Cruising all over the southern states, we ate all kinds of food. We stopped at many restaurants. This one, i am here to tell you, was one of the best. The place was crowded but Michelle (not Linda – since it’s a good review) seated us quickly and treated us like regular customers. We started with fried green tomatoes. I hadn’t ever tried them. They were fantastic – and served with both regular ranch dressing AND spicy ranch dressing. For my main meal, i ordered the red snapper. It was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever in my 52 years eaten. So dang good. It was served on a bed of rice that was amazing – and i don’t even like rice! I highly highly recommend the Shrimp Basket. You won’t be disappointed! Great service, better food!!By Jennifer “Jiffer” Johnson Harris (8 months ago)Wonderful dine-in experience! We had great, friendly service – everyone greeted us warmly and our waitress was so nice.
Absolutely delicious!! We ordered 2 fried Seafood Sampler baskets and a Shrimp basket. We enjoyed the flounder, fried oysters, shrimp, crab cake, cheese grits, corn nugget, slaw and hush puppies. Enjoyed the tartar and cocktail sauces also.
The Pineapple cocktail on the cocktail cabana menu was so good – the pineapple and coconut flavors were very tasty!
By Megan B (9 months ago)My wife and I stop at the shrimp basket for lunch this weekend. I had the shrimp and grits. She had the clam strips. Clam strips were cooked to perfection nice buttery, and no chewy or overdone. The shrimp and grits were also seasoned to perfection. Shrimps were cooked to the proper Dennis and it was very enjoyable. Waitress was very attentive and was even visited by the manager to make sure everything was fine. Been to other shrimp baskets. This is the first stop at this one, we will probably be back.By Dion Hebert (2 weeks ago)I’m a food connoisseur and was passing through Gulfport MS. The experience was awful. Eat at your own risk!! The okra and the white fish was good. Kristen our waitress was also amazing and very apologetic about our experience and the incompetent manager. I ordered crab cakes; they tasted imitation. I told the manager that I was expecting crab meat not imitation. She said that they come prepackaged and if I had gone somewhere else it would’ve cost a lot more. That has nothing to do with the cost of tea in China. I also told her that I didn’t like the fried green tomatoes either because they were slightly burnt. She didn’t apologize nor did she fix it. I ordered a shrimp basket with okra. The manager brought me a shrimp basket with fries. I was eating some white fish and placed a piece in the basket she took the basket after I said I have fish in there. She said that’s ok I’m going to throw it away. (Lot simpler to bring me an order of okra). This time she brought out smaller undercooked shrimp. I broke a few in half to show her. She brought me 5 overcooked shrimp. I inquired about the amount she brought back and she said “that’s how many whole ones you had left.” This manager is definitely not a people person and lacks professional and leadership skills. She apparently has no regard for the growth or the reputation of this business. All I can say is let the food speak. Attached are the photos.By Aronda Jones (6 months ago)The fried food we ordered was delicious food and our waitress was very fast and friendly service! We originally stopped for lunch because they had oysters in their name and my wife was craving some. Unfortunately they were out of oysters but the shrimp we ordered was delicious!By David C. My partner and I have visited this location several times and it is consistently great. The food is fresh, well seasoned, and delicious. We’ve tried many of the items on the menu but the standouts are the oysters Rockefeller, Royal Reds, Fried shrimp, and the Redfish Orleans. You cannot go wrong with any of them. They don’t take reservations so you may wait a bit but it’s never been more than 30 minutes. Enjoy!By Tyr M (9 months ago)When I saw “Voodoo tacos” on the menu while looking for a spot for lunch, I had to try this place. My stomach led me to the best shrimp tacos I have ever had. They had the right amount of kick to them, they were flavorful, and with a side of gumbo, this meal was one of the best I enjoyed while in the area. Paired with a Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan as well as a vintage bank setting and this place is the full monty. Do not pass this place up if you are in the area.By Jeremy Zella (10 months ago)Since I’m from the Midwest we don’t really have much of an opportunity for good fresh saltwater seafood. While in Gulfport I figured I should try the local seafood while I was looking for a small bite later in the evening. This restaurant had good reviews and I see why. Both the oysters Rockefeller and the crab cakes were fantastic, and they have a good solid old fashioned as well. I’d choose the place again given the chance. Highly recommended.By Matt Rose (6 months ago)This place was just what I needed on my vacation. I came for the oysters based on reviews I saw online and happy is an understatement. From the door to the table the customer service was excellent. Our server Cory was the BEST ever. He deserved the maximum tip and I made sure he got it from me. The lady at the door (I didn’t catch her name but I think she said she was Italian. She had curly hair) suggested a sangria. I didn’t get to try the one she suggested but my drinks I ordered were good. She even came upstairs to check to see if I tried her suggestion. I have no complaints and I will definitely be back. The manager was even friendly as well. Overall great customer service and great food as well as great prices. PS ask for Cory when you visit.By miriam dyson (7 months ago)We spent the holiday weekend in the Gulf Shores with our last night in Gulfport, Mississippi. We found this jewel through Google. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The almond encrusted chicken, the steamed in garlic crab claws, and the crab cakes/ green tomatoes were recommended by our amazing waiter (Vincent). If you are in the area you must try this place. It is well worth the cost and time. We especially thank Vincent for making our experience a great one.By Renee Brown (8 months ago)

We’ve eaten here around 10 times now. Never had a bad experience. Food is delicious, unique, and amazing quality. We’ve always received good service. We’ve enjoyed eating out on the balcony on beautiful days and inside on wet/windy days. The kids meal portions are generous. We’ve been pleased with the various things we’ve ordered each time including fish tacos, seafood fries, fried green tomatoes, burgers. Would definitely recommend. Decent pricing for a good seafood restaurant.
Such a fun atmosphere with super friendly staff! The Bahama Grill was amazing!
P.S. They also offer a military discount!
Update: Just visited again and was not disappointed! Consistently good.
NOTE: If you order the bourbon glazed wings, be sure to ask for additional sauce!
Shaggy’s Gulfport Beach was great! The atmosphere was fantastic with outdoor seating and windows facing the gulf. It just looks like one of those beach restaurants you want to eat at. Now to the food. The food was good as well, but the proportions were off from other restaurant prices and proportions we had. The Royal Reds dish was great but lacked everything except the shrimp! I had a good bit of large shrimp but not hardly anything else that goes with it such as potatoes sausage. We enjoyed Shaggy’s Gulfport Beach but will consider alternatives due to the food proportions and price.
This place was wonderful great atmosphere wonderful staff. I had the shrimp roll which was delicious, but I must say when it came to my husband’s food he had the Bahama red fish we both would say it was a religious experience. My husband recommends to pair the dish with a pain killer to bring out all the subtle nuisances.
Love this place!! Amanda was amazing – she took excellent care of us and was one of the best servers we have ever had! We had the trigger fish tacos, Hawaiian tacos, and trigger fish sandwich. Also you gotta try the mango passionfruit tea… it was delicious. I will definitely be back!!
