The ‘deckhand’ style oysters were great, nice size. Love their salt and pepper calamari but we got with shrimp this time which was great, love this dish, they’re breading is always flavorful and light. The addition of onion, jalapeno and cilantro with the slaw is super tasty! Kids shrimp and Fry basket was plenty and reasonably priced. The mussels dish with rice had a ton of flavor, kind of like a kicked up super spicy ramen broth. My only complaint was the service, our waitress was incredibly slow and took forever to bring the things that we asked for and did not check on us unfortunately but I’ve been a fan of deckhand so far and am super pleased they have the new location right near the old!By Renee Riffee (5 months ago)Food was very good. Fries, rice, shrimp, crab legs and sauce. Prices were good too. I left off a star because the Wednesday I went they weren’t broiling or frying oysters. I literally only went for the oysters. Also because my 7yo splashed garlic butter in his eyes and needed a sink to rinse them. Since they were prepping to close, they locked the bathrooms and offered us a cup of water. Kinda insensitive. If you’re going for something specific, ask if it’s available before sitting.By ItsMe ICandy (5 months ago)Great seafood! Til august 2022, they are out of oysters and cakes said the indoor signage. Great portions. Papaya salad was huge. Crabby fish sauce and spice level goes from 0-20. Crying phoenix has mild moderate and high spice levels and it’s glass noodles with garlic and spicy Thai flavors. The fried fish hush puppies and shrimp delicious!! GUMBO we got the smallest cup size and should have gotten the bowl to go. It was delicious my most favorite part. We will be back. Curious for the desserts like cake when it comes back. Also missed the oysters. Thanks y’all! Oh and if you want the Thai dipping sauce on their tables it’s also an extra charge.By Jennifer La (5 months ago)The oysters are as big as my fist! So meaty and juicy and refreshing for summer with some cool beer to pair. Great for afternoon lunch when it’s not too crowded! I hear this place is packed for dinner. The crawfish is so fresh! Scrumptious and the perfect mild-spicy consistency. The gumbo was good too. We didn’t try the Thai food but I think this place is astounding for the boil and seafood here. I keep thinking about those oysters! Go before season ends.By Susanna Lee (8 months ago)We visited a couple weeks ago for the first time. I had a craving for fried fish and tried the Fried Catfish Fillets. They were wonderful! The fish was flaky and perfectly cooked, the coating was crunchy and it was hot (right out of the fryer). Yum! The best part was the price and very generous portion. Two meals, including tea for $25! We decided we’d found another fish place. Sadly, yesterday we went again and this time the same fish was hard and chewy! Very disappointed but will try one more time, soon, in order to have the final verdict.By Miriam Hilton Mora (5 months ago)

A nice and laid back spot we stopped at on our way home from Galveston. Oysters, BLT, onion rings, fried pickles… lots of basic, but tasty lunch options. Good for when you want something simple yet done well. Very friendly service. We came on a Sunday afternoon and while the place was busy we didn’t have to wait for a table or wait long for our food. And the prices were just right for everything. Overall the quality of the food isn’t anything mind-blowing but it is good and the atmosphere is friendly and chill.By Margaret Gullion (7 months ago)Pulling up to the building, it looked a little sketchy but after going in the decor was perfect for the laid back atmosphere. Everything we ate was very tasty and presented well. The crawfish were amazing but a few were undercooked. Definitely recommend for a low-key meal with family or friends. We are looking very forward to returning to try their world famous oysters!By Kelli R Schulba (7 months ago)Huge servings! I was going by East Coast standards. Friendly and prompt service. No Lobster. Platters are double what I expected. Food is good, more used to fried but serves grilled and steamed. Place needs some attention, but prices are reasonable. Not fine dining, but definitely 4☆!By Roberta L Card-Murdock (8 months ago)If you are looking for oysters and seafood this is the place to come. They have quite a bit of different options for oysters so I highly recommend getting the sampler dozen you won’t regret it. Now as good as the oysters were the main dish was even more mind blowing and even more delicious. Got the stuff flounder and man it was so delicious and easily one of the best flounder I’ve ever had. Nice chill bar area to also enjoy a nice cold beer after a long day fishing or just to cool down in the summer heat.By Anthony Arizpe (5 months ago)Oysters were great as usual.. gumbo is a little strange for me. Taters with cheese are just that.. no seasoning that i could find.. fried okra was good.. grilled fish and shrimp was OK.. but forgot photos of those.. will just get oysters next timeBy Linda Vernon (6 months ago)

