The rock oysters are tasty, it’s a really good one. I’ll try the wild oysters next time, and already planned the next trip 😂

The other dishes are great as well. Before this, I doubt that beans can be good. I try the sides here with roasted cod, found out that beans are really good, as good as the cod. The platter ordered by friends looks nice, yet I didn’t try , can’t tell how delicious it is. I like the crab cake, it always is the one I would try even if I’m full. If the crab cake can be more solid, it would be the one I like very much. The preference of mine doesn’t make me love the crab cake here less, I think I should point this out.

For the dessert, I was amazed by blue cheese ice cream. Haven’t try any cheese ice cream before, yet this one really expands my imagination of ice cream. It’s more cheesy, it also is an ice cream. It is an ice cream, somehow there might have people like my friend argue that is cheese frozen. No matter what it is, I recommend everyone visiting should try to gain new experience of ice cream. The great dessert always make the dining experience up to the higher level, and this is it.

Wheelers really is as good as its reputation. The staff are lovely and clearly incredibly passionate about seafood. Every single dish is divine and incredibly well priced. Wheelers don’t have a licence but with corkage only £3 and an amazing “Offy” over the road bringing your own bottle to the table only adds to the charm. The shop in front of the seated dining has an amazing spead of take away seafood and cook at home treats. 100% recommend for anyone wishing to sample British seafood and hospitality at its best. Unpretentious, fresh and perfectly executed

A great independent restaurant. Delia, Mark and team are delivering a wonderful dining experience. We visited the Wheelers Oyster Bar for a quick lunch but we couldn’t stop eating. We had ceviche of John dory and roasted scallops as starters and turbot with crab and coriander wontons and shimeghi mushrooms as main dish…..the food was so amazing so we ordered another dish….lobster lasagna, leek and white crab ragout, girolle mushrooms, aged parmesan, buttered broad beans and peas, lobster and tarragon sauce.. .a waltzer of flavours in your mouth 😊😉The fig and almond tartar was delicious too. A must visit restaurant in Whitstable!!!

One of our best seafood meals in the UK!
    – Both raw oysters and oysters with yuzu marinades are lovely but preferred the raw one as you can taste the sea 😆I ordered Whitstables oyster delivery before but this one tastes so much better
    – the cooked king prawns are huge and tasty
    – lobster lasagne is a must-have!
We definitely will come back again 😋

We’ve headed over to Whitstable for New Year and were super lucky to get into Wheelers for lunch earlier today!!!🥸

You are gonna see and read just how epic this food was, but it really doesn’t do it justice!! This was one of the finest meals we have had this year and we really can’t recommend you get yourself to Whitstable to eat here enough!! 😋

The place itself is very unassuming and is very akin to eating in your friends or relatives dining room (which we bloody love!!).. the staff are truly top notch, we didn’t get our waiters name today (very rude of us) but he was an absolute superstar, the sort of person you want sat down eating with you!! Looked after us every step of the way!!

These were just the starters but fear not – the mains and desserts will be following!

Our fave things: The whole experience, food, service, atmosphere, menu, deli counter for takeaway bits!! Just BRAVO!!! 😍🥰

Excellent food and service from the moment we walked in.
Friendly staff that explained everything on the tasting menu and the options. The food is tastefully presented and each ingredient is put together in a way that wows the senses but not in an over the top show off. Excellent food at every course.
Great selection of drinks including local Whitstable ales.
If you want somewhere to share something special this is it.

The restaurant never lets me down!
We’ve been coming here for over 10 years and the food is always absolutely impeccable.
Service wasn’t as good as it used to be, there used to be an older gentleman who would always take the time to learn what you like and recommend dishes and wine. Now it’s just a few young girls, who don’t really know much.
But the food is always faultless!!

Excellent service. Good selection of red and white wine. Michelin grade food. Only tasting menu available at the moment. However it is a tasting menu you can select from a number of courses. Quality of food is way above normal restaurants.

