We booked a 2 bedroom suite (room number 218) using the Santa Special to get away to somewhere fun and relaxing while plumbing was worked on at our house. My only complaint is us having to leave! Loved our big suite. Very clean and cozy and all appliances worked great. Hot showers with great water pressure. We only used the Palmetto tower waterpark, but loved it. My youngest son also loved the playground on the beach. All employees we spoke to were really nice. We definitely will come back.By Miss Molly (2 months ago)This was our 2nd visit to the Dunes Village Resort and our 1st with my immediate family, only. Our visit was outstanding and I would have rated the room a ‘5’ had it not been for the following:
1. The condition of the couch + pull-out bed.
2. The lack of bed linens for the pull-out bed or the Murphy bed.The mattresses were paper-thin for the most part and the mattress covers needed to be cleaned and/or replaced. These particular beds weren’t essential for our stay — one of the kids just wanted their own sleeping area outside of the main bedroom — so it didn’t really make much of a difference in the long run. We just didn’t use either of those beds.
Everything else was great! The water pressure and temperature was good, the iron worked and wasn’t leaky/rusty, the ironing board was in great condition, the TVs worked (2 of them), the beds were comfortable and the kitchen area + dishes were nice and clean when we arrived.
We had the Oceanfront Queen Suite and it was worth every penny! As you can see from the photos, the day was beautiful and it was October! 74° and 0% humidity out here!!
Unreal!!
We’ll definitely be coming back when we can get more time to do so?
By Marcus Harris (5 months ago)Lower your expectations and this resort is fantastic. It’s kinda old and a little run down. I’m sure in the 1980’s this place was top notch. Like most hotels these days they don’t over daily room cleaning unless you request it. That’s perfectly fine by us, we can take care of our own room. They supplied us with plenty of clean towels at the front desk. Our shower handle came off day one. Maintenance came up and reattached it within minutes but it never worked right afterwards. All in all, it was close to the beach with tons of amenities and extremely friendly and helpful staff.By Craig (5 months ago)We LOVE this place. It’s our GO TO spot to stay in Myrtle Beach. We have been coming over 10 yrs and my kids love it. Our home away from home. Older building so it needs up keep but all in all a great place. We love Toni at the front desk. She always makes us feel so welcomed.By Candice Brown (2 months ago)Booked this because they had a 4 bedroom ocean front condo available for a large family vacation. Decent price for location but this resort has seen better days. Rooms were clean but really outdated, furniture decades old and appliances have been there since at least the 80’s. Our dishwasher didn’t work and only 2 burners on stove worked. Oven barely worked. Staff was extremely nice from front desk to maid service. The water park was actually closed for renovations in one building, and the other had two accommodate 2 buildings full of people. Heated indoor pool was Luke warm as were the Jacuzzis. On Friday evening every jacuzzi was full of over 1 dozen kids as indoor pool was too cold to really stay in so we never really got to enjoy the water parks at all. Saturday was even worse. Great price and clean but don’t expect any luxury beds or features.By Candace Kaufman (a month ago)

Stayed the first week of August. Originally I had no idea that my group was staying at the Dunes, which if I would’ve known we wouldn’t of paid so much to stay there. I figured we were staying in a hotel, not motel feeling. It was too late to cancel when I realized, so we bit the bullet and kept the reservation.
Upon arriving, guest service was great! We got our room quickly and had our keys attached as a bracelet! Which, was awesome!! The pool for the Dunes is small, but not as crowded as the other pools. The other pools at the resort, we’re super small and crowded. Which, expected but being such a small area figured the pool would be a bit bigger.
No free breakfast, which I would’ve loved. Considering the price of the room. Housekeeping was great, they would knock every morning and they were very prompt with delivering towels.
The room itself was okay. The lighting was bad, the bathroom had no vents, and the bed itself was a bit uncomfortable. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again for the price but it was tolerable.
By Charleen Klecak (7 months ago)Resort had great amenities. Booked the Dunes and found 1 single roach in our room. Called the front desk and they upgraded us to paradise. We appreciated that. No motel style is safe from roaches from our experience so we didn’t let that ruin our experience. Room itself in paradise was nice. Beds could of been more comfy. Shower and kitchen was awesome.By Colby M (6 months ago)Don’t forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your place. This site will compare hundreds of booking web sites and usually will have rates much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This resort is one of my favorites in the area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure will love it I’m sure!We stayed in Sailfish in a oceanfront 2 bedroom condo. This was our first time staying at Breakers and I am so happy we choose to stay there. The room was clean. From the front desk to the house keepers everyone was so friendly and helpful. My girls (11 and 13) loved the water slides. Great food and drinks at the Rusty Reel and we loved the breakfast buffet at Papa’s. Quality food and a large selection. We can’t wait to go back next year! I highly recommend Breakers.
