  1. We stayed one night only for a local staycation. The hotel was under construction which would have been nice to know if posted on their website. The rooms have been renovated but the quality of fine finishes (caulking, grout, fire sprinkler head covers falling off, etc) are very amateur and at $500-600+ per night is no where near standard. The restaurant downstairs breakfast was very good and recommend. Recommend walking around the lobby and outside as the building is an incredible piece.

  2. Great property and location. A few comments. We did not have a blow dryer, iron, or ironing board in our room. We called to get a blow dryer sent up but never got one. We had to call again the following day. The toilet/plumbing was not great…out of nowhere, the toilet started bubbling. Biggest complaint is the room temperature. We set the room to 60 the entire time we stayed there. It never dropped below 71. No fan. No window access. Really uncomfortable. I also think the room was overpriced especially with the amount of construction happening. Another huge issue was the bar. Some of the worst service I’ve ever seen. The staff was standing around, no urgency, not great cocktails, and a lot of confusion. Maybe a new staff? They need training. One patron joked that he ordered his drink yesterday…we were the only 2 people there. With 3 team members behind them bar. The lobby bathroom is gross. I understand it is being renovated but there are nats, flies, and other bugs everywhere. Great outdoor area with the fountain and friendly front desk staff.

  3. Stayed here a few weeks ago with friends for a wedding. The rooms are kinda small but they are clean. The valet parking was nice but hard to find. Hotel lobby was still under minor construction.
Outstanding customer service from reception and bellman. I forgot my belt at home and had to hurry to a rehearsal dinner. Hunter at the desk let me borrow his own personal belt – he saved the day!
The best part was the cookies in the cafe and pumpkin latte. Nick and Sophie in the cafe were awesome and engaging.

  4. My boyfriend and I just stayed at the Mills House this holiday season and it was absolutely wonderful! The entire staff was so welcoming and kind, and the entire hotel was in immaculately pristine condition. Everyone truly went out of their way to ensure every question and concern was taken care of! A special thank you to Hunter for repeatedly going above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. The Iron Rose restaurant was delicious and the staff was extremely attentive! The service was excellent! Thank you to our server, Steve, for making our outdoor dining experience so enjoyable! It was the best Christmastime getaway I could have asked for!!

  5. The rooms were very small. They were probably around 10 x18. When you add a king size bed, chair, table refrigerator there was very little room to move around. The end tables on either side of the bed serve as your dresser for your clothes.

For the first 3 days, of our 4 day vacation, we could not get a stable Internet connection in our room.

There were only 2 guest elevators and one of them was out of order and according to the staff it had been down for more than a week. If more than 3 floors are selected, the elevator ‘resets’ and unselects all floors and returns you to the 1st floor. On the last day, ALL guest elevators were out of order and the entire hotel, staff and guests, had to use the staff elevator.

The last night we could not find the valet to park our car. The front desk person found them all in the coffee shop hanging out.

The only good thing was Iron Horse restaurant. It was very good and I would return. I would highly recommend their French Omelette.

Remember to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any room. This site will compare thousands of booking websites and usually will have rooms much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This resort is one of my favorites in the area. I have been coming here for years. If you stay for a few days you won’t be let down.

There are just no words to describe how very nice The Charleston Place is. From check in to check out, everyone was so cheerful, pleasant and accommodating. We stayed at club level which was well worth it. The food was so delicious that we cancelled reservations one night. What an awesome week!

What a gorgeous hotel! We were greeted in the front entrance, which is delightfully private, by a friendly staff member who took care of our luggage and valeted our car. The lobby was opulent, with a sweeping double staircase and the largest chandelier I’ve ever seen. Rafael checked us in and was wonderful to work with! I could really tell he enjoyed his work and cared about our comfort and happiness. We were escorted to our room and Ben (if I recall his name correctly) kindly showed us all the features of our room.
Our room was equipped with a beautiful balcony with a view of the city and the water. Nice toiletries, gorgeous marble bathroom, bathrobes and slippers, large TV, ample closet space, pretty typical luxury hotel amenities.
During our stay, we enjoyed the pool which was quiet and not crowded, the Palmetto Cafe which had a wonderful staff, the Clocktower Terrace which was great for tanning and drinks, and room service.
The hotel is located in a central location and the best of Charleston is within walking distance.
I have stayed at many luxury hotels and this one easily competes with the best of them!

