4 days I spent in their program. I wasn’t going to write a review, but the nurses urged me to lol.

This place by far is one of the best places that anybody could ever go if they are serious about getting sober and clean they run a tight 12-step program there. I’d like to thank Eric who taught class and was a good person to talk to I was getting itchy and ready to leave, Eric made much sense and was the most realest person I’ve ever met in recovery. Brian ready, took time for me on a daily basis to help me through all of the things I was going through. This place really cares about their people and making sure that you get the most out of your recovery. They offer so much there. You can even get a job which is an almost guarantee when you’re residing at the oaks. I owe a lot to Brian and Eric, and also all of the administrative staff there. I would refer any and everybody I could to go here to seek help. Thanks a lot guys for opening up my eyes and letting me find who me is.

I can’t say too much bad about the place as I did have a scholarship there. It was here that I had the complete psychic change that the big AA book mentions. I love the twelve steps but feel that it didn’t take 12 steps for me to attain sobriety. Back to the facts about the facility… Great food and a lot of helpful friendly staff like George and Rob.

My son has been through several programs and nothing compares to Okas Recovery. I will never forget the day he entered the program. Everyone was so welcoming they met him at the car and helped him carry his things in and introduced themselves. Today we attend his commencement ceremony. I have been several treatment centers over the past 10 years trying to find a new way of life. I have been to facilities in West Palm Beach which were 40,000-50,000 dollars a month to state run centers that were free of charge. I was completely hopeless and broken before the Owls Nest. This is by far the best place I have been to, that has set me up for success in recovery. The back to basics 12 step program, how it is taught, and the staff’s love and compassion shown through each phase of my recovery was exactly what I needed. I have hope today and a better way of living I never thought possible. I will be forever grateful for The Owls Nest.

The Owl’s Nest truly saved my life. The way they approach recovery and the 12 steps of AA was exactly what was needed to lay the foundation for a new way of living. The staff is amazing and are all part of recovery. Having Dr. Cowan available as well helped me work through some more clinical issues as well. The food is amazing and the guys are all amazing as well. The overall atmosphere of brotherhood is second to none.

I have personally been affected by addiction since my teens. The number of people I’ve lost and/ or have been affected in my life by this disease is incalculable. I’ve been through a number of treatment centers and worked in them for years so I have experience on both sides. Britelife was the best experience I’ve EVER had, from Day 1 to aftercare they have been by my side. The moment I walked in I felt I was exactly where I should be. The amenities are 5 star. Clean, beautiful, comfortable, and the food was above and beyond. Every SINGLE person whom works there CARES. It’s not a job to them but a way of life. I was seen my doctors, nurse practitioners, for goodness sake they had acupuncture. The therapists and counselors had the education and experience, BUT most of all they understand what your going through and never once looked down upon me. Bailey was my therapist and she gave me the tools and showed me how to save my own life. Andrea, DD, Scott, the list goes on and on with the people who helped me live again. BriteLife has absolutely changed my life! It not only put me on a clear road of recovery but has helped me smoothly transition back into real life. Better marriage, better relationships with my family and amazing friendships that will be lifelong! The staff and counselors are top notch and the facility is great! It was like an educational vacation with group and individual therapy, meetings and fun. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the food was fantastic. I was very hesitant to leave my family for several weeks but it was THE best decision I could’ve ever made. If you are considering treatment this is the place! (Not to mention field trips to the beautiful beaches of Hilton Head which is my happy place.) I wouldn’t change a thing.

It truly was a blessing that BriteLife Recovery came into my life. The staff their all have a common goal and that is your sobriety. The food their is excellent, you have access to coffee, tea, milk, juices all day. You are provided three meals a day, and a salad bar, and snacks as well. And since I am a diabetic the chef there made sure the food prepared for me fit my special diet.

They work hard to make sure that you get the necessary tools to stay sober once you leave the treatment center, they also work hard to ensure you get information for the after care you will need to be successful at maintaining your sobriety.

I really enjoyed the place. It was my first time. I was a mess and desperate. I stayed in detox in Hilton head and rehab in Bluffton SC. Their website does need to be updated, however my experience was non the less amazing. The staff is really good. I also enjoyed recreational activities. Group meetings, therapy, nurses and case management are very supportive and good at their job. If you have realistic expectations, open mindless and willingness no get better – this is the place.
