May 16, 2022-I would like to update my post…My son and I have been working with the recovery coaches at Mountainside for a couple of months. We are incredibly grateful for their support. Rachel C. never gave up on our son, even when he was struggling. Thankfully he has turned the corner. Thanks in part to Rachel C.. She is worth her weight in gold. And my recovery coach, Tim G. has been there for me along the way, helping me bring the focus back to my well being. Thank you again Rachel & Tim.
I have been working with Tim, the Family Recovery Coach for a couple of weeks. He is helping me work on my relationship with my son and also guiding me to bringing the focus back on myself. I feel like he understands my goals better than I do. Each time I speak with Tim I hang up with more pearls of wisdom to fall back on when coming up against a challenging situation. Our family is incredibly grateful for Tim & Rachels’ help. Thank you.
By Kathy C (6 months ago)I am the mother of a nineteen year old son, whose addiction led me to a weekly virtual support group run by Mountainside Treatment Center. Until recently, Jesse Wright led the group each week. Being a recovering addict himself, his advise is based on his own experiences, which inspire parents like myself to have hope for the future. Every session he would post his contact information for parents and loved ones to reach out to him when they needed someone to talk to. I cannot tell you how many times this young man has “talked me off the ledge”. We subsequently hired him for recovery coaching. My son, immediately clicked with him, as does everyone who knows him, and they developed a relationship over time whereby he could come to Jesse for his concerns and his anxieties. Jesse helped him with searching and applying for a job and schools. He continued to coach my husband and I when we all faced the struggles that go along with the whole recovery process. Besides being an excellent mentor, the most important thing I could say about Jesse is that he TRULY CARES. He is a good hearted person and he has helped my family immensely through this journey. I can’t say enough about him. Highly recommend! If I could give six stars, I would!By Nina Cymbol (8 months ago)I would be giving Mountainside zero stars if it weren’t for Rachel Clarke. I nearly left about a year ago after working with the other coaches but I decided to give one more a try. Rachel has been like family to me over the past year and I am so grateful for her and the way she caters to my needs and supports me. I only meet with her once a week and yet I feel like she is with me for every step of my recovery journey. Something I never felt in the slightest bit working with the other coaches. I will be two years clean on the 23rd of March, 2022 and I credit Rachel with a tremendous amount of my progress. Yes, I put in plenty of work on my own and whenever I felt down or unmotivated, Rachel pushed me to my full potential. I never felt confident achieving my goals before Rachel came along and she has equipped me with the skills to push myself when other people aren’t around to help. Mountainside is so lucky to have her and I look forward to pushing my recovery to new lengths in the coming years with her.By Atticus Apter (9 months ago)My family and I have consulted many mental health care providers over the past number of years, trying different interventions, protocols, and prescriptions. I can honestly say that we have been helped greatly by our experience with the Mountainside Recovery Coaching Services. In particular, I would like to give a big shoutout to our son’s recovery coach practitioner, Zachary Cohn, who has been an invaluable source of guidance and support to our son and to us, his family. Heartfelt thanks!By Thomas Turberville (9 months ago)I have found mountainside to be an invaluable addition to my after-care plan. My coach has been a supportive, encouraging and sympathetic. It has been a very worthwhile and valuable investment of time and money.By Leslie Takonis (8 months ago)

My father recently spent time at this nursing home/rehab. It is never easy to have a parent who requires skilled nursing home care.
This rehab has okay rooms, and was generally clean. The food was okay but there is no menu. The only choice is usually a grilled cheese sandwich.
The thing about this nursing home that I liked were the caregivers. They were generally kind and nice to my father.By gary leib (5 months ago)I am working her for more than ten years as a nurse. it’s the best facility in all of New York for cleanliness, care and rehabilitation. I had a family member here recently as well. And was very impressed. Thanks for all the amazing work you do.By Shirin Siddiqua (2 months ago)All Staff is amazing. I broke three bones the recovery is incredible I’m am almost walking a few weeks later: activities are great. I used to be a volunteer here years ago and I’m great full for the experience of meeting very special residentsBy Linda Saraceni (3 months ago)My father was in this rehab center from March 3 to April 7 after a hip injury. We have been extremely pleased with the services provided and final outcome.
