  1. Empire is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants in Portland. This is one of the few places I’ve ever been where every single item on the menu is fantastic! Unique items and delicious Chinese fusion dishes. Expect a long wait with no option to make a reservation, so unless you’re going on a weekday in the winter you’ll have to tough it out but it is well worth it.

  2. I was here 3 years ago, the indoor seating was great but now only take out 😕 but the food is still great! We ordered a lot of stuff and we really enjoyed the food! I just wish they open the indoor seating again!

  3. In honor of “Christmas Story”, we decided to pick up some takeout. It was recommended by a colleague who lives in the neighborhood.

We got hot and sour soup and a bunch of appetizers. All were exceptionally good. Very reasonably priced for the value received. We have a new go-to for Chinese takeout!!!

  4. We ordered online and ordered mostly gluten free meals. I read some reviews that others with celiac disease had eaten here and it was safe. (My daughter has Celiac and has for over 6yrs) I got multiple meals for my daughter and she is not and hasn’t ever been sensitive to cross contamination she only reacts to gluten (by throwing up). I was confident she would be fine, but I was wrong. Although she thought the food was delicious she got glutened and spent the rest of the evening throwing up. I have no idea which meal did this. On the website you can select celiac when you order which gave me false confidence that they knew how to safely prepare gf meals. After speaking with the restaurant via Facebook they let me know they don’t do anything special they just make those certain meals gf. They also have lots of non gf meals as well (my husband ate the duck lomein and loved it). Something went wrong somewhere and some form of gluten was added to something she ate. So if you have to eat gf for health reasons I don’t recommend this restaurant BUT if you’re ok to eat whatever then they have some delicious options. Quite pricey too… for example almost 9$ for TWO chicken skewers.
Although they offered no sort of resolution (coupon, money back type of thing) and just kept asking what they can do, they were polite and said if she needed to go to the hospital they would provide their insurance.

  5. Everything I have had from Empire has been delicious. The Bacon Fred Rice, Curry Beef Buns, Soup Dumplings, Noodles with Broccoli, are all excellent.

On past occasions I have had the Chicken Skewers, all the other dumplings, and have never been disappointed.

I would love to see them offer dine in at some point in the future.

This bistro was recommended to us for dinner as it was close by where we were staying. So glad we tried it! The interior is very relaxing and well done, the food was delicious, and our waitress did a great job. Everyone seem to be enjoying their meal and I didn’t see anyone send anything back the entire time we were there! The only downside was we were sitting back by the kitchen/waitress area and there seem to be a disagreement between a few waitresses that got a little loud at one point. Will definitely go back again!

Really enjoyed our visit. We did dining room, and got a bunch of appetizers and some sushi rolls. Really enjoyed the beef negemaki. Oh and I really liked the bit of seaweed salad they added to my ginger salad! Yummy! Ambiance was nice, just maybe a very tad bit dark. Overall good visit though!

We had a lovely time at Kan (as usual). Great atmosphere, our server was attentive, the food was fresh with minimal wait time.

Bonus points for having tamari available for those who are gluten free.

Excellent Service. The Tiki drinks are okay, I think the bartender needs some training on how to properly prep them though. The Hibachi food is above average. The Mini Bei Jing Duck is the star of the menu, it’s a shame they don’t have a dinner portion.

Super delicious and the presentation of the plates was great. The cocktails were good too. I didn’t do hibachi but the sushi was fantastic. The decor is a lot but it’s nice. Feels a little Las Vegas, which can be good if that’s your thing. The night we went, the crowd definitely leaned on the younger, college side.

Fantastic spot for lunch or dinner. Great food really tasty. I would definitely recommend getting the wings and any of the noodle dishes. Salads are also really good. Very affordable and fairly priced. Service was excellent and our waiter was very helpful

My fiancé and I went on a three day trip to Portland Maine. We were recommended to try honey paw so we went on our first day. It blew us away so we returned the other two days ! It was absolutely the best place we tried the whole trip. Every dish we ordered was amazing from the fried bread to the honeycomb Sunday. This place is not to be missed, highly recommend.

Apps, service and atmosphere were great. Try every app on the menu cause I think it’s better than the entrees. Wasn’t feeling the veggie ramen. Something about that broth was very off (not appetizing at all) but everything else was great. The lobster app was so delicious. What a snack!

The Asian fusion flavors here are fantastic. The menu has a vast selection of noodle and rice dishes that are all very presentable and tastes delicious. I can’t wait to come back and try the other items on the menu.

Good Thai inspired meal. A good solid mean but I was expecting more from the reviews. Fried chicken wings had what I can only describe as an essence of fresh doughnut with a bit of sweetness. Lobster Tom Yum good but lobster was overcooked and a bit tough. A bit on the spicy side – you may want to ask they hold the peppers if you’re not a fan of spice – especially on the crab/tomato/corn salad and napa salads. Enjoyed the meal, but was expecting more flavor. Shishito pepper special was my favorite.
