  1. I’ve been coming to Buckroe Beach for more than 30 years. It’s a beautiful little beach in Hampton, VA with both public beach and private beach I’ve been lucky to enjoy. Sitting on the Chesapeake Bay, you can see the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on a clear day. If you’re lucky, you’ll see dolphins fishing or playing when the tides change. Buckroe is hardly the nicest beach, but no tourists come either. It’s truly a beautiful community beach.

  2. We went on purple flag day( jellyfish alert). The lifeguard was very nice to explain this to my son. We still ventured ahead and had a great time. He was able to meet a friendly kid an they had a blast together. The beach could use a little sprucing up but otherwise nice. There is also a playground on site but we did not get a chance to use it. There was a cop at the end of the night making the announcement that the beach was closing. However you can’t really hear it. We only understood because we were leaving and walking in that direction. So if you see the cop at the end of the night it’s time to get ready to leave. Have a great time.

  3. Quaint small town beach. Well maintained and plenty of police presence making sure rules are followed. We enjoyed the many areas to sit or swing. The Park includes a nice size playground for the kids of all ages, a separate from the boardwalk bike trail with multiple areas to tend to your bicycle or pump air in tires. The bathrooms close early, like the rest if the beach and park access so keep that in mind. Their are showers located on the side of the building. There is a stage for live music or movie night. Would love to see the city begin that again! There’s also a Farmers Market every Saturday. Appreciate seeing locals care for the beach and pick up litter left behind from beach goers. All and all a family friendly, wonderful area to gather with friends and family and enjoy a day at the beach.

  4. Buckroe Beach was really cool, Simply cant beat free parking and the Boardwalk all the while gasping at the Ocean.Plenty of restrooms and Shelter for some Amazing Cookouts which the grill is already provided for you. No Alcohol allowed and There are Rangers patrolling as well as the City Police. So drive safe and enjoy The Buckroe beach with a Fishing Pier .

  5. I can not get enough of this beach!!! It is beautiful! The park is very nice. There is a small stage for outdoor concerts. I love the swings & benches along the boardwalk. Nice picnic areas. Clean bathrooms & wash up stations. The port-a-pottys could use a regular cleaning, but its a port a potty so keep your expectations low. My only issue: not open late enough.
If I may offer a recommendation or consideration to the people in charge… My husband & I are into star gazing & late night strolls along the beach. Maybe have an evening or 2 on a weekend (or maybe every other weekend) to allow limited access until 12:00 midnight? No children under 18 unless accompanied by an adult. No swimming after sundown on said evenings. Just an opportunity to sit & enjoy this beautiful beach at night!!

Such a beautiful State Park. I was nervous with how popular it seems, how mellow everybody was. I came in off days, and didn’t experience huge crowds. The beach was gorgeous, especially the morning I went extra early for sunrise! I stayed in a cabin.. they are kind of rustic but fully stocked kitchen and very clean cabin throughout. My kids and I loved our stay. 15 minutes from Virginia Beach but out in this cabin we felt tucked away. I will definitely book out here again!

One of my favorite beaches/parks in the area. In the summer it’s one of the only beaches in the area where we can bring our dog (who loves to swim!). The park has wonderful trails, and most of them are shaded. There are beaches on the Chesapeake Bay side and on the Broad Bay side, both are great. The campsites are spacious with lots of old oak trees all around. There are showers, bathrooms, a snack bar and gift shop. Be aware you do have to pay to park if you aren’t planning on staying to camp. Great place to visit any time of the year.

My favorite place at the beach and something that makes Virginia Beach truly unique among resort cities. I run or hike here almost every day of the year. On hot summer days, it’s always 3-7 degrees cooler on the trails. Miles upon miles of trails through beautiful forests and wetlands. Seeing the ecology and untouched natural beauty of the area is amazing…Thick groves of ferns amongst the cypress, hidden beaches along the trails, boardwalks across the wetlands… the trails are kept impeccably and there’s a great variety. Kayaks, SUP, and boat rentals along the “Narrows” section, at the 64th St entrance. Truly one of Virginia Beach’s biggest assets.

Nice park with a interesting landscape and beautiful trails along the water, through the forest and over swamps. It’s perfect for jogging and biking!
The trails are easy to walk and they range from very less than a mile to more then 8 miles.
Also super quiet and calm and not crowded at all during winter. In winter it’s basically free, in summer it costs a couple of dollars admission and parking.

We enjoyed our hike here! Love that there is a trail center with restrooms open even after the office is closed. Lots of different trails to choose from. We went late September and the smell of pine was amazing. Our hike went from dirt and pine needles on the ground to thick sand at some parts. Benches throughout the hike. Clear trail markers. Overall very flat and easy hikes here. We are avid hikers and feel this is great for any beginner or someone wanting a more leisurely experience. There are lots of mosquitoes so bring bug spray!!

