RU is the best addiction treatment center there is. The program is personal and caring with a smaller group of people compared to other rehabs. The staff are accommodating and kind with many being former addicts themselves who are able to truly empathize with whatever you’re going through. The music therapy aspect was very cool especially as a musician myself and I enjoyed listening to new music as well as jamming out with some fellow patients! I had a one of a kind experience and have been given the tools to continue my life of sobriety.
P.S. Melod rules and is pretty good at skateboardingBy Nick Hutchinson (9 months ago)Attending IOP at Recovery Unplugged in Annandale, VA was one of the best decisions of my life. The atmosphere was always welcoming and rewarding. The staff approached recovery with an open-mind and customized the fit to each individual. Prior to this experience, I had lost my creativeness in active addiction, but even in other recovery groups including: AA, NA, CDA, IOPs, rehabs I wasn’t able to regain the music within me. However, Recovery unplugged helped me find the “real me” and through multiple sessions of group and individual therapy I love playing my guitar, singing and writing my own music again. Where I struggled to be open and honest, Recovery Unplugged made it surprisingly easy to be my true genuine self. The group sessions were split into two halves with a break in between. First session was mainly a check-in to see how everyone was doing. The second involved more behavior modification exercises from learning about emotions, characterizing feelings, understanding recovery options/solutions, brainstorming challenges at home/work etc. You also get complimentary 1:1 sessions with a counselor and therapist. The open mics were my favorite. This is where I got to share my music and talk about a given topic discussed with the counselor. Highly recommend this recovery option. Don’t hesitate to reach out and schedule if on the fence.By Charlton Cooper (4 months ago)I came to this place (Annandale, VA) facing mental health issues and substance abuse and looking for a place where I could to my IOP (Intensive outpatient program) after completing my PHP (partial hospitalization program)… End up finding a home, a family, a great group of therapists, professional, friendly, embracing, knowledgeable and most of all made me feel comfortable opening up and being myself.Their approach is not the common type, they use music and arts as a medium to help you express your emotions, traumas, your progress and insights. They’re trained in all forms of therapy and seen them using CBT, DBT, EFT, play therapy, mindfulness therapy, humanistic, hollistic, Psychodrama. They also offer 1 on 1 and group sessions, family/couples therapy, Dharma meetings, medical practitioners, counselors, medication management, nurses and staff.
Their therapy sessions helped me expand on my interpersonal, and social skills by motivating me to speak in public and lose my stage fright. Even if you’re not artistic inclined, believe me, you will leave this place loving arts more than anything.
Also they have a very subtle approach to sensory regulation which helps with regulating your emotions and understanding your Triggers.
My personal experience was more with therapists like Wu, Maggie, Eva, Lindsey and Carrie (family/couples therapy) and each one of them combined offered an individualized approach to therapy, and when combined, it was perfect because it helped me explore into different areas that I needed to work on through different techniques.
This is a place for everyone in need for mental health, substance abuse or just a general wellness help, and from what I know most insurances will cover it, if not all.
Once you complete the program you are enrolled in the alumni program and can still attend to their weekly meetings, see your friends, and hang out on their monthly parties.
This is truly a place that made me feel belonged, and that made me feel that I will never be alone in the struggle.
Totally reccomended.
Thanks RU! Thanks to all that saved my life.
By NtRodgZioN “Antonio Mudge” Experimental Electronic (4 months ago)My loved one’s care while at Recovery Unplugged has been above and beyond what I had imagined. The staff have provided very focused and individualized care. They have been very helpful to us as we are new to the world of substance abuse treatment. They have been available to explain the admissions process, daily/weekly program, and additional options after residential treatment. As a parent, this whole process can be confusing and intimidating, but the RU staff treat everyone with respect and take time to explain their philosophy and program goals. Our whole family has learned a lot during the first leg of the treatment journey and we plan to keep on participating in RU programs to be a part of a community that supports a drug free lifestyle. Thank you to all of the staff!By Teresa Rodriguez (8 months ago)Recovery Unplugged is one of the best programs I have ever gotten the opportunity to be apart of. From the moment I got there I was welcomed graciously into the environment and soon felt at home. The staff is seriously amazing and I can’t even express how knowledgeable they are and also so cool and down to Earth. This program means everything to me and I find myself wanting to forever be apart of it because it truly changed my life. I know most people in this society have a warped view of “rehab” and “recovery centers” but this was and is so much more than that. This is a home for people who are passionate, intelligent, unique and somehow along the lines lost their way to addiction. The counselors, behavior technicians, alumni coordinator, and more are just some of the coolest and most knowledgeable people I have ever met and made me grow tremendously. My month I spent in the php program was filled with so much laughter and great times with amazing people… there were lots of tears through some of the hard work, but there was always people that were there to give you hugs, offer their strength and hope, and grant you the space for closure, growth, and opportunity to succeed further than you could ever imagine. As Eric Clapton quotes in one of his live performances in Japan he says “Its the best place I’ve ever played…. its the best place in the world … Thank you for everything..” I often find myself saying these words over and over again in my head feeling this way about Recovery Unplugged in Annandale.By Rita Buccieri (a year ago)

I recently fractured cervical Vertebrae , C1 and C2. I was admitted to Acute Rehabilitation at Virginia Hospital Center after my stay in the hospital at VHC.
