Visited for my first time on Sunday and the food and ambiance was amazing. we ordered the fried calamari which was nice and crispy and my boil was very flavorful. I’m not big on spicy so I was happy to see that they accommodate the level of spice to your liking. I only deducted a star because while the drinks are pretty and taste amazing, I didn’t feel that there was any alcohol in my margarita. My friend said the same also. Other than that, I had a great time, the music was great and our server was very attentive.By Catherine Morales (5 months ago)First, the prawn crackers (at least that’s what I think they were) are delicious. Wholly recommend trying them as a thing in general.
We had calamari, a shrimp po’boy, and an oyster basket, with sweet potato fries. Everything was pretty solid. Hot and fresh. The shrimp were delicious and the oysters were perfectly juicy.
Our only complaint is that our meals could have benefited from a little more salt.
By Astrid Garrison (5 months ago)First time visiting and we had such a great experience. From the moment we walked in the hostess greeted us with a friendly demeanor and took us to our table. We had the dungeoness crab boil with potato, corn, and sausage. It was delicious! Our server, Anthony G, was super attentive. He checked on us often, made sure our buckets did not overflow, and came by our table frequently to make sure we didn’t need anything. Overall an awesome dining experience at Hook & Reel.By Jennifer S. (4 months ago)First time here and I loved it! Cali was an awesome server. A large amount of food. They also have great drink specials. Happy hour 12 until I forgot when which is a great length of time! They have a bar, tons of tables, and a large parking lot. This is a great casual spot to come with some friends you feel comfortable getting dirty with. They do provide bibs and gloves.
By Sasha Demenjon (5 months ago)Packaya was a great server. Food was good as well. The loud music is a definite turn-off. For the reason alone I will not return. I was under the impression I was in a restaurant not a damn club. Menu fonts too small to ready. Lighting in you booths is dark which makes it almost impossible to read the menu. 18% gratitude which was added to my bill is a disappointment. For 2 people was a bit much.By James M. The service was really good and quick. Our server was really attentive and had knowledge about the menu. The food was really tasty. We had flight for drink that was also amazing and refreshing. The cost of 2 entrees, 1 flight drink and dessert was close to $45. A perfect seating for date night.By Ila Singh (11 months ago)Good service after not being at this branch for a while. Menu has changed. My best friend and I came here for a late lunch. We ordered appetizers, drinks and salad. One star off because her salad had brown leaves in it and wasn’t fresh. Our server Vinny was good. We had to grab his attention to get water but other than that he’s a great server. Small booths were really small so we got a bigger booth because we know how we eat lol.By Savvy L (a month ago)Always a vibrant atmosphere with great service! Enjoyed some delicious crispy chicken wings, chicken sandwich, the sirloin with battered fried shrimp & mash and broccoli and for drinks we sampled the new trio mix!! Would return and recommend ?By Sergia Rosario (a month ago)I enjoyed this location so much I almost thought I was on vacation at a Caribbean Island lol. The last time I had a Piña Colada I was on vacation in Puerto Rico, near my hotel in El Condado. The Piña at Bahama Breeze was very good I almost had two of them if it weren’t for the fact that I’m a Diabetic. The staff is the friendliest, our waitress looked so much like a close friends daughter and was professional and just so sweet, you can tell it was who she was and not an act. She constantly came by to make certain we were OK. Her coworker was also very nice and they made us feel comfortable as if we were the only couple dinning in that day. The atmosphere was very nice, there was an appealing scent of corribean cuisine in the air, the location has plenty of light yet the lights were dim enough to make the dining experience that much more enjoyable.
The food was amazing. We had the meat empanadas as an appetizer and I had the Coconut Shrimp tacos that were phenomenal, there were so many flavors with every bite. I had my own Fiesta lol. If I ever had a day (like the ones where you want to run away and not look back) for a nice diner and a causal drink. I definitely recommend this location. I can’t say that for any other restaurant and I can’t say it enough. Treat yourself, sometimes you have to!By Lou (2 months ago)We finally tried this restaurant after saying, “we should eat there some time” for years. We liked it! Very family friendly, service was good, food was very good. I had this yummy meal:Jerk Chicken Pineapple Bowl