Going to Virginia Beach in February was peaceful but not everything was open for business. Beautiful beach with some cute souvenir shops open. I would def go back when everything is open to truly experience it fully. It is very peaceful and the boardwalk is very nice and kept up.

Miles of beautiful beach with boardwalk and has some interesting architects along the way. We went during the off-season to avoid the crowds. It’s a great beach for a family vacation. Love the fishing piers and Neptune’s Statue.

This beach was so nice. The waves are amazing and the water wasn’t freezing. The beach was pretty clean too. The view was priceless. There are a lot jets that constantly pass through this area and they are loud so if you’re going to just relax be prepared for that disturbance on a constant throughout the day. I would definitely vacation in Virginia Beach again.

Today was a lovely day to be at the beach. This was my 1st time on this beach and I loved it! This beach is very clean and is close all restaurants and a fair where you can take kids to ride rides. They also have a lot of shops with great prices on shirts and stuff. They have smoke shops that sell delta 8 beer and wine. This is a great place for the family or if you want to take a couples trip or girls trip!!

Beach was not nearly as clean as we had hoped. Lots of seaweed which I guess can’t be controlled but the amount of garbage mixed in with the seaweed was pretty disappointing. All in all though still not a bad place to spend an afternoon. I just personally the cleaners beaches of the Carolina Coast a couple hours drive South. We did really enjoy the boardwalk and ferris wheel.

One of my recent favourites, it’s just perfect! Trails, boat storage and loading ramps. Has good fishing spots and it’s very clean.

Love the fact that has may grills available and a huge recreation area.

Great state park about 40 minutes from Stafford, VA. Trail Parking is identified clearly. You can also park at picnic area/boat entry points. Multiple scenic views through trails…I started from Potomac Trail to Bushy Point Trail to Powells Creek Trail and looped back, about 5 miles in total, with Fitness options provided in loop. A bald eagle met me on Potomac Trail, so close as it flew away it looked like a dinosaur departing. Beautiful marsh beach with snails and driftwood. Bathrooms are plentiful throughout the park. The gift shop was not open during my visit.

On fathers day 2022 we went to Leesylvania State Park to go boating. We are a family of 12 people. We had a friend bring the boat in and we were supposed all be at the park at 10 am. Half of us were there at 10 am and we got in the park no problem. We prepared the boat while we waited for the others. As others arrived around 10:15 am we got the call from others in our party that they stopped letting people in. They said the park was full. Those of us that were in the park looked at the half empty parking lot and were in shock. We had already paid to get in and had a boat ready to go for what we thought would be a fun filled family adventure. Not only did they deny the rest of our families entry they were very rude. They did not take our circumstances in to consideration at all!

My first visit to this state Park was during the week and when the weather was not ideal. It was rainy, some fog, humid, but conditions cleared up after some time. But in the meantime, I found myself in the present of one of the Friends of Leesylvania Park, Mr. Rodney, on the porch of the ‘store’. He and I had a very good conversation about many things. Most prominent was about the beautiful park that he volunteers his time and effort, along with others to service and maintain certain standards and plan activities at the park. My Rodney gave me an overall perspective of the park. After rocking in the porch chairs and peering off into the waters of boats returning to the pier after their occupant’s adventures, I myself took Mr. Rodney’s
information to formulate my on opinion of this beautiful location.
There are several parking locations, a visitor center, the store was not currently staffed to operate. It has picnic areas, a fishing pier, boat launch, and you will find historical markers. I’m told it’s super busy on weekends, but my weekday visits(2), I’ve had no problem traversing the landscape.

The park offers trails, pavilions, picnic tables, fishing pier (that crosses VA/MD boundary), history lessons and beautiful sceneries. Photos were taken on 11/06/2022. You can also visit the nearby Neabsco Creek Preserve during the same trip.

Went today for 4 hours and it was amazing. Nice beach with playground & loads are room for kids to play. Lots of families were enjoying their day in the sun as well. We will definitely return. I recommend this place to anyone local or passing through ???

Absolutely beautiful. Love sitting on the beach here watching the sun rise in the mornings listening to the waves moving in & out. Very peaceful in the mornings with very few people during the early mornings. I can see my feet even when out waist deep. Nice clear water. Not blue but still clear enough to see through.

Parking is ok when several people are leaving along with others trying to come in there was no room and we had a couple of close encounters. The restrooms were not maintained, and I certain it is because the city allowed the two or three homeless men setup in the area. Other than that our experience at the beach was good.

This is actually a really convenient way to be on the water without dealing with the VA Beach craziness. Took the kids (6, 5, and 3) and they loved it. Really low-key, plenty of parking and seating, and a nice view of the pier. The restrooms and showers are closed right now, but when they open back up it’ll be even better!!