My entire stay, both in the hospital and in Acute Rehab was. remarkable. I cannot find the words to fully convey what phenomenal care and caring I received. Every staff member I encountered was totally invested in making sure I understood what was happening and understood my role in my recovery and most of all made sure I received the best care in every area and that I remained as comfortable as I could be.

I just want to say, with all the horror stories you hear of nursing home abuse I guess Forest Health and Rehab must be the odd ball in that story. All the way from the Admin staff to the nurses, aides and all the support staff have been nothing less than AWESOME!! My father has been there going on 3 months and the care and love he receives warms this sons heart. Being able to go to sleep and know that he is being taking such great care of brings such a peace to my mind. I go visit at the odd times and the level care I see given to each resident is nothing I have seen before. Thanks to Forest Health and Rehab for loving my father as his family does and a extra thank to Nursing department that does it for the love of the residents and for the communication , they actually call when something is up and to keep me informed. I know this is long , but I can’t say enough to express my gratitude. Love all of you for your heart and using your gifts God blessed you with. Have a blessed day. FrankBy Frank Goff Jr (a week ago)As an employee here as well as a family member of someone who lives here I can honestly say that Forest Health and Rehab is a caring, loving place. It is a great work environment to be in. And my family is thrilled with the care that my father-in-law receives. My father was sent here to obtain care for his rehabilitation. The response rate for the service was extremely heartbreaking. My father is a veteran that had served for his country wasn’t treated right. They found him with low oxygen levels that he had to be transferred to a hospital. They found out he caught COVID shortly after his care from this facility. I don’t recommend anyone bring their love/loved ones here.By Logan (2 weeks ago)Today was my first time visiting the facility. I was accompanying my husband, who was visiting his sister, who is a resident there. This was the first time he had seen her in over 40 years! She recognized and remembered her brother and they had a wonderful reunion and time of fellowship.By Linda Bryant (5 months ago)My experience with the place wasn’t great at all. As, I was passing by the hallways. I could smell a fowl stench even though I was wearing a mask. The facility isn’t clean enough for proper care. I also question the response rate because one nurse responded 35 to 40 minutes to a patient in critical care.By Angie Zeitler (2 weeks ago)On Short term unit, I literally watched Mom’s Nurse stand there while she struggled to get her meds in her mouth, after a crush med order had been placed. Found 3 pills in her bed previously. Overall. I was NOT, impressed with the Nurse’s. The food was cold, bland with no condiments given. Mom lost weight quick. For $194.50/day I expected better. The Administrator is loud and obnoxious has a “look at and hear me” personality, she should stay in her office with her dog. Probably has no clue what it’s like to work the floor. Discharge planner fake smiles everything, doesn’t communicate as promised on day one. Watch and question the billing dept. Make yourself known to staff, your family gets better care. The front desk clerks are super helpful and friendly. Mom really benefited from the PT/OT staff supper friendly and personable. The CNA’s on short term were super nice and respectful. The long term units are just sad, smells awful, you’d think they would make an effort to update the facility. I feel sorry for the ones that don’t have family to check on them. Just sad. I’d rather be put in a field somewhere and hope for the best.By K P (2 weeks ago)I’m so thankful for this facility. Is it perfect, no! It’s the people within that have taken care of my loved ones that I appreciate so much. The staff are a team that have always seemed to come together despite the problems to help me care for those I simply cannot. Thank each and everyone of you for all the thankless things you do to care for them. It is my wish that
more can take note of how hard their work is and appreciate every single one of them as much as humanly possible!
Thank you!By Teresa Firebaugh (3 months ago)