By Myman Pessy (3 months ago)My stay was great the view of the ocean was beautiful especially at night when the moon shine down on it! It’s a place for Serenity. Theirs something I didn’t like because it considered to be a five star hotel. It need to upgrade the furniture. Their was a chair with the cushions was stained. Just one staff member was rude. But over all my trip was amazing. I am 61 disable in a mobilize chair. So I spent my time on the patio I had a blast!By Sherron H. Thompson (7 months ago)The location and the polls cannot be beat. Absolutely amazing spot with so much to keep the kids entertained. The pools are fantastic. There are super fun water slides, a warm lazy river, hot tubs everywhere.
The walk to the beach was perfect! We had a beach facing room, waking up to the sound of the waves was fabulous. It was really fun at night watching the action at the pool.
Our room had a kitchen, which is clutch to not have to eat out every meal. There was a toaster for waffles and an oven to reheat pizza. The other plus was endless pillows and towels. You know what I’m talking!
The room itself was a little dated and dingy, but you can get past that with all the other amazing things!
It would be great if that style room had a little vacuum to clean up the eating area. Kids are messy.

I never received a confirmation email. When we got there, they gave us a totally different room than I booked online. I have stayed here so many times. I’ve sent so many people to this hotel. This has been the worst experience there. We were sent to the indigo party. The room faced the street. We didn’t get the amount of beds we booked. So, 3 children and 2 adults were stuck with one bed and 1 raggedy pull out bed. I never come to the oceanfront beach resort and get a street view. That’s crazy. I’m never going to the beach to NOT look at the beach. THE FLOORS WERE SO SANDY. I took one of the towels wet it and cleaned the whole floor. The vent in the bathroom was so caked with dust. That was pitiful. This part of the whole hotel looks nothing like the other buildings at all. They would not move our room. Only because of this one experience I would never go or suggest anyone else to go. I don’t know if new management. My family and I are so disappointed in Compass Cove.
Really enjoyed the amenities and the hotel. Eight of us stayed in a three bedroom with an oceanfront front view. The room was as expected and had plenty of space for all of us. Kitchen was stocked well with cups, plates, coffee maker, utensils and a dishwasher. The room even had a washer and dryer. Most of the staff we interacted with were amazing. They have a few places to eat on sight with reasonably priced food and drinks.
I enjoyed Compass Cove for a few reasons! The car garage with the elevator in it is really a good feature. I liked the abundance of rest rooms, and the pool/patio decks were easy and accessible. Breakfast was good, plenty of options to choose from. The quality of breakfast is.. so-so. Wet eggs, floppy bacon.. but the next day it’s great. So it’s I guess depending on which staff is in the kitchen. The kitchen staff/waitresses are so friendly and don’t mind grabbing something for you if you need it! So friendly and definitely made the breakfast experience even better.
Now, the cons.
In my specific unit, the toilet upon arrival would not flush properly and the plunger became needed every other flush. The room upon entering smelled of that wet, musty scent.. it went away within a few hours of masking it by venting/running AC and opening the sliding door.
The carpet in the unit/on the balcony had the bottoms my feet stained brown badly DAILY. I am not sure if it’s always like this or I just stayed at the wrong time. Closet door was off tracks and propped against the wall, just small things like that were in our room.
The outdoor pool area has panels that won’t close at the top of the enclosure, making it really cold on the inside of the heated pool area (apparently it has been that way since the last hurricane). and this could deter some people from swimming in the snowbird season.
Only 1 hot tub worked out of the two indoor ones the duration of my stay (5 days).
Other than that, staff was so friendly, and I mean many of the maintenance/housekeeping and others employed (Compass Cove uniforms) were really kind and didn’t hesitate to welcome you or wish you a good day.
All in all, it was a nice experience. Some of my review may not be accurate if updates are made/summer season approaches, but it’s what happened during my stay.
We had a very nice room, nice and clean, kitchen was missing a few utensils though, glad we brought a few from home just in case. They have a wonderful buffet breakfast. Our only issue was with the elevators. One worked occasionally, or not at all. and some got stuck on it for awhile, while maintenance was working on it, noticed it had been well over a year since last inspection.
We have stayed there 4 straight years around Thanksgiving when rates were down.
I have absolutely 0 negatives to say about this place. Our rooms were clean, the ocean view was perfect, only think I wish there was that was different is more than one hot tub. The breakfast was AMAZING!! Tasted like it was made from scratch, and it was AMAZING. I loved this place and will end up staying here again. 😊
