  1. This place is beautiful!!! I think it’s great that they let horses and dogs use the beach in the off months when people wouldn’t really want to be there anyway. What a great idea! We can’t wait to go back again! The views are awesome! Just make sure you pay attention to the tides. You are only supposed to ride on the beach within a few hours (before or after) low tide.

  2. lL Bean added a wonderful box in the center of the parking lot where you can borrow beach chairs,, umbrellas, games,… All free and return as you leave the beach. During summer months it is best to be there when they open at 9 am or after 1 pm when people start leaving, otherwise harder to get in and find parking. We love the soft sand, at low tide exploring islands, and kids enjoy the gentle waves. Lifeguard on duty during summer months to notify people of rip currents. We truly love this beach

  3. Came here in the mid afternoon just before low tide and was able to walk out to the rocks in the distance. The water was cold but wonderful on a hot summer day. The restrooms were clean. Admission is charged per person.

  4. The Fort area and small adjacent beach is getting very congested and less accessible due to new construction of private homes there! The shoreline is also looking more worn away. High tide takes much of the fun ‘private’ secluded beach spots away … The main beach is beautiful! They’ve installed a new covering on the walking pathway from parking lot to beach which is fabulous! They also have a very good Lifeguard and Ranger presence lately. The large inlet lagoon/wading area has alot of fish in it … there are alot of areas to explore along this beach and it has been a favorite in my family for 30+ years!

  5. Visiting area & came across this beach. Beautiful! There during low tide & just awesome to be able to walk across to the rock mount to get a better view of the lighthouse across the way. Busy with people sitting around and taking in a sunny day in October. The beach was officially closed so no fe was required but there was a box asking for donations- with donating- bathrooms were available to use & there is a rubber carpet path that extended & lead to beach – great surprise as my friend wheelchair bound as able to see the beach closer. Would loved to have seen high tide! Next time!

Amazing beach. It’ll be crowded and the water will be freezing but a beautiful view and some of the best waves. Fun climbing spot on the right as well. Parking will be a nightmare so have patience when heading in or prepare for a longer walk.

Best combination of white sand, beautiful rock formations and pine trees!! ❤️ we went in August and it’s crowded and water is freezzziinnggg! We enjoyed it nevertheless! The parking lot is full so we have to find parking in the side of the street, even the street is so full we have to park like a mile away, the views were beautiful and not so bad of a trek. So you can combine nature hike then end in the beach 🏖

Only beach in acadia national forest. Great place to enjoy the warm sun and cold waters of the atlantic. The sand here is unique because 70% of it is ground sea shells. Small beach and usually pretty crowded. It has a overlookpoint on the right for which you need to get through some rocks. Getting a place to park can be a challenge during busy weekends. The parking lot is usually full and people park along the park loop road as well and walk down to the beach. There are restrooms and changing rooms here as well. Must visit spot in acadia.

This is the beautiful beach next to Beehive summit trail, we can relax at this beach after hike, it’s always crowded.

A pretty beach with unique views, but it was a little small and crowded. The sand felt great, but it descends sharply into the surf and creates a strong current going back out into the cove – so watch your kids closely! We went mid-week, just before the season really got going and it was hard to get photos without including the crowd along the beach, but it was enjoyable nonetheless!

Great beach wasn’t too crowded. Soft sand for a good bit of it, down near the water was a bit rocky, there was also large beautiful rocks to climb and tide pools to explore. Will definitely go back. Parking was a little confusing to me at first and it was great that there is a public bathroom that was not an outhouse! but it was small a little dirty the time we went.

Best dog allowed beach I ever went
My baby loved it and bet she wants to go back
I will definitely go back with other dogs

Beautiful beach, bad “compromise” on dog rules. Previously in the off season this beach was off leash all day, but as of Nov 25th, dogs must be leashed from 10am-3pm, Oct 1st-April 30th. A woman was there photographing people without their permission for having their dogs off leash today.

    ****UPDATE*****
The anti-dog lobby has gained ground. Beach now nearly unusable for off-leash time. Any pretense of “sharing” with dog owners can be discarded, I think. New photos reflect the extensive rules as of July 27, 2022. Police and rangers walking the beach to enforce. YAY!! So fun!! Never going back.

Best kept secret in Portland. Small easy access for handicap and perfect just to spend some time by the water with locals