Second time there and place is wonderful, food is really good, loved the Shrimp, Fish and Fajita taco plate, the Fish and Shrimp rice was mouthwatering, the Butter and Garlic Snow Crab and Shrimp are well prepared. Lucky (Owner) is an amazing and cool guy and easy to talk to, the girls serving are attentive and ready to serve.By Ricky Rivera (2 months ago)Place was good. The wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner. Hard to come across good seafood around here. The oysters, crawfish, fried shrimp, fish and drinks was very good! We will be coming back!By LO (11 months ago)I was so hungry yesterday. Everything I ordered was delicious. My family enjoyed our time. Amazing food. Amazing people. Amazing time.By Raul Torres (4 months ago)Let’s begin by saying this place is in the middle of a shopping center and inside gas tables and booths. To the right looks like a bar and registers at the back of the room. You order there and your food gets delivered. So no table service if you need to know. We went here for the crawfish and I came for the crawfish etufee. It’s the begining of the season and the crawfish are not big yet. Wife said they where good but lemony while she likes spicy hot. My etufee was crawfish and was a huge bowl but it had shrimp. I’m mildly allergic to shrimp and wish it was called crawfish and shrimp. Not there fault since I didn’t mention or ask about shrimp content in the food. Good place, may visit more towards the middle of the crawfish season.By Ceasar Jamandre (10 months ago)Visiting in Austin for the weekend! The seafood here is so fresh, especially the oysters! The staff is friendly and attentive. They have plenty of screens to watch any sport or game going on. Definitely check this place out if you are wanting some fresh seafood and a good time.By Natalie Chalico (a month ago)

I absolutely love this place. They have the best flavor on their snow crab and shrimp. The service is almost self service you walk up to the counter and order then they hand you a number to place on your table so they can bring your food. The refills you get yourself and they also have a really nice sized bar. The Music is very loud but kind of sets a great mood.By Vanessa Segundo (8 months ago)Solid 4.5! This place is great! The sauce they put in the seafood boils is so good! Only draw back is the snow crab was smaller than I’m use to. Great service and they brought the food out fairly quickly. I got the combo platter (crab, shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage). Other people got catfish baskets (soooo good! It came with thick steak fries), gumbo, tilapia and veggies. We also got piña colada‘s and beer! I’d definitely go back. I feel like the price we paid for everything was fairly inexpensive for seafood. Great place!By Jewell Love (10 months ago)I wanted to find a place with crawfish that wasn’t prepared from frozen and I found it. I had the combo and added a pound of crawfish. I’m used to Louisiana boiled crawfish so picking the flavor and the spice level is something new to me. I ordered medium and there was a good kick to it. The cooked food from the kitchen looked good so I’ll have to try that next time.By Nicole R (10 months ago)Oysters were super fresh and great temperature. Ceviche was the bomb. Like WOW. Boiled shrimp very good. Excellent seasoning. Crawfish I was not impressed with, especially the texture. Cajun Caldo with octopus was also not as flavorful as I’d expected.By Renae M Wilcox (8 months ago)Great prices and good portions! Long line but goes quickly! Seating in the back of the restaurant as well.By Grace Lee (8 months ago)

We came for Valentine’s Day so they had a select menu, I was disappointed that there was no lobster on the menu. Nicholas the waiter did a great job. The food that I did order was delicious. The paloma drink was missing something it was not the best. The streak was nice and juicy per my husband and my pasta shrimp dish was flavorful. But the oysters are the best. I just had 3 to test try and I loved them.By Andrea Davis (9 months ago)Nice location, quality food, good drinks and best of all, its not a tourist trap. Was tired of seeing bad food with high reviews.
