This was our first time at Caroline’s Oyster bar and to be honest it underwhelmed. Now does this mean it was a horrible dining experience? Of course not. We gave it 4 stars! The Charlotte area is craving a good Oyster bar and sadly Caroline’s has missed the mark. Will they do well? Yes, they will because there are no other competitors in the area. The ambiance is nice, location is great. The General manager (Scott) was awesome and made sure to take care of us when our server was not as attentive as she should have been. Especially In a part of town that a person expects as such, this should not happen and luckily our hostess (Nicole) noticed and sent over the GM.
The Oysters were great, slim selection but that may change over time and season. The other appetizers were not as appealing and I would pass in the future. The reason for my 4 star rating was the customer service from all other staff members (excluding our server) from Oyster chef, hostess and GM. Will we go back? Yes!

Great experience. All staff seemed to work together to ensure we had a great time. Our server was very helpful and the food was quite tasty!
We had the oysters Rockefeller, calamari, and king crab by the ounce.
Drinks were: deep sea (alcohol free) and the one flew south- deep sea was a bit on the sweet side for me but I let some of the ice melt and it was perfect. Husband very much enjoyed his tequila drink!

After reading other reviews: wanted to add that there were 5 great looking options for raw oysters, but I am pregnant so we didn’t try any.

Really nice experience! The atmosphere is relaxing and the food amazing. I spoke to the managers and one of the chefs who were so pleasant. Our waiter Ryan was super friendly and the food delicious. Our drinks were perfect. Definitely coming back when it’s a little warmer so I can enjoy sitting on the patio. The one downside is the parking which isn’t the restaurant’s fault. The parking garage was $20 for the 2hrs we were there. If you can find street parking do so!

We visited the restaurant late night on a whim. We were given great service from the staff, especially from our Waitress Ruthie. She is very nice and personable. The food was very good as well, however she was the star of the show.

The experience here was divine. The food was fresh, hot and flavorful. The alcoholic drinks weren’t watered down. Our waitress Omayra left a tough act to follow when it comes to service I expect from now on. She is knowledgeable of the menu, let us know the specials and what she prefers. She took the time to remember our names and sung to my mother for her birthday. Her personality is one in a million and we felt like family with her. Hold on to that gem ❤️. We will be back and will be requesting her every time!

Laid back and fun family atmosphere. Great food and loved the steamed shrimp and blackened chicken. Shrimp and grits was spot on. Service was friendly and prompt and they do well managing large groups with ease. It fits the vacation vibe!

Dirty Dick’s Crab House is a more casual, fun experience for dining. There is a fun atmosphere with most of the traffic due to vacationers. The food was really good, my table had gotten the She crab soup, seafood platter, and the crab cake sandwich (all pictured below). Prices are reasonable and service is good. The She crab soup was bursting with flavor and is a must try!!

Underwhelmed with tonight’s food preparations. Cooked too fast and all fried items were very greasy. Stuffed flounder was a nice attempt, but fell short of the expectations of a $25.00 price tag. Blackened Mahi was great!

Tonight’s service was good, we came in around 8… so the energy was down a little.

    Food Preparation: 4/10
    Service: 8/10
    Cleanliness: 6/10
    Value: 5/10

    Came here for dinner.
We got the calamari and fried pickles; they were good. They forgot to give us the utensils.
The hushpuppies were fried to long and soaked up some oil.
I got the Mariner ‘s Platter (fried shrimps, oysters, scallops, fish, and crab cake). It was good overall. Crab cake was flavorful, wish they were more careful and picked out the shell. I wasn’t a fan of the fried scallops.
Overall, it was good. The server was friendly, but the service was a bit slow.

Best Clam Chowder I have ever had. Alligator tail bites fixed to perfection. Seafood Broil platters were fabulous. Sirloin steak was exactly how we ordered it, medium rare. Plenty of food to take home with us. PERFECT.

This was our first visit to OBX, so we rolled the dice for a romantic dinner. This place is amazing! The service was top notch and the food was even better! We got in rather quickly and the sunset view over the Sound was awesome! We tried a couple places in Corolla, but the wait time was unreal, so we went to Duck! Best choice for dinner and will always go here upon our return! Do yourself a favor and enjoy all they have to offer!

