  1. For the price I thought the accommodations would have been a lot nicer. The pool was very dirty. I paid almost 1400 dollars for them to do my daughter’s wedding on the beach. All we got was 20 chairs, an arch for the couple to stand under and the officiator. The arch was not decorated with anything. We were told after we got there that we had to furnish the decorations. Very disappointed. We also had a hard time finding a restaurant that would accommodate our group of 14. We were turned away by all the ones close to the hotel even the Blu at the hotel. Thumbs up to The Crab Shack. Thank you guys for welcoming our entire family. The food was great and the service was awesome. This was the only restaurant in the area that would accommodate us.

  2. Room was dirty with hair and sand all over. We were told it would be cleaned, it wasn’t. Bathroom fan doesn’t work, door only opens after several attempts. We were told they would be fixed, they weren’t. It costs extra to use the chairs in the beach. Never heard of that before from the hotel we were staying at. The furniture is old and broken. The patio looks like it’s about to fall apart. Very expensive for being so rundown, but… the people were friendly.

  3. Tides Folly Beach hospitality was amazing. I really liked how they reached out via text the day before to see if we needed anything ahead of time (I was able to ask if they could hold our bags prior to check in so we could enjoy the beach. ) when we got there well before check in, they had a room available and we were able to get checked in early!

The location of the hotel is GREAT. Right at the end of the main strip and directly on the beach. At the beach there was a stand to rent lounge chairs, umbrellas & boogie boards. The amenities and hospitality will bring us back for another visit. Highly recommend staying here!

  4. We had an amazing time! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Getting the text messages to check on our stay was wonderful. The room was clean and comfortable. The only thing we would have liked was a microwave in the room. The pool was relaxing. The beachfront was beautiful. We seen several dolphins during our stay. Would recommend Tides to our friends.

  5. This hotel has a perfect location, right on the beach st the end of a charming street with fun bars, shops and restaurants. The people at Tides went way beyond the norm to make sure we were comfortable and happy. As many water bottles as we wanted, extra blankets, got the floor we asked for, even helped me bring up the luggage cart and ran off before I could tip. The room was clean and comfy, with some updates and cute decor. Loved the view from the little balcony, even from 2nd floor. The upper floors would really be spectacular for ocean view. It is not fancy but has all the comforts we needed, and a nice, relaxed vibe.

The lobby and restaurant areas are decorated beautifully and nicely maintained. The restaurant in Tides, Blu, made us a fabulous dinner great grilled steak and best shrimp ever!, and we sat on their patio right on the beach. Get the peach fizzy drink, it is expertly made, not too sweet and delicious. And what a great beach to enjoy during the day, with lounge chairs and perfect views. Also dog-friendly! We will be back!

It’s a lovely property, I was here with friends and family and there was a great outside gathering place with plenty of tables and chairs. Rooms were nice, a bit small, we had two queen beds which were comfortable. Nice pool area, access to downtown by water taxi and or shuttle. Fish House restaurant was great, food was good and servers were fun and efficient! There’s other bars on the property but we did not go to any of them. I Would highly recommend this place.

Quiet resort, nice to be across from downtown, while easily accessible. Nice to use both this and the Beach Club amenities. Food was good at restaurants (Fish House the best of all of them). Pools were clean, water was refreshing, but not freezing. The shuttle was always on time and the water taxi, while a few minutes behind, was the perfect way to get back and forth from town. Room was upgraded from what I booked, a pleasant surprise. Beautiful view and balcony. Would definitely stay again.

We had a fabulous night’s stay, before cruising out of Charleston the next day. Our room faced the city with an excellent view of our cruise ship the next morning. The grounds were beautiful and had a very tropical feel. The hotel and bar staff were extremely pleasant, great southern hospitality. The private beach area was relaxing under the night sky. The room was clean and thoughtfully decorated. The patio was spacious and had a table and two chairs and two lounge chairs. This resort is on our list to come back and stay for a long weekend. Also, try the water taxi, it’s 10 dollars per person and puts you off downtown.

Single bed rooms are a little small, but very well furnished and I would definitely consider this to be a pretty luxurious place. The staff are friendly and helpful and proximity to other amenities is a close walking distance from the hotel. The beds are huge! It would be nice if they offered some type of Honeymooners package. We were there for our honeymoon and wished that existed, but didn’t deter us from staying.

    Overall, very nice place.

Our second time here and this time we came to stay a bit longer to enjoy Charleston’ history and beauty.
Rooms are spacious and nicely decorated, but the floors were not as clean as they should be.
Other than that we had a very pleasant time at this resort. You can walk or bike the grounds and enjoy the marina and the shores. Secluded and secure with gated access only. Hotel offers a shuttle to historic Charleston every hour, starting in the early afternoon, and well into the night. Driver is very pleasant to talk to. Very informative. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

Stayed this weekend for a short trip for a baby shower. Our room was supposed to have two queen sized beds, they were full at best. I can’t say I cuddled my mother since I was a child, but we were able to get close this weekend because the beds were so small! The balcony was permanently closed due to safety reasons, but there were unused metal fixtures in the bathroom that could easily hurt someone. Especially since the tub was so slippery and didn’t drain well. The bathroom didn’t have a fan, but it did have plenty of black mold! The room felt more humid than Charleston itself, which is saying something. The hotel has two elevators, but one was broken. It took forever just to get to and from your floor. The staff was very nice, but that was literally the only thing nice about this place. Cannot say it was worth the $300/night that my family was charged. Do yourself a favor, and don’t stay here.

We stayed on a trip back up from Florida celebrating our anniversary. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating, giving us a room where we could watch the sunrise over Charleston! It was a beautiful room. We had read some horror stories from recent reviews but didn’t personally experience anything like that. Our room was wonderful and clean. It can be a bit noisy being between the two roads. Also, the room next to ours was using their shower at like 10 pm which was pretty loud. Other than those minor inconveniences, the room definitely exceeded expectations! We had breakfast in the top floor restaurant, with another beautiful view and a surprisingly well done buffet. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here.

    Renovated rooms and free parking
We like the hard flooring in the (small) room but had problem with the toilet, which did not flush well. The front desk was helpful. Their not-free breakfast buffet was not as good as free breakfast from other 3-star hotels. Free parking is nice; the exit from the parking lot connects to a highway (in only one direction) so it is hard (and dangerous) to exit.

Overall a solid 4.0 rating. We will book it again when the price is good (we booked this time for a high price because the prices of the hotels in downtown were even higher).

The staff here has hearts of gold. I rushed up to be with my mom in the hospital and my dad needed a hotel room to rest. The front desk staff was SO sweet. Then when the shuttle came for him (which was invaluable) the driver was so gentle and kind during what was a hard day for our family. These simple acts of kindness were so deeply touching for us. They all deserve a raise for being so dedicated to good customer service.

My husband is a patient at MUSC Hospital and we have been staying at this hotel around 15 yrs. We have always been treated great by the employees, had clean rooms, shuttle bus to hospital & Dr offices at no extra cost. There might be a charge for breakfast but they have a great selection on the “all you can eat buffet bar or you can place a special order. The lady who is in charge of the restaurant is very friendly and is always helpful to anyone needs. I also do bus tours and have booked groups of 35+ at the hotel when touring Charleston. No Complains from them either. Concerning sites of Charleston, no better overall view of the downtown area, the Ashley & Cooper River and the Ocean. Great place to stay in beautiful Charleston.
