This was really good. We tried the fried alligator, the huge smothered potato and the sampler platter. We had leftovers of course. Our server was fantastic. The house salad was very good. There was not a long wait when we went. Plenty of parking. I would definitely recommend coming here and hope to come back someday as many things on the menu looked really intriguing. We had visited the firey crab last time, I would definitely come here instead.By Daryl McCleery (a year ago)My family and I went to Baton Rouge for a college tour and set out for good southern creole/seafood. With so many choices we chose Roux 61 and was rewarded with great food…to the point my picky eater 9 year old actually enjoyed the different types of foods. Overall, it was a great dining experience. The only hang up was the parking, someway that has improve.By Ed Lewis (7 months ago)We drive for 2 days just to eat here because we love it so much. Excellent food, excellent and friendly staff, clean and great environment. Only thing that could improve are thee surfaces on the tables. They are a bit sticky. Otherwise it’s a great place.By Krissie Spande (9 months ago)Pretty average. Not somewhere that I feel is a must do, but definitely gets the job done. Today I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and loaded baked potato with a Cesar salad. They have a house salad but it has cranberries/ pecans and other things I didn’t want. I do wish they had a simple side salad.By Lee Lastovica (5 months ago)What is there not to like here?
Delicious 😋
Amber is a great waitress.
We only live 41/2 hours from here and already planning another visit to this restaurant.
My husband and I totally enjoyed the food and atmosphere ☺

Both raw oyster and chargrilled oyster are my love! Add a soft shell crab into the fried seafood sampler please, it worth!
Cocktail drink is just okay, just pretty. The waitress is not friendly, keep watching her Apple Watch every 10 seconds when order/ talk to us .By Yoyo Yo (8 months ago)I have eaten at this franchise in Destin Florida, and never could get in the door in New Orleans.
Who doesn’t love oysters in the half shell? We got there just before it got too busy and the atmosphere is fun and festive. Oysters came out on ice with the sauce and lemon. These were huge. Not just large but huge. Definitely tasty and I will have to come back for some more.
Restaurant was clean and the checkered table cloth took me back to my childhood so it was kinda nostalgic.By Janos Ingerle (9 months ago)My wife and I love char-grilled oysters. One of our go-to spots didn’t have them or didn’t have crew to cook them, so we figured an establishment with oysters in its name surely could produce a decent oyster. Not the case on this day. I get that restaurants are still having staffing issues, but this wasn’t a staffing issues. Two guys were in the oyster station. They were both either too busy shucking oysters or chatting with customers or staff to watch the grill. Our oysters were cooked way to long. On top of that when you plate oysters you should probably make sure all that all oyster shells actually have an oyster on them. Two of my wife’s did not. At almost $30 a dozen it’s tough to not get what you pay for.
I did speak with the manager on the way out. I thought maybe by sharing the experience, possibly some improvements could be made.By Clyne Peak (6 months ago)Pretty cool locals restaurant. Always wanted to some here but the one in NO was always rediculously lined up with tourist traffic. This one is much more chill. Sat at the bar and the service was great. The locals were friendly and the food was good. Besides the oysters the seafood gumbo was excellent. Parking was easy. Overall a good experience.Market price for raw oyster at the the time (Nov 6, 2021) was $17/doz.
By Savage Gear Americas (a year ago)I’ll start this off with the fact that I am not big into fried food. That ebign said when in Louisiana, do as the locals do.Was recommended to this place from a local and it did not disappoint. What is disappointing is the fact that I didn’t take more pictures for this review.
I really enjoyed the oysters. So much so that I ordered 2 dozens of them. The seafood was all very fresh and probably the best fried fish, and fried shrimp that I have had in a long time.
The gumbo was also very good however, I haven’t had enough gumbo to be an expert. It was better than the gumbo from yesterday.
Service was pretty good. My only complaint is that out meals didn’t all come out at the same time.
If you are in Baton Rouge and like fried food. Give it a shot.

Food was stellar! I personally had the seafood pasta which was delicious! The other seafood dishes my family had wad tasteful as well! I recommend to anyone in or outside of Baton Rouge. On top of that the place fit the seafood genre perfectly and the patio was also pleasant & nice as well!
First let me say the service was very good. The issue and it happens most places is they want to take all of your order ASAP. I chalk this up to either the server is just eager or the restaurant wants to turn the table around quickly and have told the servers to do this. Our server did well and got the hint that we weren’t in a hurry and didn’t want to be rushed. I can’t stand it when a restaurant brings entrees out while you are still eating a salad or appetizer. Now that said, the atmosphere in the back is not that great and table was small and wobbly. We tried to sit in the front in a booth but it was too tight. The fried foods like fish and shrimp were great. The drinks were not consistent but pretty good and a great value. The char grilled oysters were okay but not the best we’ve had. They weren’t really all that charred and the sauce was a bit odd, kinda of a gravy. I had the tuna steak Caesar salad which was good but the tuna was a bit overcooked. The only real miss food wise was the rice dressing which was more of a boudin filling.
This is a great restaurant. This is my second time eating there on two trips to Baton Rouge. Both meals were fantastic, this time I had the pasta that was loaded with so much seafood and meat that it was crazy. It was delicious. The service was impeccable, my hostess was always at the table whenever I needed her and she made sure that she stopped by during my meal and asked how I was.
Parrain’s was selected for a birthday brunch for a family member, and we really enjoyed the lunch. First we ordered appetizers for the table. Our selections were the oysters, blackened alligator bites and crab fingers. Everyone enjoyed sampling each item. My personal favorite was the blackened alligator bites. Though it is listed on the menu as Fried alligator bites, we requested blackened. I highly recommend trying it if you haven’t already. As far as the entrees, we ordered a variety of entrees, and the food was really good. There was only one complaint about the Brussels sprouts being a little overlooked. Other than that, it was warm upon arrival to the table, and it was seasoned really well. I think it is safe to safe, the decision to dine at the restaurant was a good decision. I would recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for some food seafood.
Someone from the area recommend this spot and I’m glad I stopped in during my recent visit to Baton Rouge. We came on Saturday evening and there were a lot of people, but fortunately only 2 of us and we were seated immediately. Great service and delicious food. I ordered several items and was pleased with all of my choices. The catfish po boy was good despite not having as much fish on the sandwich. Still 5 stars in my opinion.
