Typically with a restaurant like this (beachfront in a high tourist area) you’re really paying for the location.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that was NOT the case with Duke’s Waikiki – everything was perfect.

The host (Faye) and our server (Krissie) were both so great. Faye was really welcoming and answered a few questions I had. Krissie was great from start to finish. She was pleasant, funny and very attentive even though she was quite busy.

I booked about a month in advance for mine and my husband’s anniversary dinner and we were sat at a lovely table.

Upon being seated, one of the glasses had broken due to the cutlery resting inside. We were offered a free round of drinks for the inconvenience. I thought that was really customer oriented since we didn’t mention it or anything, it was just offered right away.

I did the ravioli which was delicious and my husband did the buffet they offered at the time.

We did receive a free dessert for our anniversary which was absolutely DELICIOUS.

Everything was great – impeccable customer service, great food and a lovely location.

Me and my wife went to Hawaii for our honeymoon. Dukes gave us the best seat in the house with an incredible view. But the atmosphere is incredible, I’ve never eaten at a restaurant like this before. Make sure to make your reservations as early as you possibly can, this place is a gem. 11/10 will definitely go back at least one time next time we’re in Waikiki. The food was phenomenal, and the staff members at dukes were awesome. They were all extremely polite, and helped us decide on what we wanted to eat because everything on the menu sounded incredible. I highly recommend this place to anyone!!! You will not be disappointed ??❤️

All the food we got at our table was great. I had the prime rib. Others at the table had ravioli, fish, and lobster. Tasting the other’s food have to say that it all was delicious. This place you have to reserve way ahead of time. Mike about a week or more, depending on the season .
We got on a waiting list and it was 3 hours, so be prepared on that end. Service was fast and did a good job even though very packed. The view out the back side towards the beach are great. Would recommend evening meal the sunset was beautiful with sail boats in background. We had the ice-cream
Pie for dessert. The Hula. Huge size it was enough to share for sure. Cocktails were all good too. Definitely a great place to eat when in this area.

Great selection of food and drinks. Very nice location, watching the sunset on the patio is a great experience. I had the Duke’s cheeseburger and fries. It was good. I also tried the Mango BBQ bacon burger, I liked that one better. Also, you cannot leave without having the Hula Pie. It is one of the best desserts I’ve had.

It’s a Waikiki institution, so you should go, but the food and service were meh.

It’s right on the beach and open-air, so nice ambiance. Our food came out lukewarm and our server, who brought the food out (late, as the food seemed to have sat for a while = why it was cold) was just okay.

We ordered the calamari and coconut shrimp appetizers and the fish and chips meal. They came out at the same time, not coursed out. They would have been great if served hot, but alas.

An amazing local spot with great specials, live music, and a menu that is not easy to choose from. I wanted everything!!!

Seafood chowder is my son’s fave. Just like clam chowder, small portion.

If you like oysters, get the oyster shooter! By far the best I’ve ever had.

I personally dislike like crowds, it was busy but it’s spacious and open-air so I didn’t feel enclosed. Cool and casual just how I like it.

    John exuded the aloha spirit.??
    A++ service!

Delicious food! Served in a timely manner and the portion was generous. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was crispy on the outside, and moist on the inside. The fish flaked perfectly under the fork. I loved the chips too!! They were perfectly salted and coated with garlic making for a truly decadent experience. The live entertainment was excellent. My only regret was we couldn’t stay the whole evening to listen.

Fantastic environment write down by the water with a lot of open seating outdoors. We had to swordfish to catch of the day which was a tuna and the shrimp scampi and everybody loved it! I would highly recommend this place for some delicious seafood dinners! You won’t go wrong.

Nico’s Upstairs isn’t quite ready for a total opening, but it promises to be a superb experience. The ambience is reminiscent of Nick’s Fishmarket and the long ago Canlis, but contemporary. Upscale, but laid back. Lounge area is going to be popular, and the BAR!!! Copper all around.

Our service was excellent. Unobtrusive and anticipatory. Our party of 4 tried four different entrees, two starters, a salad, soup, and every dessert. We tried two signature cocktails and a whiskey sour. Everything was delicious and distinctive. So much so that each of us tried a dish that we normally wouldn’t ever order. And we were so impressed. We spent three times as much at a long time Waikiki establishment and were so disappointed. We have a new go-to.

We would like to keep it our secret, but we want them to succeed. We could’ve lied.

Live music, great food & drinks, amazing service! I got the braised short ribs very good, next time I’d like to try the crab cake sandwich! Also recommend the chocolate cake for dessert! There was a 25 minute wait so may be worth calling a head!

Amazing service, food, drinks and atmosphere. Fair prices for delicious food. You truly can’t beat the view and wonderful service. Not once did we feel rushed. The little things like extra guava butter and waters always filled. We arrived a little before sunset, had time to walk the gardens and then take our seat. Truly magical place amongst the mountains. We ordered the calamari fries, grilled fish with pesto and lobster sauce over mashed potatoes and the macadamia nut chicken salad. Drinks were delicious and good price! Wish we could dine here every night!

If you want a good seat you have to arrive early. But boy is it still worth the wait if you don’t get in the first seating. The ambience is amazing to match the food. Although the price is a little steep, the portion sizes are large and the flavors are great. We opted for the prime rib and macadamia nut crusted fish which turned out to be marlin. Both were excellent.