Overall it was a nice experience but nothing memorable. Probably one of maybe 2 best options on the strip.
The price was about 15-18% above its worth in my opinion but the real estate likely commands it.
Carpaccio was amazing and we shared the steak and lobster plate which was nicely presented for us on separate dishes. We also ordered a side of mushrooms.
By Jordan Wendelken (5 months ago)We were here July 9th weekend and I have to say after 1 meal here, we ate here exclusively all weekend!!!
First shout out is to Julie who was at the bar shucking oysters… This woman needs a raise and should be out in front of customers all the time! She made both our weekends with great conversations, service and food! I am pregnant and she designed a seafood platter catered to my needs!!!! She was the #1 reason we returned as much as we did!!! I can’t wait to go back and see her again in Sept.!!!!
Andy, the manager, was amazing as well! He approved all substitutions for me and even listened to my thoughts and ideas on how to make a mommy-to-be spa weekend even better at Mokara Spa! “Mokara-Mommy-Mocktails” should become a thing!!!
Jon , the executive sous chef, was awesome in preparing our food all weekend and even came out to see if we liked our meals. They met any special requests I had which made me feel amazing!!!
On to the food!
My first taste was a baby-moon chocolate mousse that was delivered to our room…. I loved it so much I ended up ordering more the next few nights!
The wedge salad was so fresh and delicious and was the first of my orders at Ostra with special requests that kept me coming back all weekend!
For breakfast on my mommy-to-be spa day, I had a fruit bowl, which was huge, yogurt and some toast!
For lunch, my husband and I ate a chicken caesar salad with extra croutons, a shrimp cocktail and the fish and chips basket! Again, my special requests for my salad were met no problem!!!
I had a five-layer chocolate torte cake for a mid afternoon snack and the slice was huge, rich and very decadent!
We had some of the cevieche and Julie even added avocado to the mix!!!
The seafood platter is a must try! Since I cannot have raw oysters, Julie customized our platter with a few oysters for my husband to enjoy and more items that I could have while pregnant…. I was so touched by this because they really care about their customers!!! I ate so much shrimp and crab claws and I have to say this is the best I ever had and I live on the gulf!!!!
My husband enjoyed some bacon roasted brussel sprouts which smelled amazing!
For breakfast on the final day, I had theSour Cream Blueberry Pancakes and whoa….. absoluetly delicious!!! I even got extra custard! My hubby had the Malted Vanilla Waffle and blueberry sage sausage, we have never eaten so many delicious items at 1 restuarant!!!
I hope the owners see this post as again, I have to promote and praise Julie on her amazing customer service. As an HR professional, she has the culture, passion and drive to make that restuarant succeed!
I also have to praise Andy and Jon one more time as well, this staff combo, really know how to make the meal, day or weekend of their customers!!!
I am sending my company’s sales reps here next week on their trip!MUST PAY OSTRA A VISIT!!!!
Much love for the staff!
~ Catie & AndrewBy Catherine Edwards (3 months ago)Absolutely fantastic food and service! My family and I were in town for a few days and enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the Ostra. Eunice was our waitress and she was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant and bar for individuals, couples and families. You won’t be disappointed!By Valerie Bender (7 months ago)Basic hotel bar. The service was a horror. Bartender never came back to see if we needed refills. The water was horrid. Needs to be filtered. Wanted to order dinner but they got our appetizers wrong, so we didn’t stay. They didn’t even come get out credit card that we tried to give the bartender 3 times. Finally we got her attention. We have no desire to ever come back.By Scott Xavier (6 months ago)