Came here for dinner, and the food was delicious. The sashimi were fresh, and the donuts for dessert was absolutely amazing. Our server was the best, if you get Liam as your server – you’re in great hands. Highly recommend going!By Sandy W (6 months ago)Let the rich waste their money here! This was bought for us as a gift $250.
Please avoid. Honestly if you’re an average person, there are so many better Japanese restaurants at a reasonable price, with great service.
First of all the service for such an expensive place was very poor. Arrived on time and had to wait 15 minutes for our table. The bar area was was full with loud pretentious people, trying to out do each other with who can order the most expensive drink. Tried to order the food with no idea of what to order and in what order e.g. starters and mains, asked the waitress for advice she seem flustered and obnoxious. Finally ordered the food after Googling how to order. The food then came out in what ever way they felt fit to serve, main dishes served with Sushi cold dishes. The mains were 20
minutes apart by which time the food was cold.
Please save your money and visit a smaller family run place. Spend the money there and help them.
Everything is so over priced and tasted very basic, literally ruined my final evening in New York after a wonderful visit.
I will never again be visiting this place and advise my friends and family to avoid. Final damage $245 and the left over food I gave to a homeless person.By Karl English (9 months ago)Great vibe. Convenient location. I was visiting and got lost. The hostess was able to guide me. The food was ok. I tried a variety of options on the menu the best were the steak tacos. The drinks were phenomenal. Would def come back for the drinks.By Arnitia Goodman (10 months ago)I would give this place 10 stars ⭐️out of 5. Do a bit of research before you go. The menu is extensive and has a lot to offer. Our server Diana knew exactly what she was doing. We just had a list of items we pulled out of some reviews and she narrowed it down for us. The yellow tail with jalapeño was a great starter. The salmon tataki was our second favorite. The sea bass and the beef toban was out of the world. Do yourself a favor….. just order all the desserts they have. You absolutely don’t want to miss them. We just had the most wonderful meal yesterday and we can’t wait to go back. The food is beyond amazing, spectacular and absolutely delicious. The balance of flavor and texture is so well balanced……. we were just blown away.By Maya Majumdar (5 months ago)We’ve been coming here for years, always loved it but hadn’t been for quite some time. So we just returned there for lunch and…it was just as awesome as always! We love sitting at the upstairs sushi bar and getting recos from the sushi chefs. This time we were in more of a veggie mode, so only had a couple seafood dishes – the yellowtail jalepeno (our fave), tiradito w/ fluke (lovely w/ a nice spicy kick), rock shrimp tempura (yum), then the hearts of palm salad and warm mushroom salad. Everything was so delicious and the service is outstanding. Go! One note, we like this location 10x better than the other ones in NY.By John Hingley (a month ago)

I really enjoyed this place. There was a Mexican restaurant next door that was so full that they couldn’t see me and my friends. We decided to try this place next door and their food was excellent. They have alot of unique options. They tolerated our loudness and didn’t kick us out pass the hour and kept serving us. They had a popular drink supporting breat cancer research and had my friends hooked. They were super nice. My friend forgot his tablet and even after closing someone responded and stored it for us.By Carlos Lopez (2 months ago)One of my favorite local places. The service is good. Our server did a great job on the latest visit, even with our special requests. My family loves the potato soup. There was a short wait for this visit. Access for this location is right off the highway.By Helper Assistant (10 months ago)Always have a great time here and have yummy food! We all enjoyed our meals ?By Jennifer (5 months ago)AMAZING experience here. We went during happy hour and bought craft beer. The beer was an IPA tasting very fresh with hints of citrus. They were $4 for 12oz so very good deal. If you order to dine in, def try their stuffed ‘shrooms! i don’t even like mushrooms but these were made soooooo good. Also, try the cauliflower bites. these were the best i ever tasted!! our waiter was great too! he knew exactly when to come and was on point with service. Will be back again 🙂By Jay Abreu (11 months ago)Love Houlihans. Sat outside with my libation and had shrooms, chicken Parm. Burgers food too. Nice and clean. Exactly what you would expect it to be. Casual/Family Dining with reasonably priced Food and Drinks. I personally feel the quality and quantity is pretty good for the price and taste has been consistent whenever I visited which is commendable.
Staff are friendly and professional but the service can be slow, especially during Dinner time but I didn’t want to reduce my rating for that since this is a relax with a Drink or have a meal with your family and friends, and the delay in Service is usually not a big deal. Service Staff are usually quite apologetic anytime there is a delay, so I am fine with that.
By Hema K (a week ago)This is a great family restaurant and bar. There is a good variety of food and something for almost everyone. You can order a started , main and sweet plate fir just under $25
The walls are decorated in very cool vintage posters, which I have shared some in my photos Plenty of mood-setting decorative windows, stained glass, and ornate mirrors.
The amber glow of wooden furniture definitely sets the tone for a warm, “everybody knows your name” vibe.
Bar has lots variety as well
Easy parking and many other things near byEnjoy

The amber glow of wooden furniture definitely sets the tone for a warm, “everybody knows your name” vibe. Added bonus: good chance nobody knows your name.By Ciro Romero (7 months ago)Went here on my birthday after seeing the other locations in Jersey. Definitely one of the best chain American restaurants with fun appetizers and seriously the largest drinks during happy hour. Will definetly come back with friends and the waitress was amazing with recommendations and service.By Jenn N. (2 months ago)This place is even steven or steady stew, not too good and not too bad so go with some friends and family and enjoy yourself. Great location and the kitchen is open late with late night happy hour prices $$ and special. Movie theater is across the parking lot so nice location for dinner and movie.By Okang McBride (a month ago)