We came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday and it did not disappoint. We walked down to the pond while waiting for our table (which you have to sign up for in person – it was a
1.5 hour wait at 6pm on a Tuesday). The pond, ambiance, pagoda, etc were amazing. Our son had a ton of fun there. We got a text that our table was ready so up we went. We ordered the prime rib and whole fried fish, along with the crab dip and calamari fries – everything was amazing!! And to my wife’s high standards. We all had such a great time. Definitely recommend. Also, thanks to the hostess for giving us a prime location right overlooking the pond. Beautiful

Good food, amazing service and stunning views of the mountains. My wife and I dined her for the first time in September and had a great time. We waited in line 30 minutes before the restaurant opened and quite the line had formed by the time they opened so you may want to get here early. We were seated at a very sunny table and asked to be moved to a table in the shade which the staff did not hesitate to oblige. I got the sticky ribs which were dry and salty while my wife got the New York Strip Steak which she enjoyed. While you wait for your table, be sure to walk around the Haiku Gardens.

Got there around 4:45, were quoted over an hour and 15 minute wait but were seated probably within about 30 minutes. (The food also came out in a quick pace, but it was not rushed.)

    • Seafood chowder was VERY tasty (especially the croutons which surprised me!).
    • Sizzling Mushroom appetizer was simple and delicious.

    • Prime rib was legit. Very fatty and flavorful, well balanced horseradish sauce.
    • Grilled fish was a fun flavor combination and cooked to a good consistency.

Non alcoholic drink options were decent, I did a guava-rita, it should have been shaken so the whole thing was cold, but flavor was good.

Service was excellent ?? hostesses (and the manager I presume) were polite and made good eye contact, the server was efficient and cleared all plates and they were done.

We didn’t save room for dessert, but we will definitely be going back just for an appetizer and dessert next time.

Fresh, fast and most of all very yummy! Large dishes at a great low price. Line was out the door, down the stairs and along the footpath- but moved quickly and worth the short wait.
✭✭✭✭✭ By Angel WC (2 months ago)
Went there on a Wednesday around 7pm and line was out the door but we only ended up waiting about 20 min total to order and 5 min for food after that.

The caeser salad was pretty good but not amazing. We got the fresh fish plates both blackened and the fish was amazing. The potatoes in both forms were spot on. The french fries were top notch and very similar to the ones of some national chain with arches. The home potatoes were excellent as well. The cajun rice was alright, nothing special in my opinion. The coleslaw that comes with the plates wasn’t something I preferred.

In summary I would definitely come back again and this place has excellent food overall.

This place was great! When we showed up there was a very long line, but honestly, the staff handled it very well, and quickly! We waited about 20 min until they let us in to order. The cashier was very quick taking our order and we had our food out in about 10 minutes. My wife and I, both ordered Mahi and Cajun rice with a drink. The food came out tasting very delicious and was very high quality! I think out of all the places I tried in Waikiki, this one tops it for their quality seafood! Very affordable compared to other places as well! Highly recommended!

The Paia fish market is one of my favorite places to eat in Oahu. They have an enormous variety of fish and dishes. The portions are very fair for the price and the food is very good!
Its a popular place and its well deserved. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the varieties of fishes served there. A small bar has drinks and we have always been satisfied leaving this restaurant. We visit every year we come to Hawaii.

Ate twice in two days it is that good! Dinner with seared ahi, home fries, and a robust cabbage slaw rounded out the dinner. Hot off the grill/broiler made the dishes unbelievably good. And a dinner salad that was brilliant! Came back the next day for a grilled fish burger. They nailed ever tasty morsel of food. Friendly staff too!

I love visiting local restaurants when traveling. Uncle Bo’s popped up in a search for dinner near Waikiki. From our hotel, which was a few blocks from the beach, we had about a 15 minute walk. Not terrible by any means, and the walk was safe, well lit and there were sidewalks. From the outside, Uncle Bo’s doesn’t appear to be the nicest of places, but looks can be deceiving. When we walked in to the restaurant, we were surprised to see a lovely establishment. Kind of gave me speakeasy or high end supper club vibes. I made a reservation ahead of time, which is what I always recommend whenever traveling. We were seated right on time.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu is very diverse, plenty of options. We ordered the Spinach Dip to start and the Chicken Alfredo and Crab Salad for entrees. All of the dishes were excellent. I would say some of the menu items the prices can be quite steep, but we for sure had leftovers that we saved for another meal. They also have quite an extensive drink menu.

If you are looking for nice local restaurant with a variety of menu options, add this to your list of Honolulu must tries.

The SOS was probably the best I had during our vacation. The seafood inside, from the clams to the scallops, it was cooked perfectly, soft and clearly fresh. The sauce had no reason to be that good and was made even better when paired with the rice. The ceviche was above average and well balanced. All in my group loved the drinks as well. Overall, am excellent meal.

Uncle Bo’s, A must go and experience. I had the blue crab cakes and the calamari appetizers. Amazing! The crab cakes were crispy on the outside, moist and savory on the inside, drizzled with an Asian fusion glaze. Nicely done. The calamari was just as amazing. Served with a sweet chili dipping soup, wow! The atmosphere is friendly, several customers enjoying each other’s company. Also try the Hawaiian ice tea. I will head back to experience more of the menu

Really wanted to love this place but it was all distinctly average. Maybe our fault for thinking we were going to get authentic Hawaiian food based on the reviews.
Not sure what they were going for with the Boca Rota – people like garlic bread and meat?
Pork belly and kalua sliders were lukewarm at best.
It’s not like a speakeasy or supper club like some reviews suggested, there’s been no money spent on the decor or furniture, it’s basic.

Pupus were fantastic and unique. Definitely more than enough to share. Nachos had a unique combination and were super tasty. Dynamite shrimp was great and so was the boca rota. If you are looking for a non tourist spot with decent prices, look no further.