We just got home from a last minute weekend trip to Charleston and let me tell you, we have never had a hotel experience like this one! The service and generosity of the staff is palpable the second you pull your car up to the doors. Not to mention, they happen to be the most dog friendly hotel we have ever stayed at. Our pups loved all the love & fresh dog treats from the bakery at The Charleston Place. If you are considering staying here, just do it! Totally worth the money. Another perk was the Club Level, the food is absolutely delicious (we truly didn’t even eat out much while in Charleston because it was so good) and the drinks are great as well. Luka and Theresa were some of the friendliest and down to earth bartenders. They truly made our weekend what it was! Again, can’t recommend this hotel enough. I hardly ever write reviews but this hotel exceeded our expectations. We cannot wait to be back!

We only went to view the Christmas decorations. They were beautiful. The train, the trees, the toy soldiers and much more were all beautiful and i have never seen so many live trees in one place. I hope to have an opportunity to actually stay here one day. I’m a local and this was my first visit to Charleston Place. I loved it. The atmosphere was fantastic and the shops were great too. All of the staff were extremely friendly and willing to answer questions and help with anything.

This hotel is heavenly! In the beautiful lobby is a full size grand piano which is played by talented local musicians. The concierge is very helpful if you need information on what’s going on in the area. The room service was perfect. Every need is met. The catering provided to our company was beautiful, nutritious and delicious. The servers were happy to be there, which makes all the difference. The meeting rooms and giant ballroom were the perfect space for our vendors to set up and display their businesses.

Walk out of any door and experience beauty and history!

I long to return with my family!

What a find! We were on our way to Florida and we wanted to make a stop in Charleston to enjoy the town for a night, so we booked last minute and we didn’t know what to expect. Everything was excellent. On arrival we were met by Craig, best host ever. He was so kind and completely focused on providing the best experience. The room was really nice, the hotel with all the art in the walls, the convenience of the valet parking, complimentary breakfast served in the room in the morning. The devil is in the details, and every single detail was great. We have to come back for a longer stay and enjoy Charleston and we definitely will come back to this hotel.

My partner and I were exploring hotels to stay in with our dog and we ended up chatting with Brian Crosby who works there. We chose this hotel because Brian was so friendly and kind. He has a bright presence and welcoming personality and that means a lot to us. Another pleasant gentlemen, whose name I didn’t catch, helped us bring in our bags. Once we were inside, Greg, an engaging and humorous team member treated us superbly as well. Everyone we came in contact with made our trip even more enjoyable. We enjoyed champagne, artwork, milk and cookies, a beautiful room with both a rainfall shower and a bath, and a fabulous dinner at the hotel restaurant Revival (and they were accommodating to my food allergies). Yet again, our servers were exceptional. Not only is Charleston itself a memorable area, but from our experience, the people at The Vendue, make it extraordinary. It is a place we would love to return to. And our dog really liked did too!

First class service. From the front desk, to the art tour and valet – just the best humans and service. Super loved all the art. The rooms were comfortable and beautiful. The wine and art tour was on point! We had wonderful cocktails and apps on the rooftop bar. Everything about this experience was perfect. I can’t wait to go back.

As a native of Charleston, we rarely spend time in hotels downtown. For our anniversary this year, we decided on a short staycation. I’ve never stayed in The Vendue but would frequently go to the rooftop restaurant/bar (which is already awesome). The experience was fantastic. Check-in was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. You don’t go to a “counter”, you relax in the Red-lit entry way and play chess until the host comes with a laptop and checks you in. So casual and professional at the same time! Bryant was superb. He went above and beyond to ensure our stay was great. Down to getting us a bottle of champagne 🍾! 5 stars is not enough! We will definitely be returning

This was my first trip to Charleston and the trip started off great due to my stay at The Vendue. The staff was attentive, friendly and inviting. The lobby was decorated nicely for Christmas and the artwork around the whole hotel was stunning and lovely to look at (they are curators or collectors – either way I loved it). My room was upgraded and honestly, it’s one of the best rooms I stayed in a long time. It’s a pet friendly hotel for my two pups, they have valet which makes a long drive that much better and room service – literally all my favorite things to make the stay comfortable. Also, my room was huge! I had a fireplace and both shower and old fashioned tub. The only thing I missed out on was their restaurant Revival whose menu looked fantastic. Looking forward to staying again on my drive back to Connecticut! Oh, and the text message check-ins…loved that extra attention. Great job team!!! Mickey, Maya and I will be back 🙂