Be warned that if you have a large number of people in your party the wait could be very long. We had 13 and waited 2 plus hours to get a table. However the food was worth it and the view was amazing. The restaurant is definitely understaffed and the employees are working quadruple time, but they all still had smiles on their face and were friendly. After we sat the waitress was fast in taking our order and we never waited more than a few minutes for a refill on a drink. The food came out fast and was very delicious. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Oysters were tiny and didn’t taste fresh. Shrimp were cooked well, but the Parmigiano crisp/lace was chewy. The chicken sandwich was OK. Biggest disappointment was the tiniest $8 cup of calm chowder. Not award winning, unless the restaurant is giving out their own awards. Understaffed and overworked employees. Sunset Grille seems more interested in hocking over priced cocktails than on food quality.

Amazing food to match the well timed sunset. Our waitress was Elysia and she was absolutely wonderful. I kept looking for her extra arms! Our selection was both tasty and timely. The place was as packed as it could be and the wait was just what was advertised.

One of the best places we have eaten so far this vacation. Everyone who ordered seafood loved it. The chicken bruschetta was amazing. As was the mashed Potatoes, and coconut rice. The service was outstanding, as was the atmosphere. The view we had on the second floor dining area was amazing as was the sunset outside of the giant picture windows overlooking the sound. The 2 hour wait time here was well worth it and more.

This was my second time at 42nd Street Oyster Bar. Our server was courteous, and moderately attentive so no complaints there. I had the Shrimp and Grits, and my father had the Shimp and Crab Linguine. Both dishes just OK. They weren’t strong in flavor at all. I did enjoy the complimentary hush puppies. I’ll probably be back, but I think I’ll stick to the oysters and fried platters.

The food was excellent! This restaurant’s fun history is reflected in the atmosphere – I enjoyed all the old photos. If you like good seafood I’d definitely recommend that you try this place.

Absolutely excellent! Their crab legs and chicken tenders were delectable, and the bartenders are wonderful. I went on Valentine’s so the tables were booked, but you can sit at the bar. All in all a great experience!

I really enjoyed my experience! Sat at the bar and had a variety of food paired with white wine. Topped it off with key lime pie. The menu has a lot to offer. They start you off with a basket of hush puppies and sweet butter. The calamari was very calamari, thick wholesome bites. The crab cake was a real crab cake, very yummy. The ahi tuna was yummy too. Lol overall, check it out for yourself, I liked what I had!

A staple for seafood in Raleigh even if oysters are not your thing. Always good, often great with a variety of seafood and ways it is prepared. My swordfish was awesome. The popcorn shrimp were a bit over breaded this time, although still tasty. Drinks whether iced tea, wine, or cocktails were good. Definitely recommend when in a seafood mood. Be sure to make reservations unless you want to eat in the bar area.

We arrived early on a Monday just before they started getting busy. We chose to eat the tuna appetizer, hush puppies and steamed shrimp. It was excellent. We took a giant piece of chocolate cake to go. The service was good in a casual atmosphere.

This family owned restaurant was established over 30 years ago and is located on the beach road across from the Avalon pier.

We enjoyed our visit here very much, the restaurant was clean but packed, but the short wait was nice outside by the picnic tables. Our server Holly was absolutely amazing!! She was very informative, never let our glasses get empty, and kept a constant check on our party. We enjoyed the soup of the day which was Shrimp, Corn and Crab Chowder, as well as 1/2 peck of Steamed Oysters, they were both delicious. Very reasonably priced, and not a long wait for our appetizer and entrée, we also enjoyed stopping at the Gift Shop next door. We’d definitely return again in the future.

By FAR my favorite restaurant we’ve been to! The food was DELICIOUS. Great prices and very quick. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was relaxing. Clean, well run, and absolutely a must visit.

Shout out to Tammy Jo for her great service and kind demeanor. Being a server in a tourist area must be very tiring but she handled it with grace and a smile.

    Thanks for a great experience!

Awful Arthur’s was the best dining experience and meal we had while in OBX for over a week. We sat at the bar and Tiffany was our bartender/server and was just incredible! So nice to chat with and top tier service. She was rock star! The food was phenomenal and so fresh. There’s a reason this place has great reviews and sometimes a long wait. Do yourself a favor and go here. It is worth it!

Great fresh seafood for a fair price. Crowded and popular because it’s good. Lots of choices fixed in various ways: raw, steamed, fried, etc. Wait staff is very responsive and quick. Special accommodations we’re made for my food since I’m allergic to crab. It was steamed separate.