Booked in September to ensure I could have the date I wanted. I am not sure whether it was really necessary but I was conscious how busy the Sportsman can be.

The team were really friendly and welcoming. The service was excellent.

The food was delicious (just a small selection of photos – regretfully I had started some of the other dishes before I realised I had not taken a picture). The Oysters were absolutely wonderful and would have happily eaten many more.

It was one of the best meals we had in ages! Lots of choices with truffle (like risotto- was amazing) Great customer service too. Wine selection was extensive and the waiters were happy to recommend. Even though it is on the road, it’s not a very busy one and the views are of a countryside.

One of the best meals we’ve had in Whitstable. This little place is full of charm, the simplicity of a French bistro and uncomplicated dishes packed with flavour. This is not fancy food for fancy sake, this is beautifully crafted, wholesome dishes, with attention to taste. We ordered two starters (mussels & scallops), bread, olives and the beef wellington to share between two of us and it was plenty along with the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The wine was fantastic, and reasonably priced, but we did find the selection of spirits available to be somewhat basic and lacking the curated attention that could have complimented the overall experience better. Regardless, I will be back time and time again. No dogs unfortunately ❌

The staff are really friendly and professional, no complaints about the service. Luckily we were sat outside as the restaurant itself was boiling hot even with the fans going full blast. The food was ok although with such a small menu I was hoping it would be better. The monkfish I ordered was battered but it was soggy not crisp as I would have expected. The bill was over £125 for two people, including a bottle of wine. For that kind of price I was hoping for a bit more skill from the kitchen.

The service was warm and the setting was relaxed. We took advantage of the reasonably priced set menu. Whilst the food was not overly amazing, it was well cooked and presented – if I had to describe it I would call it comfort food.

Mussels and oysters lovely and fresh. Dish of the day mackeral excellent, as was the steak. Also great sweets. Nice surroundings, good service and reasonably priced. Would definitely return.

Save the best til last! We ended our trip to Whistable with a meal at Birdies and it was really lovely. Probably our favourite meal in Whistable throughout our stay – though also the most expensive! We got the seafood asiette, monkfish, half a dozen oysters, cherry cheesecake and chocolate truffle torte. All were amazing, and the atmosphere was very nice. We were sat right by the door on a small table for two that felt like had been squeezed in though so it felt a little odd. Otherwise great place. They’re very busy and we did have to book as they were packed out the day before. Booking over the phone at lunchtime for dinner was super easy, the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Especially the lovely young woman with reddish hair and glasses that served us, we didn’t catch her name. Full of great banter, as was the gentleman that took our order. Would gladly come back.

Very friendly welcome, prompt professional service. Open kitchen serving small (and not so small) plates of inventive tasty food. Heavy on the seafood. A very nice experience and became busy. Booking probably essential. I believe revived by crowdfunding after a potential lease closedown. Well worth a visit.

One of my favourite seaside restaurants and so glad they survived lockdown. Feel the cancellation policy is a little unwelcoming as it’s a 50 mile drive for us but appreciate than many people just don’t show up.
Great menu and difficult to know what to pick. Food comes as and when it’s ready as it’s freshly prepared.
The Indian spiced Chickpeas where prefect as were the deep fried prawns. Chargrilled chilli squid was a little chewy for me but the mutton and feta koftas were a good choice.

The food here is absolutely delicious. It is all freshly prepared and you can tell. Very extensive menu and everything that we ate was delicious.
The staff were super friendly and very helpful. They were very attentive to everyone’s needs and always smiling.
I highly recommend a visit, though I believe that booking is essential as it was quite full when we visited on a Saturday at lunchtime.

Aubergine and courgettes were so well made and fabulous.

JoJo’s offers and amazing selection of super fresh seaside tapas. The staff are just as amazing as the food, super friendly and very attentive! They offer a great seasonal menu that changes all the time so you can keep going back

The fresh grilled mackerel on their main menu is the best I have ever eaten!