My family and I were always warmly greeted and shown courtesy by the employees at the front desk. They were very helpful with any questions we had.
In addition, the social workers were thorough in providing relevant information to us.
My father received great physical care and thought that all of the nurses and nursing staff were very attentive and considerate to his needs. The physical and occupational therapy teams worked hard to get him back to walking on his own. He especially credits his recovery to Marjorie, an occupational therapist as well as Mujib and Cheryl, both physical therapists, all of whom provided care which enabled him to get stronger by the day.
Overall, we have been very impressed with this center.By Marianne cala (8 months ago)Enjoyed coming to New York center today for the art program with the residents. Not great. They are SEVERELY understaffed and getting answers takes forever. My husband was in this facility for over a month and they cleaned his room only twice. It’s disgusting. The mattress is bigger than the actual bed, making it slide down all the time.
Food is TERRIBLE. My family and I brought my husband his three meals every single day because of how bad their food is. We heat our food up in the microwaves and for a few days all three of their microwaves were down. How??
The sink in the bathroom in his room was broken the day we got there. We told staff about four times. It was never fixed. Even the elevator floor tiles come off. This place is an actual joke.
Also the fish tanks in the lobby look like they haven’t been cleaned for years. Truly don’t know how those fish are alive.
The PT/OT team are the only saving grace here. There are a few staff on site that are amazing, but that’s it. I would not recommend bringing loved ones here.
By Mayra Morety (3 weeks ago)Yes hi as I’m writing this my brother who had a stroke and was hermaraging in the brain was at the hospital for five weeks and then place at Fort Tryon not knowing what to expect or what to look forward well it’s been three weeks of constant drama my brother is not the most how should I put this(patience) person I know but we have to remember he’s been through a lot of trauma (had a piece of bone from his scull cut, over 35 staples on his head) personal problems teenage daughter at home practically unsupervised, but back to FT he has fallen out of bed twice with no itmitiate response although he assured me he press the response button on multiple times one of the times he was splatter in sh.. because his adult diaper had broken through and the responding nurse mocked him and continue to anialate by telling him he was a baby ,we’re in the process of trying to move him. I’ve been going to visit him everyday (except one) out of the three weeks he’s been there and I see a lot of good caring workers but there’s always some that are not so I gave two stars. Mr. Desmond the social worker responded and was very helpful the front desk personal always friendly and willing to help and many of the nurses that always were willing to listen.By Conception Rivera (3 weeks ago)The visit could have been a bit longer 😕 30 minutes is not enough time to visit with someone you haven’t seen in a long timeBy Berle L “Topcat1” Easton jr (a year ago)Fort Tryon Rehab is a impressive place to look at but truly is not a place I’d recommend for your love ones,no compassion the place is poorly managed,high-degree incompetent staff and a severe high-risk case of neglect. There goal is to keep patience long term even when not requested,NIGHTMARE Is what this place is.
My dad has been staying here for about 3 1/2 weeks and regardless of me speaking to social workers, supervisor, nurses and Doctors at this facility they take matters into there own hands to try and keep the patient. My dad has cancer and he’s in a lot of pain most of the time, he was brought in for rehabilitation for his back fracture. He’s told me how they ignore him and just leave his food there even though I’ve already spoken to at least 4 staff members to make sure it’s in his record he’s a feeder (neglect), I’ve had to call the facility in the am hours (1-4am) because my dad has called me to tell me the nurse isn’t coming and he needs a pain killer. In the time my dad has been there he’s lost over 10lbs. The food has no flavor which I also spoken to them about seasoning 🧂 for him and they did until he was moved from his room. His roommate would not let him sleep because he would talk about him being there for two years and how he wish he had visitors as often and the latest one was so mean this man would turn on the heat at 86 degrees and leave the room so my dad could burn up and I spoken to the nurse about this and they did nothing. Now I had not mention how they took it upon there self to mark my dad as long term with out discussion, however even after I discussed with the social worker, she continued to keep him as long term and now moved my dad to a long term room. I almost forgot to mention how they want to change my dads insurance, so the insurance would cover what ever else they want and asked me to give them custodial authorization. I called my dads insurance to find out that his insurance covers what he needs there and what there asking is for pretty much the right to do as they pleased with him. The insurance lady told me she did not recommend this including I had already spoken to the doctor there who agreed my dad would be more comfortable at home and that his insurance should cover these same abilities at home. Every time I’d speak to a staff member the next day they would take it upon there self to make changes and making it difficult to arrange for my dad to leave the facility. I will keep you all posted I will write another review in a few days.By Lizzy C (3 years ago)Fort Tryon Rehab provided best service a friend could ask for. One of my best friends mother was very sick. Before she passed away the nurses showed sincere and professional care toward her mother, they gave instructions step by step to provide the family with knowledge, the doctors explained everything to every family member lovingly and professionally. I had faith in the people who worked here to ensure positive outlook and best care possible. That’s what they did for my friend and her family. Gave her freedom with excellent serviceThank you

I can’t say enough great things about this facility! I had a particularly bad relapse and needed inpatient treatment. Now, a year later I am still clean and sober! I consider myself blessed to have picked Ascendant. The staff was highly professional and my care was outstanding. I felt safe and well taken care of. Just a reminder (goes for me as well) the work continues as soon as you’re released. Find a recovery/support group that works for you and put in the effort, it’s well worth it. You too can live your best life like me!By Denis Ryan (2 months ago)This place did wonders for my husband and family. Everyone that works their genuinely cared to see my husband succeed and gave him all the tools needed to be successful in the real world. My husband has been to many rehabs and this one was the best by far. They included our family and were very respectful of our family unit. My husband is now stronger than ever and mentally/physically secure to overcome any struggle brought his way. We are super grateful. Thank you so much Ascendant for healing my husband .By Allison Kester (a month ago)Ascendant detox/rehab. I was a patient here for 35 days. When I arrived there I was broken. Physically, mentally and spiritually. My head so filled with fog I couldn’t spell my own name. Hopeless. I was immediately and safely detoxed and my medical needs were attended too. From there I moved on to the rehab section of ascendant. I cannot say enough for what they did for me. I trusted them with my life and they saved it. They gave me all the attention and tools I needed to regain my life and live a clean and sober life. The facilities were modern and clean. The staff from top to bottom was first class. From the techs to the medical staff to the counselors. I was treated with respect and dignity at all times. Business aside these are good people who love their job and care for you and it shows. There are many people there who I consider to be a friend as they do me. They go above and beyond and if I ever needed or need anything they always have time for me. Even now. Four months after I completed inpatient. I am now 5 months into sobriety and have completed all of the outpatient part of my therapy. I still attend the weekly alumni groups because I want all of ascendant to continue to be a part of my journey. I am eternally grateful for ascendant and their great staff of kind and caring people. I would absolutely recommend ascendant to anyone who wants to change their life and is willing to have an open mind. There cannot be anywhere that could possibly be more helpful than ascendant.By Christopher White (3 months ago)This is an amazing place. The entire staff is compassionate and professional. The facility itself is beautiful, located in a luxury townhouse. They helped me tremendously. I have been sober since my discharge. They provide outpatient therapy, alumni meetings. Lots of support to help you stay sober. I feel great – better than I have in a long time. I could not have gotten here without Ascendant. I am very greatful. I highly recommend this facility. You won’t regret it!By Domenica (4 months ago)I had an excellent experience at the Ascendant detox and rehab in Manhattan. I had been 20 years sober in AA, but relapsed after a diagnosis of late-stage pancreatic cancer and five months of chemotherapy. The clinicians and nurses at Ascendant helped me address both of my diseases, in tandem with my oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering, my family, and other treatment professionals. They went out of their way to respect my individual needs, treating me as a full person and not merely a patient or client. And I saw them do this for others who went through treatment with me. I would recommend seeking out their guidance to anyone considering professional treatment.By Alain Mentha (a month ago)
